Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: YaraCauliflower-ears looks confused for a moment as your powers reshape his mood and his perception of you. When his eyes clear, he nods, looking slightly dazed as he lowers his knife.
"Yeah..." he says slowly. "Yeah, that makes sense. I'll work for you, miss."
His friends, unaffected by your psychic influence, look at him with incredulity.
"Come on, Jared, that's crazy," one of them whispers. "She look like a witch to you? So she can change her eyes - that don't make her dangerous. And she's good as admitted she's carryin' a fortune."
Jared - as it now seems your new ally is called - shakes his head. "Nah," he answers, growing more confident as his mind accepts the changes you forced upon it. "Nah, it's not worth the risk. She's right - look at the Wyverns. And I ain't seen no one glow like that."
Two of the thugs look uncertain, but the last - the one who has been addressing Jared - shakes his head in exasperation.
"She ain't nothing special," he insists. "An' I'll prove it."
Rushing forward, he attempts to stab his knife into your throat - but it is a clumsy thrust, his every move signposting his intentions to your trained warrior's eyes, and you hardly need to move to avoid it.
Spoiler: TheoAfter a moment's silence, the door opens - a young Templar you do not recognise opening it to you.
Inside the room, around thirty Templars, armed and armoured, stand to attention in three ranks. In front of them, Brother Niall is standing in front of a blackboard. Whatever was on it appears to have been wiped away, and there is chalk on his right sleeve as he stares with naked hostility at you.
Spoiler: Spot DC 15Although a hasty attempt has been made to wipe the blackboard clean, you can still make out a few details. It was some kind of map or diagram; in one corner, you can just make out the letters "f skul", and on another part of the board you can make out the letters "agon".
"Funny," says Niall, "I don't remember inviting you. I must be getting as forgetful as Father Michel.
"You have some reason for interrupting Templar business, Roost?"

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
"Oh I can do a good bit more than glow," Yara says as she steps back from the attack. "You're lucky that I'm still feeling merciful."
She raises a leg in the air and brings it down, sending a shockwave hurtling at her attacker. Once again her eyes glow, this time accompanied by a loud noise.
"If you're still foolish enough to attack, I start frying minds. Then again everyone within a 100 feet just heard what I did. Unless you want to explain yourself to any guard coming to investigate or get seen by witnesses, I'd suggest putting your knives away."
Spoiler: OOC
Five foot step away from hostile.
Manifested stomp as psi-like.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Theo lets Niall's asinine choice of words slide, for the most part. "Your poor taste in humor aside, urgent and discreet matters have made it necessary that I interrupt, I'm afraid."
Theo walks up to Niall and, looking away from the huddled Templars so they cant read lips, whispers to him; "Father Michel has been diagnosed with dementia. It seems important that the Temple organize itself to find a new high priest that can handle all the demanding obligations of leading this temple."
Standing aside but not leaving the room, Theo concludes "I'll let you decide how best to relate this matter to your men."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: YaraIncredibly, your attacker is able to jump at the right moment, avoiding the shock wave and keeping his footing - but he looks less sure of himself at this display of power.
"...That all you've got?" he manages after a moment. Once again he tries to stab you with his knife, aiming now for your face; this time you cannot evade, taken off guard by the failure of your stomp, but the unseen field of force created by your inertial armour stops the blade cold.
The look of shocked horror on the criminal's face is almost comical.
"End this," your demon whispers, seeming to come from just behind your ear. "Tear the boy apart, and let all know the cost of opposing you!"
Spoiler: TheoNiall looks momentarily shocked. He looks out at the sea of faces, watching him expectantly, and lets out a long, slow sigh.
"Ill news indeed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I will not hide from you the seriousness of what I have just been told. It appears Father Michel is to stand down from his current office for health reasons.
"For most of us, his guidance, if not his leadership, has been a constant throughout the years we have served this temple. I am greatly saddened, as I am sure you are, to hear that this has come to an end.
"Yet these are challenging, troubled times for our faith, times of transition and conflict. Strong, capable leadership will be vital to secure the future of our temple, of our very religion. In some ways, if Michel was going to step down at some point, it is best it be now, when our need of a leader in his prime is greatest.
"However, these are not issues for today. The temple leadership must meet, and consider which candidates are suited to this role.
"My Templars, I would ask you to join me in prayer."
Thirty heads are bowed in reverence; Niall ignores you pointedly, spreading his hands palms-up as he looks to the heavens.
"Lady Charis, honoured Sentinel, we give thanks for Father Michel, for his many decades of service and his stalwart guidance of Your faithful. Be with him in this new phase of his life, as he seeks a new path of service away from the role of High Priest.
"We pray also for Your guidance, Charis, as the leaders of Your Temple consider the succession. May they choose a strong, courageous leader, one who commands the loyalty of the priesthood, with the clarity of vision to guide us through the times ahead. And for the one whom You favour, Lady, we pray for strength and power, for the blessings only You can grant.
"These things we pray, Charis, in honour and duty, the better to serve You. So be it."
Many of the Templars are visibly moved, misty eyed or openly weeping. Niall spends a few more seconds in that posture of prayer, then open his eyes and salutes his followers.
"You all know your duties. Let us put aside our grief at this turn of events, and do our duty. Go with Charis, all of you."
There is a general chorus echoing his last words, and the Templars begin to file out. Niall then turns to you, waiting until you are alone before speaking.
