Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
Chaotic Good. Absolutely. The Joker is scary as an idea someone made up for a movie, but real suffering is far more likely to be caused by The System, and people who think The System matters more than people do.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
Re-reading the 5e player's handbook short summaries of each alignment: I'm probably actually a chaotic neutral socially. I do border on true neutral and sometimes lawful neutral, closer to good rather than evil, but I actually only help people out if it'll also help me, or if it isn't an inconvenience. I used to put aside everything to help someone out, but I figured out that wasn't a great way to do things, personally. I also find that most rules are a decent baseline to follow, but occasionally veer off of that if I see there won't be a consequence for me and I have a reason to do it.
This probably puts me between chaotic neutral and neutral good though.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
I think my "real life alignment" varies between Lawful Cranky and Chaotic Inebriated.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
Chaotic Good and/or Neutral Good, I usually follow the rules but I'm rather cynical about most established institutions . . . I tend to trust the specific people with direct authority over me, though. And I'm Good-aligned because, well, I care about other people and I hate myself when I think or act selfishly.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
I would like to be lawful good as it is the alignment best suited to constructing a stable, altruistic society. However, I have been so broken down by the corruption and abuse of reality, that I've become far too apathetic to ever actually pursue such an ideal. Thus, I waver between true neutral and chaotic neutral depending on my mood. F*** society.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
I'm pretty neutral. I like to think I'm chaotic, but I am too level headed and have too much fate in systems made up of humans (for instance groups of friends, clubs, contract laws, courts of law, scientific consensus). I'm not above an insincere compliment or breaking a law when nobody's watching, but I also see uses for rules and guidelines. I also like to think I'm slightly on the good side, but I mostly just do my thing. I don't volunteer for a lot of things that don't impact me or people I know, for instance. I don't easily fall for temptations, but that's mostly because one of my stronger vices is laziness. Call it open-minded neutral with a hint of "don't really feel like being evil".

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
I took the test. LG. For me I value G much over L
"Sons of Gondor! Of Rohan! My brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of Men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand! Men of the West!" -Aragorn, Lord of the Rings

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
Philosophically, I'd consider myself NG, but when I take alignment tests, I usually come up as LG or, more often, LN.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
I tend to think that people (as opposed to the personas we adopt in various social circumstances) have more than one alignment. Maybe the shift happens when their backs are against the wall. Maybe it happens when they are immune to retribution. Maybe it just has to do with how their innards are feeling today.
I tend to think of myself as being neutral good, but shift to Lawful Evil when playing a game. Cards, RPGs, or regular board games, they bring out the evil in me.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.I used to think I had this game mostly figured out. Then I made my first post. Cunningham's Law immediately kicked into gear.

Re: What is your approximate Character Alignment, and why?
I think I'm probably true neutral or, being nice to myself, neutral good, in a daily sense.
I'd be willing to dump everything Good in the universe for the ones I love, though, so does that make me evil?Homebrew
Please feel free to PM me any thoughts on my homebrew (or comment in the thread if it's not too old).
