Old Hierophant Casimir the third is dead.

This comes as little shock to the polish people. Hierophant Casimir had been sick for a long time. Unable to truly attend to the duties of state, his scribes had to take over more and more of the workload of governance.

But it is not the end of the polish people. The circle of life continues forever onward. For Hierophant Casimir has a daughter.

I did not ask for this monumental burden of statehood. She spoke on the palace steps. But Hierophant Casimir's advisers had an idea. To show ourselves the better men then the Celts who wiped out the people of Brazil. Then the Venetians who resort to swordhood as the first problem solver of their people.

Instead of me, taking the throne by rite of bloodline. Instead of some Polish general taking the throne by rite of conquest. Instead of some priest taking the throne by rite of the divine. We would hold a novel concept.

The world's first election, hosted in 1320 AD. Where the landowners of the Polish people, would vote for who they felt best represented the will of the people.

Taking in 60% of the vote. I shall be the new ruler of the Polish people. Additional elections shall be held at regular intervals.
In addition over time lower governments will be replaced by elected officials as the nobles that hold the titles now die out.

As we speak, our writers and artists are spreading word of our elections to the other nations of the world. There. We will inspire others to follow in our footsteps. Together we can change the world. And it starts now. With us.

Here we see us having sailing. No I didn't spend a turn on sailing. I just had my spy steal it from India. Which made India increase the cost of voting me world host.

I have no aluminium anywhere near my empire. I could wait for recycling plants to get aluminium for spaceship parts, but I kinda want to get hydro plants before info era. So I plant here which will have one eight node 3 tiles out, and another 4 tiles out.
