Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
Oh, good for you! I'm a little jealous
I'll play a game for the internet that you're interested in discussing and then you can post a bunch!
Playin' a game/reading a book where a character buys Absinthe and now imagining you saying all his lines.

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
As I recall that was a large part of the basis for the BlueMoon ship as well.
I periodically think about de-lurking to say something, then get distracted and by the time I come back I've either forgotten what it was I was going to say or the conversation has moved on from whatever I was going to respond to..."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
YES. THERE ALWAYS IS."

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
I need a second opinion. Would you consider the following sentence grammatical:
"The going prices of these items are like if the whole problem had never been solved."
Basically "like if" instead of "as if" is the crux of the matter.Campaign Journal: Uncovering the Lost World - A Player's Diary in Low-Magic D&D (Latest Update: 8.3.2014)

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
It's been a very busy couple of days, I promise I'll respond to people tomorrow when I'm finally free from all of the hectic crap that's been going on. :/
It's as if. If you want to use the word like, then leave the if out altogether. ... or then the latter is not correct at all. But as if is correct in this situation.Originally Posted by LaZodiac

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
I'm aware of "as if" being correct but I'm specifically wondering about whether "like if" could also be used in this scenario in some less formal context. It doesn't ring wrong in my ear; slightly unnatural and certainly vernacular - is this just my ear playing tricks on me?

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
Yes, didn't come to mind to say that like if sounds awkward. I can only think of like and if being after each other in casual speak such as "And like, if I was like gonna be like this and that you know like" etc etc.
..... damn it I need to wake up in 7 hours why am I like this before travelling, always. Can't sleep. I don't feel anxious in the slightest but I just can't sleep.Originally Posted by LaZodiac

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
"As" is the right formal word, but "like" is a reasonably common colloquialism.
For that matter, I'm not sure "are as if" is a common construction either. I think those phrases work better with the singular because they suggest a single scenario, no matter how many objects exist in that scenario.

I'm going to be visiting Denmark, Sweden, and Norway early next year. Super excited to be returning to Denmark and definitely looking forward to visiting the other two for the first time! Maybe in Sweden people will actually understand me when I try to speak Danish.

I thought I was going home. I am not, at least, not yet. Complications arose that made me miss my flight, so here I am in Las Vegas waiting another five hours before I even begin to head home.

Like, gosh, I mean like, I was like, you know like in the bus and like I had reserved a seat and like, omg, like some lady was sitting there but she was like "oh I can switch seats since this is yours" and I was like WHAAAT a nice person like how dare they. But like she was like super nice, like, you know what I mean? And like the bus was like almost like completely full. And like guess what, there were like two buses that left at like the same time. Likely because like this connection that I take is like super popular during holidays and now like everyone fit in the bus. Was a bummer though that I couldn't eat my pick&mix sweets because like, I couldn't like properly reach my bag and like omg like it would have been too cramped anyways cause like the bus was super cramped. Usually they have like much more leg space and stuff.

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
I was in seminary. To make a long story short, I came to the conclusion that priesthood wasn't my calling. I tried being a normal person for a year, got tired of that, and so here I am in the Marine Corps. Or as some sergeant put it, I found a job that makes people meet God, but in a very different way. The military loves dark humor.
Also, I'm finally home. Yaaaaaaaaaay!Last edited by DraPrime; 2016-12-23 at 07:29 PM.

Re: WarKitty's Feline Frenzy Random Banter #216
So, on the insistence of le Lunar Feline, I am making a post. It's gonna be a posty post, with pictures! All the pictures, you say? No! Only some! I am a lazy and malovolent god.
There have been things. We saw Rogue One. I enjoyed it a loooooooooooot. Moonie tolerated it. She brought me to what I would call "ocean". There was also a touristy-kiddie learning center there, and we went in it, and I learned about named whales, naming whales, and dead whales. Whale bones, whale guts, many things! I learned about mollusks and sea anemenemenmimimies, and why Patrick Star is anatomically incorrect.
Spoiler: SWINGIESI look good in this one. Lookit tha'. Look at my pretty.
I laugh, in a photogenic manner. This swing was actually loads of fun, if hard to really get on.
One more pictures to inflict, then I will actually go sleep. In my normal timezone, I'd almost be waking up.
You may notice things on my face. These are additions that Moonie felt were complimentory. I mind them not.
Serious funloads are being had, but I lack the exhileration at 3:30 in the AM to really do it justice. Do wish a Merry Festivasiful Christmas to all though!Last edited by Mutant Sheep; 2016-12-24 at 06:47 AM.
