Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Seeing that Ardino seems to have full control of the Yargin situation upstairs, Mordin whirls around to face the new threat. Giggles... so many memories associated with that name. The cries and screams of children well up in his mind, coupled with the feeling that he could have stopped this so much earlier, if he had not been so easily led by Lamm.
He stands next to the door and swings the greatsword towards Giggles, while also trying to catch a glimpse of the room beyond.
Spoiler: OOCMove + Attack roll against Giggles (don't know if she has partial cover) (1d20+5)[20]
Damage: (2d6+7)[15]
I also try to see if the door is in fact a double door leading to the same room, since I may want to push past and cut her off next turn in that case.

Lady Selancourte
Despite feeling uneasy about the prospect of somebody coming in through the other doors ever since they had entered the warehouse, Vestis was still taken by surprise by the half-orc woman's appearance.
Turning towards her, she whispered another "सावधान, सैनिक!" in her direction.
She tried to take a look into the room beyond, and if she saw any children out there, she would call out "रहो, थोड़ा छोटा!", hoping for Acele to hear her.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Carla
Well blow me down, Carla thinks. Gana Giggles, me armed and a bunch of thugs on my side for a change... Whatever I did to deserve this must have been pretty nice. Pity I can't remember it.
She looks at Yargin. The rat might be faking it, but she doesn't have much time. She considers breaking a leg or two, it's not like the bastard doesn't deserve it... but they don't have time. Plus, she needs to save some venom for Giggles. Vengeance should be savored and tasted properly, not wasted. She looks at the big mastiff, then points at the door to the room where Yargin now is. "Sevnoir, guard the door. Got this? Don't let him pass. Guard. Here." She isn't sure how well the dog understands, but it is smarter than your average dog. Meanwhile, she has something she wants to attend to personally.
She throws the and rushes downstairs. "Hey Gaaana, guess what - I got one too this time."
Later, if she has the chance, she may wonder to what degree the half-orc's weapon of choice influenced her and if she shouldn't choose something not based on her childhood tormentor. This time, though, it is so wonderfully karmic.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Avrin smiles as Yargin falls under the blows of his allies. One down. A few more to go... Unhurriedly he walks over to retrieve his spent crossbow bolt from the floor and carefully restores it to its place in his belt quiver, then turns in surprise to see another of Lamm's old cronies enter the fight, and once again his new allies seem to have it more than under control as they dash to engage her.
Doesn't matter whose hand holds the knife. Vengeance is vengeance... He thinks to himself in satisfaction. He opens up his coat, retrieving his small shield from its hiding place at the small of his back, then carefully straps it to his left arm. "The kids can't be far. Let's get her out of the way and get down there." He says casually, not considering the possibility that Giggles might cause any more trouble for the group than Yargin and his goons did.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Ardino smashes Yargin into the ground, and dashes towards the now open door. Unfortunately there is now a bit of a traffic jam as a number of people try to exact their revenge on Giggles. Out of the three that strike, only Mordin manages to land a blow, though it is a decisive one. It is also now apparent that the door Giggles opened leads to a short, five foot wide hall, and that the door next to it leads to another room.
Giggles starts guffawing at the rage her old charges display, but her eyes narrow as Vestis chants the infernal words of her spell. There is a brief shimmer of magic, and Giggles spits. "Screw off, you devil-loving whore."
Then, Gana Giggles does something she has perhaps never done before in her life. She starts to run from the fight, slamming the door behind her. You all can hear her shouting. "HOOKSHANKS! GET THE LAMBS READY! WE GOT COMPANY!"

That is... not good. Dirkust hopped from the door, weaving through his comrades. He grabbed the door, easing it open, stepping inside to allow the others to proceed. Please, do hurry. I feel we have lost our element of surprise.

Dirkust spoke, softly, loud enough to not carry beyond his comrades. The child on the far right, closest to us. He is no child, merely a Gnome in disguise. I do not believe he requires mercy or restraint in the upcoming scuffle. A chill ran down his spine and he tried to shake it off. That's a new feeling.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
As Giggles runs off and calls out for the children, Mordin looks to the narrow hallway in frustration, realizing that his heavy armor would wear him down during the chase.
Suddenly, a voice resounds inside his head. We must protect the children...we must stop her... they are our responsibility now.
Mordin speaks, hesitantly, as if reading from a script: "We must...protect...the children." Those standing close to him notice that the plated boots of his armor begin to glow softly. In a blur of motion, Mordin suddenly dashes past his allies through the narrow hallway, moving impossibly fast. He attempts to catch up to Giggles and finish what he started.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
With the doorway choked by half a dozen combatants, there's no way Avrin can make it through immediately. But, judging by the sounds of everything going on, the next room happens to have the kids in it, and there seems to be one option his allies have overlooked. Avrin walks slowly to the second door and shouts, addressing the children even if he can't see them. "Hey, kids, we're here to help. Just get out of the way and we'll finish these bastards off!" With any luck, the knight in shining armour rushing ahead of him through the door will help prove the point...

