Did they throw Pellan in jail just because he's a skeleton? Because I can't think of anything remotely criminal he's done here.

Two alternate possibilities come to mind:

• Kat did hint at bad things happening to Pellan if he refused her...like he just did.
• Being a new chapter, this could be "in media res"-ish and we don't know why he was jailed yet.

If it wasn't a trial for the crime of being a skeleton, what would it have been for then? Littering? (Pellan was framed of course. He might be an unpleasant jerk, but he is not a monster!)

Though I would love to see a trial for the crime of being a skeleton just for its absurdity. What would the defense even be? "You see your honor, the court must acquit my client because we're all skeletons on the inside."

Jokes aside, I can sort of see why the first reaction to seeing a walking, talking skeleton would be to throw it in jail. Mainly because that seems like something abnormal and freaky for the setting, hence why Pellan wears armor that conceals his undead nature. All things considered, it's lucky that folks don't have an "AAAAH! KILL IT!" reaction to him instead.

I mean, we saw people panicking on seeing Pellan way back at the beginning. It's just that nobody tried to throw him in jail (or attack him, IIRC).

It hasn't come up yet. I'm gonna guess 'no', based on A) the fact that his curse seems to have been progressive rather than instant, and B) the fact that he hasn't escaped yet.

Well, things have gotten interesting, especially now, with a hint at the depths of Kat's power.
If the magically-manifesting tiara is anything to go by,
then there's more to the stormfallen than I'd thought.
(Perhaps ethreal armoring?)
On that note, I'm interested in seeing pellan's reaction to what Kat has to say,
and on a larger scale, if this will be a legitimate release, or a jailbreak.

Well, she did go half blue-devil when fighting the bandits. Guess her powers tend to manifest without her control when she's emotional. As for power levels, what she did to those bandits was offscreen, but we can assume it wasn't pretty.

Interesting. Also makes Vis seem a bit less of a jerk, if he literally does have less time to waste.
