Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Carla's eyes widen slighly at the sight of the musty tomb, seemingly catching a hint of a golden glint from a far-off lamp. She whistles, and her voice come with a girlish excitement "Fancy trick, that! Well, this looks interesting. Normally, I wouldn't have bothered, but since we are here, let's poke our heads a bit. No messing around with dead bodies unless they move, though. I've heard enough stories about curses, I don't want to actually get in one, hehe," she giggles softly.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Ardino raised an eyebrow. Where was this giggly act from Carla coming from? Still, what mattered at the moment was advancing towards their goals, and a minimum of talking was best. He held up his hand in a shushing motion and began to sneak forward.

Dirkust fiddled with his pack eventually pulling a long, copper rod from its confines. He twisted the cap on one end and it began to shine brightly. This should help us see a bit better.

"That's exactly what we need! Do you want me to carry it, draw less attention to yourself?"
Gavin offered, moving into the tomb and keeping his rapier pointed in the direction of the tunnel.
Hopefully this would lead them to where they needed to go, and not into some other smuggler's bolthole.I didn't actually intend to kill EVERYONE. It just sort of happened.

Rapier in one hand and the sunrod in the other, Gavin nods at the tunnel entrance.
"Do you want to be ahead of us in the darkness or behind us?"
Gavin asks Ardino, and then once he has his answer, he ducks down at much as he needs to and carefully crouch-walks his way down through the tunnel - hopefully it opens up a bit more further inside!I didn't actually intend to kill EVERYONE. It just sort of happened.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
The four of you make your way through the dark tunnel, keeping as quiet as you know how. Briefly you can hear the muffled sounds of argument on the streets above you, and then it fades as you emerge into a dark room. Illuminated by the light of Dirkust's sunrod, you can see this must be the entrance to the tomb Cressida currently guards. Piles of dust and bone are scattered in the corners, broken vases and statuary line the walls, and four stone pillars support the ceiling above, their carvings worn away to nothing.
In the dust, you can see a number of footprints leading towards a broken door to your south, as well as marks indicating that something heavy was dragged through here recently. The faint smell of something chemical cuts through the musty air of the tomb.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Doing his best to shield the light of the sunrod from the front entrance to the tomb - they really didn't need the sight of light coming from the tomb to be the final straw for DeVries - Gavin slowly makes his way over to the broken door leading deeper into the tomb. Every sense is on high alert at this point, as it seems likely they'd be stepping into a den of vipers in a few moments.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
The light of the sunrod causes several bits of glass to shimmer by the broken down door. Gavin notes a black residue on a few pieces - likely the remains of a vial of Shudder. As he approaches the door, whispers fill the air and a cold wind blows through the entryway. A low moan fills the room, and bones begin to shift. Four human skeletons clamber to life, rags and bits of chains hanging over bloodstained bones. A fifth creature crawls out of a large pile to the right. Its shape reminds you of the monster Baldrago had become, if it had been striped of all flesh. It hisses a challenge.
Round one
FIGHT!

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Gavin moves around behind the nearby pillar, peering around it occasionally to keep an eye on the flayed man-horse-dragon thing.
"These appear to be some sort of reanimated human skeletons, my friend."
Gavin remarks to Dirkust's question, providing the obvious answer.
"Not sure what that other thing in the back is though - everybody be careful, it's probably one of Lamm's freaks."
Any of the skeletons that got close would feel the bite of Gavin's rapier - at least, they would if they still had flesh. Or nerves to feel the thrust, for that matter - he'd have to aim for their skulls and hope the impact rips the skull off.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Dirkust mouth ran dry. He would be glad the mask concealed his fear but it probably didn't matter. These... remains probably didn't understand fear. Not anymore. As he tried to steady his breathing, he desperately searched for something to do. Of course! He cupped his palm and a coalescence of energy gathered there. He thrust it forward, towards the renanimated skeleton Gavin moved to engage. The blast of negative energy shot out in a sickly darkness that ate the meager light of the Warrens.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Carla and Ardino leap forward, each one splintering one of the skeletons into bone shards, the dark magic animating them unable to keep their fragile forms together. The two remaining humanoid skeletons converge on Ardino, each taking a swipe at him with their claw like hands. Dirkust's elemental blast swings wide from one skeleton, smashing into a nearby pillar.
The larger skeleton clambers out of the pile of bones, and squeezes its way around the four pillars in the center of the room. It comes face to face with Carla, and roars in her face. Cold, dusty air washes over her as the once living bones rattle and shake.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Gavin blinks as Dirkust hurls a ball of energy past his head at one of the skeletons - he could that!?
Did . . . did that mean he could do it too?
Gavin sheaths his rapier, and then outstretches his now free hand towards the abomination and concentrates.
On what exactly, he isn't sure, but he can feel the energy building, and hear the faintest skittering of leaves across stone.
Then, a barrage of wooden shards suddenly appears from thin air, battering the massive skeleton doing battle with Carla!

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Gavin releases a blast of wood, but it passes through the spaces between the larger skeleton's bones. Ardino whirls around, one of his strikes swinging past the first skeleton, but his second strike shattering its target. Carla roars out a challenge, and swings her flail, crushing into the skeletal drake's skull. It cracks, the jaw spinning off and breaking against the stone wall. The undead creature still stands however, and rears back.
The drake skeleton swings one massive claw at Carla, and catches her across the chest. The bone crushes a rib, and a little bit of blood drips out of the berserker's mouth. The beast grabs her in both claws, and raises her up to bite down on her head. Carla pulls her head down, further into the creature's grasp, but just far enough that the fangs close on empty air. The last humanoid skeleton claws at Ardino, but he easily dances out of the way.

Unfortunately, that had cost her, and the bony claw was barely stopped by the chain shirt. The shock momentarily stunned her, and the big thing had managed to get her in its clutches.