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Seeing how the entire Fishery seemed to be coming down on their heads, Gavin made a somewhat controversial decision.
In the interest of making sure that no one else pulled a Giggles and popped out of a door at them unexpectedly, Gavin threw open the door right next to him.
And, assuming that no immediate danger appeared to be present in the next room, Gavin crossed the room towards any door that looked like it might empty out into that large room Giggles had fled to.
Spoiler: Actions
Move - Open the door to the west of Gavin, and assuming that there are no immediate threats
Standard - Move towards the door leading out to the fish guts tank room, if possible with 30' move
Indicated on the map where I wanted Gavin to move, *if* there's no danger and that room beyond matches up with the grey area.
-If attacked in melee, will use Panache to parry & riposte-
Not going to bother rolling the parry & attack unless it comes up since the last two were a waste.

Lady Selancourte
She took on a soft, calming, motherly voice, something the children probably hadn't heard in a long time.
“You are safe with us, children. Your captors cannot possibly stand up to the knight - “ Sir Mordin had just sprinted into the room at astonishing speed - “and the rest of us. Lay down your knives and stand aside. They will never hurt you again.“

That's turning into a fine mess, Carla thinks. Yet the faster they act, the less chance that rat Lamm would have to escape.Time to play it risky. First thing's first - Giggles. She runs away after her, jumping down and trying to scurry up to head the half-orc off. "Don't think so," she grunts as she tries to overtake the loveless matron. Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Three doors are flung open, Gavin circling around to the right, Ardino and Dirkust opening the way to chase after Giggles. Gavin finds himself in a room empty of other combatants, which contains a third tank with a sluice gate to dump into the larger tank in the next room. There's also a pair of double doors here, on the right wall, and a door which leads into the larger back room.
Mordin and Carla take advantage of the path opened by their companions and burst into the next room, rushing after Giggles. Mordin tries to impale Giggles on his blade, only to have it deflected by the half-orc's flail. She turns, to find Carla has done a leaping backflip to land with cat like grace on the platform behind her. Giggles, turning between her enemies, is about to leap off the balcony to the ground below, when she finds that escape route blocked by what looks to be a long pitchfork, wielded by one of the larger children, who looks to Lady Selancourte. "That one, she's the one Acele was talking about, I bet you a silver! Littles, scatter!"
Encouraged by Lady Selancourte and Avrin, most of the smaller children scamper away, climbing up the poles holding the balcony up, jumping out windows, and diving into the skum tank, to pop up in the room where Gavin is. Several of the larger do as well, but two stay behind, one grabbing a handful of goop from the nearby tank and shoving it into the eyes of the other. "That's for my brother, you lousy git!" The other child screams a very adult sounding scream - the one Dirkust identified as a gnome. He claws at his eyes as the child backs away. Their leader, however, continues to menace Giggles with his pitchfork.
This proves to be a poor choice for the brave lad. Giggles rears back, chortling loudly, and crushes him across the face with her flail. He falls to the ground, unconscious and fast approaching death. Giggles leaps from the balcony to the ground below and makes for the ramp - but in doing so, opens herself to attack from Mordin and Carla.

Dirkust's eyes bulged. His blase attitude towards the whole encounter shattered as the child's face met the flail. Dirkust pushed past the herd of children fleeing and his allies, jumping down from the platform. He scampered to the child's side, lightly touching his welted face. Foolish, brave child. At the point of contact, a small dollop of ectoplasm seeps between the two bodies. The growing welt started to pale, popped blood vessels resealing and pooled blood disappearing. Dirkust winced at the massive headache, his left temple throbbing painfully. Briefly, there is a flash of a bruise on his face, before disappearing.

Mordin nods appreciately as Carla enters the fray on the opposite side. Seeing all the children in the room and their reactions, he decides to avoid speaking too much for the moment - even though he was not directly involved with the Lambs in the past, some of the brighter kids might still recognize his voice from before.
As Giggles tries to escape, Mordin strikes at her again.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Lady Selancourte
Excellent. Just as she had hoped, the children weren't too keen on fighting for Lamm's henchmen once they realized those were hopelessly outclassed and it was in their best interest to turn against them, or at least not stand in their way. She was particularly impressed with the two boys staying behind and attacking Giggles and that gnome.
"You won that bet." Vestis playfully replied to the boy holding a pitchfork, only to wince visibly when he was struck across the face with Giggles' flail. Ah well.
She pushed back her dark red cloak behind her shoulders, in a deliberate, fluid motion, revealing the heavily ornamented gold-coloured breastplate and uniform jacket beneath.
"सावधान, सैनिक!" she whispered again, delicately gesturing towards Giggles. The gnome was out of the fight for the moment, and if she succeded this time, Giggles would be too.
Meanwhile, Vestis frantically scanned the room for Acele - the pitchfork boy had mentioned her, had obviously talked to her, so she hoped she might be amongst the fleeing children.
She managed to flash a smile towards the child who climbed onto the balcony just in front of her.
"You - have you seen Acele?"
Spoiler: Actions:Casting Daze on Giggles again - since I obviously failed last time, she is not immune at the moment.
Also, looking for Acele in the mass of fleeing children:

