Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Such a ruling wouldn’t completely invalidate that talent, as it still has an action cost savings, but it would significantly devalue it.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
So, playing with a few friends with SoP and SoM and noticed the Transformation feat. I am trying to figure out how it exactly works in the rules.
If I understand it correctly, you get the appearance of a specific monster, all of its special abilities (Juvenile white dragon for example would get Snow Vision, Icewalking and Ice shape) But also any natural attacks and movement abilities (So previous example would get Claws, Bite, Wings, Burrow, Fly and the like) But none of the stats (Keeping your own Strength, Dexterity and Constitution for instance).
What limits this? Only size? Why does the Caster Level have to do with it? If you permanently increase your size by something like Permanent Alteration and use this, would you get access to a shape that could potentially be Huge or larger? I tried looking for some errata or explanation on it, because it seems like it would be awfully broken at best.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
The Transformation feat lets you use a single form essentially at will and gives you the traits matching that form.
For example, if you want to turn into a dragon, you'd do so by taking on a Draconic Form per the Draconic Transformation talent, which describes the various abilities you gain. If you wanted to gain more, you'd have to gain levels and then use the Improved Transformation feat to improve your alternate form.
So I'm afraid you were simply misunderstanding the Transformation feat. If anything, it is somewhat on the weak side compared to other SoP content despite being very flavorful and convenient for creating werewolves and the like.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Rungo is correct; the feat is tied entirely to the Alteration sphere and its talents.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Considering that most people never knew of the nerf-rule from core, the effect is negligible. Although the talent should be made broader in its effect. Currently it is even less worth than the Mass Meld one.
I talked with Adam about this. He considers this to be the general ruling unless someone puts a convincing argument forth, why it shouldn't be in a certain case.Avatar made by Mehangel - "Neigh?"

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Two questions for Alteration:
Q410
Anything other than blank form always makes all your gear meld with your new form, and everything other than passive benefits from wondrous items is "lost" for the caster until they turn back, correct?
In addition, the target’s equipment melds into their new form, causing them to lose their armor and shield bonuses and the ability to pull any item from a backpack or belt. They also cannot activate magic items (although constant bonuses from magic items still remain).
Q411
Does this mean that a caster with Focused Casting will be unable to use said focus, because it will always be melded and therefore unavailable?

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Q412
If a character turns into an elemental via "Elemental Transformation", do they gain the various traits listed in the Elemental Trait entry of PFSRD:
Immunity to bleed, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning.
Not subject to critical hits or flanking. Does not take additional damage from precision-based attacks, such as sneak attack.
Proficient with natural weapons only, unless generally humanoid in form, in which case proficient with all simple weapons and any weapons mentioned in its entry.
Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Elementals not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Elementals are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor.
Elementals do not breathe, eat, or sleep.
The target gains a 30 ft move speed and a 25% ability to ignore critical hits and precision damage, which increases
by 25% per 5 caster levels to a maximum of 100%. The target gains
2 slam attacks (Primary, 1d6, 1d4 small), natural armor equal to
2 +1 per 5 caster levels, and one of the following packages depending on which elemental is being mimicked
(This is usually a movement mode, energy resistance and one other bonus)

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
A410 That is correct.
A411 As a focus is not really providing a constant effect benefit, I would say a merged one doesn't work. It can't be sundered or stolen, which defeats the drawbacks of the drawback. Might be able to ask you DM if you could drop it before it merges then pick it up again after, but that is houserule territory.
A412 You get only what the talent says. Your actual type is not changed.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Q413 (Creator's Handbook): The Ultimate Arena arsenal trick says that it requires the "empowered arena" trick, but I do not see a trick by that name. Is there an arsenal trick missing from the book, or should that be a different trick that is required?
EDIT: Maybe it's supposed to say Arena Burst? That would make sense given that the ability explicitly refers to Arena Burst and applies its same effect.Last edited by TheIronGolem; 2018-01-05 at 06:41 PM.

Is the symbiat supposed to be able to use shields? It has very similar wording to the monk's AC bonus, but it doesn't mention losing the bonus when carrying a shield, is that intentional?World of Madius wiki - My personal campaign setting, including my homebrew Optional Gestalt/LA rules.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Just heard there was a Creation question here, I guess as the author I should be the one answering these;
1) Yes, if you've got acidic creation you can create an acid coating on an object as you create it.
2) I hadn't considered it and the way it's written wouldn't allow it. I'd probably allow it by increasing the SP cost of whatever you were creating by 1 though (I haven't run the numbers on this though, it might make damage scale too ridiculously and you should absolutely run this by your GM first).
3) The ice would be nonmagical, it'd only do bludgeoning (or piercing or slashing, I suppose, if you made icicles or razor sharp sheets). Hail doesn't do cold damage after all. (Though if you were really interested in doing cold damage, maybe ask the GM to allow it to do cold instead of physical damage, or maybe half and half, if you have Enhanced Creation, justifying it as magical ice)Lilith Avatar by AsteriskAmp

