Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
As the night's peaceful conversations ended and residents allowed their minds to turn back to the reality of their situation, one man's voice brought everyone back to present in an instant.
"Hey! Does anyone see the person who tried to steal from me??" Residents quickly recognize the man responsible for locking Generic-Guy in The Box. "AHH! If that little swine is trying to steal from me again, I won't be so easy this time!!"
A mad search is launched for Kish, who had not only escaped the man's wrath before, but escaped the notice of many of the residents since. With so many eyes looking, it was only a matter of time until- "I found them!!" Startled by the eyes suddenly upon them, Kish can do nothing but stare wide-eyed and open-mouthed. In their arms is a lunchbox, with an unusual number of wires coming from it, leading to a small glowing device clutched in their right hand. The man who started the search pushes through the growing crowd.
"There you are you slick little snake. I bet you stole that too!"
"I didn't steal this. All I want is to be left alone." Kish turns slightly, shielding the lunchbox behind their body. "Turn around and leave me be or I'll use this!"
The man's intensity wavers. The device scares him some, but not enough to turn tail. He stands there, awkwardly, unable to think of words to speak or an action to take. From the crowd, Logic steps up next to the man and nods to him."We'll get him together! He won't steal from any of us again." Together the pair rush at Kish, who backs up frantically, nowhere to go and movements hampered by the device in his arms.
"No!! Chief!" A figure jumps forward from the crowd brandishing a pistol. "Get down!"
A shot rings out, followed by a massive explosion. Smoke and bottlecaps pelt the crowd and it takes a while for anyone to see what happened. All that's left is a massive charred hole in the floor. Bottlecaps are embedded in the floors, wall and ceiling in a circular pattern emanating from where Kish and Logic had been standing. Near as anyone can tell, the lunchbox must have hid an explosive of some sort and been full bottlecaps to act as lethal fragments. No one can tell if the bullet struck the explosive directly, or if the the device had been activated by Kish intentionally or unintentionally. All that was conclusive is that both are dead. Kish's body cradles the wreckage of the lunchbox, while Logic's has a curious assortment of tiny screws and screwdrivers around his. The Pip-Boy on Logic's wrist sparks several times before dying completely. In that instant, the Pip-Boy on everyone's wrist similarly goes dark, giving every resident a solemn clue as to who he was.
Kish has been killed. They were the Security Chief.
Logic has been caught in the blast. They were the Pip-Boy Technician.
Later in the day, overwhelmed by the nightmarish life she found herself in, Lex-Kat locks herself in her room and bars the door to keep the monsters from getting to her. Despite numerous attempts, no one is able to bring her back.
Lex-Kat has auto-lynched. She was a Resident.

My area was hit with power outages yesterday, and I was unable to get a post through. Now that I'm back at work, I'll get one out at some point today. Until I do, please consider the night as still active.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
As the night dragged on, hushed whispers could be heard from the outside of closed doors. The faint tinkling of keys breaks through the silence as a lone figure makes her rounds. A massive hoop of keys lies at her waist, but she barely spares it a look as she methodically locks and unlocks the doors and passages she comes to. There was an understanding between the woman and her keys, and she knew them from tip to bow. To her, each key was a friend with a detailed history told by the peaks and valleys of its cuts. Another door locks shut with a snick, shortly followed by furious banging from the resident within.
"Who's out there?!? Unlock this door now!!" Frantic breathing can be heard from within. "P-Please don't leave me in here!"
The woman cackles to herself and hums a jaunty funeral dirge as she continues through the Vault. Her steps change cadence suddenly and she measures her paces until she is in front of a certain door, unremarkable though it may be. She places an ear against the door and nods to herself before rapping on it with one of her keys.
"Xihirli's BBQ Service! You kill 'em we grill 'em!" Another cackling laugh as this lock clicks shut too, trapping the resident within.
"You crazy witch! You let me out right now! Do you have any idea what I'll do once I get out?" Screaming again, but more angry than scared. Rage, even.
"You just stay there and you'll like it! Just wait til we get a hold of you in the day!" Xihirli laughs again and jangles her keys by the door. "I just can't seem to find the right one to let you out!"
"But I have the right lock!" An explosion of colorful stars fills Xihirli's vision as she falls to the ground.
Staring up from the floor, Xihirli sees a figure holding an immense lock, taken from one of the doors to the reactor core. Even she didn't have the key to that one. In fact, only one person did, not that it mattered anymore. The lock rose and fell one final time, and the figure scoops the key ring from where it lay on the ground. The locked door is reopened in short order and the figure with the lock tosses the key ring to the freed resident with a snarl.
"It's dangerous to go alone! Take this."
Xihirli was clocked with a lock. She was the Maintenance Worker.

I'll join the Murska of Yesterday in voting for Duck999. Murska of Future Past Participle, did Logic manage to scryify any wolves?