"Oh, no you don´t," Carla mutters as the damnable orcblood tries to get away from her, and quickly tries to bring her weapon down on the blighter.
((Presuming this does not drop Giggles and everything proceeds as distracted))
She looks down in frustration for a moment before following her old enemy down. Carla winces somewhat at the beating Giggles gives to the brat. Gutsy kid, she thinks, hope he makes it. One more hurt your green ass is going to burn in the hells for, bitch, and you´re gonna be there by sunrise. Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
As Giggles leaps away, both Mordin and Carla lash out at the opening she provides. Carla manages to find purchase, glancing across Giggles' back and electing a grunt of pain from her as she hits the ground running. Seeing the injured boy, Dirkust rushes forward, and all of you can see the wounds the boy suffered slide up his skin and onto Dirkust, before fading away. Ardino and Mordin rush forward, but each miss their respective targets. Gavin closes in from the side and Avrin looses another crossbow bolt. Giggles knocks it away with her flail as Carla comes charging from the side, and solidly strikes Hookshanks across the face. Hookshanks is stunned for a moment, but quickly recovers his senses.
"Cover me! Have to get Gaedren!"
The child Vestis grabbed looks up at the Chelish Lady, and nods slowly. "Yeah. She was working with us for a little bit, but Gaedren took her downstairs a couple days ago. That's where he keeps Gobblegut. Do you really live in a castle of silver?"
The young man Dirkust healed blinks, and starts to sit up. "Thanks, friend. I think-" He falls back to his knees, clutching his head. "Nope. Need a second."
Hookshanks growls, eyes darting between Carla and his half-orc ally, who already disappears down the ramp towards the ship. It looks briefly like he was just going to rip into Carla, but instead he dashes away. He does provide an opening for Carla and Ardino to strike, but succeeds in sliding just out of reach of Mordin before taking position right where the ramp passes under the wall - to get past him to Giggles, he'll have to die first.

Nodding, satisfied (if a bit winded) at the boy's condition, he turned towards the others. Hearing Gaedran's name spoken, Mordin has to restrain himself from rushing recklessly down the ramp. Seeing his allies pushing ahead, Mordin realizes he should ensure that their flank is protected. Like a gift from the heavens, Ardino has thrown Hookshanks right into his reach. Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Carla
Dammit, why does everyone insist on getting in the way, Carla thought as Giggles was running away from her, before turning her attention back to the gnome. In revenge, as in other matters of passion, one should not be hasty and careless, she reminded herself. Sadly, this meant that she had to go through Hookshanks first.
So be it. She pushes the anxiety that Lamm might escape away and lashes at the gnome as he flees, before giving chase.

Lady Selancourte
Gobblegut? "Gobblegut. Who is Gobblegut?" There was a sudden coldness pervading her body and she nigh on forgot about the battle raging down in the hall.Avatar made by lankybugger - Thanks a lot!

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
Avrin, without a clear shot now that Hookshanks is down and Giggles once again fled, shifts his crossbow to his left hand, holding it at the side while leaving his small shield free to block, jumps down from the walkway and draws his sword as he walks towards the prone form of the childlike Gnome. "End of the line, Hookshanks." He says quietly, pointing his blade down at the enemy.
Spoiler: OOC
Sorry about the delay. Switch crossbow to left hand as a Free Action, draw Shortsword as a Move action, move over the be flanking Hookshanks with Ardino and Mordin as a Move Action.
No rolls, but hopefully now I can actually accomplish something in the future.

Re: THEChanger's Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy
"Gobblegut is Gaedren's pet croc." The young man who led the children to fight back slowly clambers up to the balcony, taking the hand of the little boy who Vestis had stopped. Somewhere in the background, a gnome is being turned into paste by three very angry people. "Gaedren spends most of his time down in the apartment below, alone. Sometimes, when one of us Lambs haven't been as cooperative as Yargin would like, or if Gaedren's just feeling bored, they'll send one of us down to play with Gobblegut. There's some scaffolding over the croc's pit, where Gaedren will hang the child, torturing them until they have to let go of the rope, and fall in. Acele went down there two days ago. But I don't think she was brought down to be tortured. A man has been visiting Gaedren over the past couple of days. A Tiefling. He seemed very interested in Acele. I think Gaedren sold her. But she told us you'd be coming. That you'd help us."
Mordin, Ardino, and Carla turn Hookshanks into a nicely buchered corpse lying on the ground, and the child that had thrown muck in the gnome's face grins. "Thanks for that. Bastard murdered my brother a few days ago. Least now he'll get what he deserves. Name's Fadin. I gotta round up the others, make sure they don't get hurt or lost or nothing. Hope I sees you again soon!"
Carla runs down to join Dirkust on the wreck of the ship. Neither of them can see Giggles, but there is only one place she could have gone. Below deck. Out of the corner of her eye, Carla sees a piece of the ship's hull slide to one side, and slide back. A piece that opens out onto the lower walkway. No sign of a half-orc, however.
