According to wiki, though they call it Creme Caramel:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cr%C3%A8me_caramel

Ooooohh...Looky, looky! They have a pic with dulce de leche! ^^ (second pic)
That's something typical of Argentina. And yes, flan is often eaten with both whipped cream AND dulce de leche. Which is like overkill for me. Because it's too sweet, and you can't appreciate the soft, eggy flavor and texture of the flan...

Look at the pic, see what I mean with the holes in the flan? And then on the left there's the dulce de leche.

Oh, I know Creme Caramel. I must say, though, it's good, but not as good as Tiramisu. Not storebought, the restauraunteur type, complete with glass, not plate, and layers of delicous.

Hehehe, I actually made up some Tiramisu last night. I don't expect any will be left by the time I get home though. My friends can tell when I've been making desserts and turn up during the day to raid my fridge.

YOu have a RECIPE for tiramisu?? Why on earth are you here? GO make it, you silly, silly person.
Srsly, some people don't got them priorities straight. Sugar first. Socializing third. Sugar's second.

(Ps, could you send it to me? The recipe? Pwease?pwease?pwease...?

    You mean panqueques?

Also, tiramisú is good, I like it but I'm not a fan. Though I'd have a taste of yours, Yiel.
It's a rule that the restaurant version of something is better than storebought, especially with these delicacies.

All said, even though I enjoy sweet stuff, I find that I get cloyed too easily. Especially with cakes and very sweet stuff. I have low tolerance to exhuberant desserts, though I like them. I tend to prefer softer, subtler tastes.

That's why Tiramisu is good! It's the REAL coffee cake: basically, cake soaked in coffee. It tastes like a different, more interesting coffee, and it's sweet enough to cut a heavy Italian meal but not too sweet. It's just heaven.

EDIT: In response to the simu above, I have one better. Walnut cake with hot vanilla puddin'.

D'anna, I'll type up the recipe when I get home.

My most requested dessert by friends is Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch sauce. Its a family recipe as well, and the dessert that can silence a room.

You know, by the sounds of that, a trek over to Brisbane sounds almost worthwhile. I'm sure those deserts aren't large enough to get in the way of the larger picture (the other type of desserts).

Reaper Fact #245: Next to ginger beer sticky date pudding is my second most favourite thing to devour.

I have to get on and try my late grandmother's recipe for date loaf... I never liked Christmas pudding, so my Chrissy dessert was a couple of slices of date loaf covered in warm custard. Yummm... now to figure out how to make it.

I'm strangely picky when it comes to my desserts... I don't like mixing my dairy and my fruits, hate peel, don't like toooo sweet, don't like coffee, cream or mint. So yeah, I like the idea of tiramisu, and I've had one that I could appreciate for being mostly tasty except it had mangoes (or was it peaches?) in it and the juice got everywhere and curdled the custard and so on, but I've never really come across one I particularly like. The cream is the most frustrating part, though: a dessert without cream is a rare one indeed I think I might be building up a tolerance, though.

Howsabout this. It's delicous, amazing in fact, and you MUST have it.

I call it Strawberries and Mouth.

    Ingredients:
    Strawberries, to taste.

Recipe. Go outside. Buy strawberries. Come home, resisting temptation. wash. Hold up by stem, and savour individually.

    Done.

It is EXCELLENT. Better than almost everything except Waldorf Pudding Cake, Tiramisu, Creme Caramel and maybe, JUST maybe, whipped cream from can.
