A New Minecraft Server

tl:dr: I'm starting a Minecraft server and am looking for players.

For those with a bit more patience, I have a story and an offer.
A long time ago (four years, now? Perhaps five?) I was invited by a friend on the forums to join a Minecraft server. It was fairly simple: no mods, just bukkit with a few unobtrusive plugins. The most game-changing thing it was running was Runecraft, which I always found made the server community much more interactive, by way of teleporters. Anyways, the owner was friendly, the other players were friendly, and it was a great time. Easily one of the more pleasant extended activities of my life. Eventually we added more mods, and the server grew a bit (though it never went over 20 or so players), and then it slowly came to a halt. People dropped out over time, and in the end it was me and a bare handful of others. And then I went off to university, and never really played much since. Certainly never on a server, not with any real regularity.
Recently, though, I've been getting back into the game. I find mods fun, and I've been playing more and more SSP, but deep down I long for a proper server like the one I once played on. So, as a result, I've set one up. I got an old desktop chugging away in my basement, and worked out the port forwarding, and it's all ready to go. Runecraft is running once more, despite its best efforts to crash at every available opportunity. All I need now are players.
I've always found the people on this site to be friendly, so I'm offering my invitation here first. The server has a whitelist, but I'll gladly put anyone who wants in on it. It's free, of course, and my only rules are as follows: be good to other players; don't leave hanging trees; and don't steal things from other player's chests/houses.

So, anyone want in? Just some good old-fashioned Minecraft, like way back in the day.

I would like to play too, please. I don't tend to do very much, except for a tendency to burrow to the bottom of the world forever and build terribly inefficient mobfarms, but it would be nice to do so among like-minded folk.

So, three of my double chests are inexplicably empty. A couple of them didn't have anything important, just various odds and ends, but the other had a fair bit of iron, diamond, and coal. Any chance I could get that replaced, or, barring that, at least find out what happened to them?

I'll be on for the better part of the evening tomorrow, we can get those replaced. Meantime, if I have a bit of free time I'll look through the logs and see if I can figure out what happened. When did you find them empty?

I'll add you up. There's no real policy, but we're trying to link our stuff back to a Teleport Hall we've carved underground. The waypoint to get there is torches in each direction.

Thanks. I'm having trouble connecting though. I'm trying to Direct Connect and getting an Unknown Host error. I tried instead to use the Add Server button and the same thing happens. What am I doing wrong?

It was a copy/paste so that's not it.

However, I think I've identified the problem: Didn't you say you were playing with some kind of mod? If so, that's probably where my issue is since I tried connecting through just vanilla Minecraft.

Nope. It's a bukkit plugin, so it's serverside only. You're using 1.10.2? The next time you try to login, post the time of your attempt here so I can check the logs. I'll see if there's anything at all serverside. If not, it's a problem with your connection.

So the cathedral is coming along, but it would be better if my quarry didn't open up into a lava ravine while I was having an unrelated discussion and wasn't paying attention.

When will the server be updating to 1.11? I'm really excited to mess around with shulker boxes and observer blocks on the server. Presumably Bukkit needs to be updated to 1.11 and I'm not sure how long it will take.

Basically that, yeah. I'm keeping an eye on it, and I'll let you guys know here when it updates (and in turn I update the server).

Edit: Spigot, the Bukkit variant I use, has updated, but it's going to be very rough for the first week or so. I'll update once it settles down and once I'm sure Runecraft works on it.