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Apologies if this has been answered already, but I couldn't find the answer.
According to the Creation sphere, a Colossal+ item, such as a tavern, requires a caster level of 64 to create, if I'm reading the table correctly.
My question is this: how does one get 64 caster levels? I haven't found anything to increase caster level beyond HD, and even if you take the talent that allows you to create larger things, a colossal+ item still requires 32 caster levels.
Is there something simple I've just overlooked?

Sphere staves, specialist incanter/wizard, thaumaturge, circle casting, and boons are all ways to increase CL above HD.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
I have a few questions/ideas about Telekinesis
1: Limited Telekinesis: What would you rule on taking Limited Telekinesis and going for either Flesh or Metal to get the Flight talent (Flesh being self explanatory and metal saying you simply give someone's metal armor flight)
2: A Personal Telekinesis Flaw: Kinda obvious saying that you can only use telekinesis on yourself. this seems like an absolutely terrible flaw I admit just because of the fact that fly would be the only real option. but I have some ideas regarding that that I'll go over in part 3
3: Equipment traits: Admittedly maybe this is stepping on enhancement's toes but here's an idea. Various forms of telekinesis that let you give passive buffs to certain abilities based on your casting modifier (with a maximum of half your caster level to balance it out) at the cost of a spell point, letting you use it for
Reflex saves (using telekinesis to pull friends out of the way)
Attack or damage (but not both at one time)
Strength for carrying capacity (replicating Telekinetic Muscle from a certain third party Kineticist book)
dodge bonus to AC (same as reflex saves reason)

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Q 417
When using alteration to assume the form of an earth elemental, you gain earth glide. This lets you "can pass through stone, dirt, or almost any other sort of earth except metal as easily as a fish swims through water."
In regards to water combat, it says the following:
"Attacks from Land: Characters swimming, floating, or treading water on the surface, or wading in water at least chest deep, have improved cover (+8 bonus to AC, +4 bonus on Reflex saves) from opponents on land."
Does that mean by declaring yourself floating while in this form, you effectively benefit from improved cover at almost all times? (whenever you're on ground that supports earth glide, which is basically everything)

Any reason the Creators Handbook doesn't seem to be on Paizo? I would get it from Drive Thru but I like all my downloads being in one place.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Q418 If you use the Hybrid Transformation feat, does your equipment still merge with you?
Q419 What about if you use Transformation to turn into a form which wouldn't equipment merge under the normal polymorph rules (for example, a bipedal Outsider)?Last edited by ChrisAsmadi; 2018-01-17 at 06:39 PM.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
A419 Well, the second answer is that the form talent in question doesn't change the result.
A418 The first answer...a strict reading of the first line means that you are using the transformation feat, so the normal merger applies. It should have been addressed directly though.Last edited by stack; 2018-01-17 at 08:27 PM.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
The reason it's unclear as to if equipment merges is that the feat specifically mentions extra arms not being able to activate magic items (amongst other equipment related things) - under the normal Alteration rules, there'd be no reason to mention this, because while transformed, those items would be merged with you, and thus you wouldn't be able to activate them with any limb, added or otherwise.
So if equipment merged with a Hybrid Transformation (something it doesn't do for normal PF Lycanthropes, incidentally), what's the point of that whole extra arms section of the feat?
e: The fact that it explicitly mentions drawing sheathed weapons and retrieving stored items (things you can't normally do when under a form talent) points towards it not merging, too.Last edited by ChrisAsmadi; 2018-01-17 at 10:34 PM.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
Is stacking it with armour really an issue when you can already do that with custom made armour or Unarmoured Mastery (or, possibly, bracers)?
The only difference in this case is that it comes earlier (or, when compared with someone taking Unarmoured Mastery without any martial talent progression, a feat cheaper).
If that's really an issue, you could always errata it so that you can only use armour properly at effective CL 8 or 9?
e: For some reason I thought Wild armour worked on all polymorphs, not just Wild Shape.Last edited by ChrisAsmadi; 2018-01-17 at 10:52 PM.

Re: Spheres of Power Ask Me Anything #2
For the outsider forms and similar it is already fairly easy to stack armor with Transformation AC, you just need to equip it after transforming. With a duration of permanent until you change back, it is possible to live for as long as you like in Celestial/Fiendish form.
