Exp help

So..,im starting to think i do my exp rewards wrong ,..last night running with a group of 4 ( 2 lvl 3 2 lvl 2) we killed 12 cr half goblins 4 cr 2 spiders ( nearly killed the party with those due to bad fort rolls) and then 2 cr 3 bug bear zombies ....i feel like that should have been more than the 2025 exp that the calculator for encounters gave me... Help?

..oh well crap then, i felt like it shoud have been worth. More mostly since those spiders were destroying the party with str damage ..made those zombie bug bears alot scarier ( no magic cept of. The lvl 2 bard at the time)

even though it was hard, it makes the pcs feel accomplished.
The game is no fun without existential threats.

Looks to me like you got an ad-hoc bonus, actually.

I just ran your numbers thru an exp calc of my own and it says that encounter should be worth 6000 xp total or 1500 xp per player.

That's what I got, too, using this 3.5 calculator. Pathfinder would be different.

Right my bad i added in bonus exp since they accomplished a thing and all i remembered. Was the total

Enemies that deal ability damage can be overly crippling in multiples. It's worth awarding bonus XP in cases where synergies like this make the group more than the sum of its parts.

So I take it they got 2025 XP each, not total?

Looks like it's right, then. That's a lot of XP at levels 2-3.

Correct, ...honestly i have a bad habbit of throwing alot of stuff at the party ( mostly from all the groups ive run with being very large +6 people a session) and all the DM i played with had us lvling quickly. ...i see all these posts about it taking people months of playing to get to 12+ lvls and i normally hit that in about 6 or 7 sessions >>( once a week with my current group)

I do 4-6 medium encounters = 1 level.
