Avita, still hunched behind the top of the barricade, tucks away the mirror and rises to one knee, notching an arrow and preparing to rise and fire as soon as the others are ready.

"So, trust you're all about to spring into action?"

Silvet breathes deeply in, then lets out a blast of entangling flames.

Sword in hand, Andras waits for the gout of fire to disperse before charging in, sword raised high. However, she misses a step at the bottom of the rubble, and her swing goes astray.

Charging down the pile of rubble and debris, your party hits the unaware abominations like a cannonball. Sarim slices the nearest one's claw clean off, then comes back for more. The thing's flesh proves no sturdier than that of a normal child, and it falls to the pavement. Avita's arrow pierces the chest of the bongo player with a wet thud, and it slumps over it's instruments, dead. Silvet's blast of flame hits 5 of the remaining 6, 1 of which crumples to the ground as charred corpse, and the others writhe and squirm, trapped by slithering bonds of fire.

Olidar, encouraged by your example, dives in the fight with a cry and finishes off one of the children.

The children are... unnerving. They display no visible emotions, but the survivors begin sucking and slurping with their bloody stumps, in what you assume is anger, and struggle towards you despite their fiery bonds. Two try, with a complete lack of success, to gouge Silvet with their claws. Another tries to claw Andras' face, but she fends off it's wild swipes, and one more claws Sarim's leg leaving a long but shallow gash.

"Scratch that theory", mutters Avita obscurely, and since all the children are now in combat, sends an arrow toward the one that just clawed Sarim.

Andra's next attempt is steadier, if weaker, but the swing at least connects.

Avita's shot misses by miles, but she's not too despondent. Shooting into combat is for trained archers, not for arcanists who got a bit of bow practise in after eldritch ritual time. And the combat seems to be rapidly moving the parties way.

"Guys, just a thought for when all the chooks are cooked. How about no-one touch those bongo-drums? Five gets you ten they've got something to do with what's happened here."

Though Eric and Avita's projectiles hit a nearby house and the pavement, respectively, Silvet's fiery breath turns the two children in front of her into charred meat, and Andras and Sarim handily dispatch the last two demons. It seems whatever evil purpose they served has come to an end.

Olidar lowers his sword, a look of disgust evident on his face. "Glad that's over... If you want to look at these things, be quick about it. We're almost back to friendly territory."

"My curiosity is quite sated" declares Avita primly, pulling in her rope and grapple and repacking them in her backpack. "I think the best thing we can do now is get back to somewhere with stuff to buy, buy stuff, and tell people with a bit more knowledge what we have just seen. If nothing else, people should know the barricade has been pierced at this point. THEN we go plead with the princes in the tower."

"Those things were a bunch of pansies. At least these creatures were easier to kill comparing to our earlier demon encounter."

"They were children, Eric. And I do mean "were"", says Avita. "Well, whatever the frell happened to them I don't think it's worth lingering here to find out. Although if someone wants to pick up a heavy rock and smash that pair of bongos, that might be nice."

"I'll do it!" Eric find a heavy rock and smash the bongo drum with the heavy rock.

Eric brings down his rock in several brutal jabs, reducing the drums to a little pile of kindling.

During the short walk back to the gates into Senra-proper, you see no signs of danger. The guards on the wall stare at you, perhaps suspicious of infiltration, but the gates swing open with a creak. As you enter, the change from burnt-out ruins to bustling city is rather abrupt.

Within Olidar directs you to a small warehouse two streets over, while he runs back to the inn to report to his superiors. When you all arrive at the little warehouse - you suspect it was a barn, before being requisitioned - you find it overrun by soldiers, workmen, civil servants and a few adventurers like yourself. Apparently this is the armoury for the Black Shingle theatre of war. A bored-looking young woman sitting outside at a desk crammed with papers waves you over, and introduces herself as Quartermaster Valus.

"I should be able to find you anything you need, providing you're willing to pay.," she says, while sorting a stack of records with. "We're much too short on supplies to handout free gear to everyone who asks."

Avita counts out six gold pieces and rattles them around idly. "Got twenty Cold Iron arrows and a dagger, also Cold Iron?" she asks. "I can pass on the dagger if you don't have a lot, but I'm gonna need those arrows."

I, on the other hand, really need some cold iron weaponry. Preferably light and easy to use, so a dagger should work.

Valus nods. "We should be able to make that work. The arrows will cost you two gold pieces, and we have daggers for four. Cold iron is expensive, but the soldiers say it's more than worth it... Anything else you need?"

"Yes I would like to sell my armor and weapons. Because I need an armor and weapons upgrade please. Can you do that and be able to help me please?"

"I'm going to need something a little... heftier," Andras says, fishing in her pockets and pouch for 20 gold coins that she slides across the desk. "Would you have a cold iron halberd to spare?"

"Anythin' here I can use? Maybe somethin' like me axe? " Sarim asks as he fishes his pockets for whatever gold he has

Avita looks thoughtful. "This is going to be an odd request, and even if you have it I'm not sure if I need it right now." Her eyes go up to the ceiling and then back again. "Is it possible to get UNholy water? Cursed water? Hydrogen Dioxide suffused with negative energy?" She looks around to check everyone's reaction. "Healing potions and spells don't work on me; but that stuff might."

"Hey I don't want to be a beggar or anything, But can somebody buy me a thieving kit or have any extra money so I could buy whatever I need is really appreciated."
