    Default Metroid Zero Mission

Was recently itching to play ZM, so I busted out my DS. Noticed I was missing a gallery picture, so decided to go for a 15% Hard mode run.

First off, I like how the game turned out. Great remake of a classic IMO.

For my 15% run, I'm bout ready to go to Tourain (ugh, Metroids...), and trying to decide what to get for my last powerup.

    Currently I have:
    Required-
    Morph Ball
    Missiles (1 pickup)
    Bombs
    Power Grip
    Varia Suit
    Ice Beam
    Plasma Beam (Inactive)
    Gravity Suit (Inactive)
    Space Jump (Inactive)

    Optional-
    1 Energy Tank
    2 Super Missile Pickups
High Jump (easier mobility, and making it out of tourain in time on Hard Mode)
Screw Attack (Easier mobility, and easier time on Mother Brain and Mecha Ridley being able to spin through some shots and missiles)

Trying to decide between a second Energy Tank (for 50 more health), or a third Super Missile (that single missile per on hard mode...)

Anyone here also have fond memories of this game? Anyone managed a 15% Hard run?

I've managed to complete the 15% run and I'll tell you for sure, A successful 15% run is mostly dependent on your item choice. 9% is
required of you, and the remaining 6% you can spend on whatever you
like, but you'd better make it the most useful stuff possible. You
don't want to waste a point on power bombs, for instance, when they
are entirely unnecessary for killing enemies or opening passageways.
A lot of this will be personal preference, so don't let me hold you
back. From the items you've listed, I think you're on the right path, good luck.

Never done any of the challenge runs, but I do love me some Zero Mission.

It's an excellent remake, superior to the original Metroid in every way, and I'd say in some ways, even superior to Super Metroid.
Zero Mission has the more refined controls and gameplay, but I find Super to still be the better overall experience.

In any case, it's my number two 2D metroid game, beaten by only a slight margin to the top spot by Super (I've yet to play AM2R, so can't make any judgement there).

Decided on a second normal missile tank after watching a 10% hard mode speedrun (some versions have 10% min due to 3 missile blocks that respawn in some releases of the game). That 4th missile helped a LOT against the metroids in Tourain.

Periodically workin on MoBrain. It's the sort of thing whrre I feel I *can* get it, but I keep messing up (missing a jump, etc).

I highly recommend AM2R. It's extremely well put together, especially for a fan-made game. The quality is pretty much at a professional level. It really took Metroid 2 from being my least liked Metroid game to my most favorite one.