My gut is currently saying that
ThePhantomis just coasting again. Also, the laser focus on Kish (who happened to be the beast) seems in retrospect a safe bussing choice for distancing purposes.Last edited by Thematthew; 2017-03-23 at 01:36 PM.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
Both
ThePhantomand Duck999 seem like reasonable options for the lynch today, and I'm presently leaning towards the former.
If Logic did successfully scry any wolves, however, we should go for them first. A confirmed wolf would be better than a potential wolf for the lynch.Last edited by Grand Arbiter; 2017-03-23 at 10:17 AM.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
Is there some behind the scenes contact going on here? From what I see, there's just 3 people voting for me with no reason. Murska obviously isn't a wolf, but the other two seem to just be playing follow the leader, which isn't the most town behavior, especially when your leader doesn't explain why you should follow them. Between Ramsus and Phantom, I'd say thePhantom is a better choice. Effort or no, there is usually someone giving a reason for the person Phantom votes for.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
Well, it could be that the network is trying to give us villagers a bit of a work so they can then make at least a bit of vote analysis instead of just steamrolling through the day with following the leader circle. So, I'm not following and I have to break a tie so
I point at ThePhantom.Last edited by Zar Peter; 2017-03-23 at 04:16 PM.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
Even though it had cost them one of their own, finally finding one of the Overseer's compatriots energized the remaining residents. Morale was high and they were starting to finally feel like it was possible to reclaim control of their lives. One such resident, Duck999, had taken to gathering strips of cloth and painstakingly tying them together. "We need to be smart about this," he said. "The next time we find one of the Overseer's minions, we need to make sure there are no more innocent deaths. This way, when we suspect someone, we can tie them up until we are sure of who we think they are." Duck999 tugs on both ends of the makeshift rope to demonstrate its strength.
"That's really something," Murska replied. "Hey, ThePhantom, get a load of this rope Duck999 made!"
"Wow, that's pretty nifty." ThePhantom whistles at the strong cord that Duck999 produced. "Take a look at this Zar Peter!"
"That is some fine quality rope," Zar Peter marveled. "Get over here and take a peek, Libro!"
Duck999 glances around nervously as a small crowd begins to encircle him. He fights back an urge to make a break towards space; it's doubtful he'd be able to make it far anyways.
"It's really hard to find quality stuff just lying around," Libro muses aloud. "We're lucky to have someone as handy as you."
"Yeah, it's nothing really. Just wanting to help and do my-" Duck999 stops as a pair of the residents around him grab either end of the rope and begin to walk in opposite circles around him. "Now, this really is too far!"
Rough hands grab Duck999 from behind and force him to stay still as the pair wind the rope tighter and tighter around his body. "Where do you think you're going, friend?" Thematthew grins, hands holding Duck999 still. The nervous look on Duck999's face is replaced by one of utter contempt.
"Unhand me at once you ungrateful louts! Do you have any idea how much I've helped us all survive? How much I've sacrificed from the shadows to keep you all happy?" Duck999's face reddens as he spits the words out.
"Sure we do. We know all about your supposed 'help'. You'd have us all groveling at your feet if you could. Hell, you'd kill us just to see in what way our bodies hit the ground." Murska nods to the other five and a trussed Duck999 is lifted into the air. "Now, let's use that rope for something with a little ceremony to see you off with style!"
The six salute Duck999 as he's treated to a quick drop and a sudden stop.
Duck999 has been lynched. He was the Overseer.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
A celebration ran through the night; the Overseer was dead! People finally let down their guards as they rejoiced. The war was over! With both the Security Chief and Overseer gone, there was no one to lead the oppressive former leadership.
"We are free!"
There was much work to be done, and with the lights remaining on throughout the night, the residents were all too happy to pitch in. Debris from the previous fighting was cleared. Bodies, even of the Overseer and Security Chief, were cremated in a solemn ceremony. All trace of the war was wiped clean and the vault was brought back to a civilized state, at least at first glance. In the early hours before morning, a figure began speaking to those around him.
"The Overseer and the Chief are dead. No more are any of us, even any officers still in hiding, trapped under their influence." ThePhantom looked upon a hopeful crowd, though with far fewer faces than had come to the Vault. "We are all in this together and there is no more reason to fight amongst ourselves. The first step to moving past the horrors they forced us all through is to trust each other. I want us all to get there, together, and it starts with who we are, who we were before the bombs fell. It's not easy to bring up our past life, especially with the trials we've been put through since entering the vault." ThePhantom smiles nervously and takes a few steps back, setting himself as an individual addressing the crowd instead of as a part of it. "I'd like to go first, if that's alright."
ThePhantom collects himself and takes a deep breath. As his mouth opens to speak, a surprised look crosses his face and the breath wheezes out of him. A single red dot traces a line through the crowd and makes its way towards him, eventually stopping right over his heart. His body rocks backwards as a bullet soon finds that dot, and a derisive laugh echoes over the intercom.
"The first to go alright!" The voice guffaws. "Anyone else want ta say the Overseer's rule is over?"
ThePhantom has been shot through the heart. He was the Chosen One.
Begin Day 7.

Re: Fallout 1: Global Thermonuclear War
The remaining confirmed Town are Ramsus and myself.
TheMatthew seems pretty off to me.
Libro was the crucial vote swap against Duck, and if he's a wolf doing that requires some magnificent cojones. I'm going to trust Libro to not be a wolf, plus he's been scried as Resident anyway so there's less chance of him being one than most of us here.
Ramsus is the last remaining Mason.
Leaves Zar Peter and TheMatthew to pick from as wolves. They might both be wolves for all I know, and if there's only one wolf left we win by lynching both of them. But if one of them is a Resident and Libro is a wolf with the other, that's when things might get very bad for us, so that's what you have to convince me of.