"And where do you stand on these issues, Roost? Will you thrust yourself forward for advancement here as well?"Last edited by ilinares; 2017-03-09 at 04:05 PM.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: Inertial Armour?
I almost missed it since in the post when Yara used the telempathic power, inertial armour was a power I was considering and had written a version where that was what she used. However it was never actually used. As such I have split my post into the likely Yara got stabbed and the less likely she had time to use the power before using telempathic projection.
As said I was considering using inertial armour but decided against it as I was trying to conserve power. If the duration of the first post was long enough for two powers to be cast then it would make sense for her to have the armour but it was never actually activated.
Spoiler: Yara got stabbed
"Okay, that's it!" Yara roared, taking a step back only to expand to enormous size. An oddly familiar smell brings up long forgotten memories in those nearby. She had managed to deflect the attack at her face to only connect with a shoulder, turning a lethal blow into a merely dangerous one. The wound ended her friendly act.
The now giant half-giant draws her sickle, psionic energy visible dancing up and down it's crystal blade as she prepares to strike.
"Drop to your knees or perish!"
Spoiler: Has inertial armour
Yara keeps up her pleasant act as the knife harmlessly bounces off her protective field. She raises an arm, preparing a crystal shard that would be lethal if it struck true. Let them know how dangerous she was...
But as she did so, she hesitated. Was this what she should do? The man was a criminal and at least an attempted murderer. If she was to bring law to the city people like him couldn't exist. Yet her demon was also calling for the act, a creature of chaos that she had to be careful how much she let it influence her. It wanted her to prove her power, but hadn't she already? The stomp and stopping the knife, the men around her knew what she could do, especially the boy attacking her. Still, she needed to stop this now. She takes a step away to give him room.
"You're knife can't hurt me. This is my final act of mercy. Drop it now."
She readies herself for her next action. If the criminal attacks again, she stretches out an arm as he charges, sending a weakened crystal shard into his gut. She hoped the wound would be non-lethal but finally stop him.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Knowing that Niall wasnt asking out of curiosity, but was asking a pointed question so he could discover who would be his competition for the role of High Priest, Theo responded with the blunt honesty he used with Ember, but remains diplomatic.
You give a moving speech and prayer, Brother Niall. It is not my desire to seek any role in particular, but I go where Our Lady guides me. If asked, I will serve, but I do not intend on putting my name forward, out of personal ambition or otherwise. I already have much to do that Our Lady commands of me. It is my guess that you will seek to serve as High Priest? If chosen, then I pray that Our Lady blesses you.
Hoping that the answer was satisfactory and would not spur more opposition than Niall had already given Theo, he turns as if to leave, but then pauses. It was not right that Theo keep a matter of importance secret from Niall, especially when he would discover it on his own. One more item of importance. I went to the Palace to inform the Chancellors and the Prince of the events of the night before, and the internal threat posed by our new adversaries. They agreed that this was a matter of domestic security, and wanted to be included on the planning of the opposition to the Cult of Maltur and their allied vampires. The Chancellors and the Prince thus called their own meeting. They summoned Father Michel to represent this church, myself as a member of the Knights of the Soaring Eagle, Mother Martha of the Temple of Berun, and The Arbiter Lothrain of Relath. Both Chancellors and the Prince were present, but I suspect going forward that only Lord Rithelm will be necessarily present for the matter.
Father Michel wanted you, as the Lord Commander of the Templars to comment on military matters, and I agree. I think it important that we act as allies going forward. I would hope that you consent to work alongside with these parties, regardless of who becomes the new High Priest. We had discussed bringing in other members of different faiths, as had been done in my earlier meeting, and we resolved to bring in other temples as needed.
And then Theo baited Niall's curiosity and desire for authority, and gave him more reason to join the group as an equal party. The Arbiter gave me a scroll of Commune to ask Charis a few questions. Among them I had asked if the joinder of the parties gathered with Her Temple pleased her, and she responded positively. If you agree to be a part of this group, and plan our strategies collectively, I would gladly discuss the rest of what we found from the Commune spell.Spoiler

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: YaraSpoiler: OOCI was just going off the character sheet which had Inertial Armour active. Without that, you took the hit, which was for 6 damage.
The knife-wielding mugger steps back apace, his expression horrified. He looks left and right, seeking a way out; but, seeing none - and seeming not to recognise your offer of surrender as an option - he tries once again to fight his way out.
Desperation fuels his slash, and he manages to draw blood from a shallow cut to your sternum.
Spoiler: Slashing damageAnother 6hp.
The other would-be muggers are edging away, seeming to expect a sudden and grizzly end for their former ally.
Spoiler: TheoHearing that you don't mean to put yourself forward seems to calm Niall somewhat. He lets out a long, slow breath, leaning against the wall of the room as he considers your words.
"Charis said that?" he asks, a faint crack showing in his arrogance. "Well. That puts a new spin on things."
He bows his head briefly in thought, or perhaps in prayer. At last, however, he shakes his head, looking resolutely at you.
"Divine magic has its limits, Roost. A spell like commune, perhaps more than most. It is vulnerable to attempts by the enemy to deceive us; to flaws in our own interpretation; and to shortcomings in the way we ask the questions.
"Ultimately, magic is no substitute for the counsel of our own hearts, for studying the doctrine and the teachings of our Goddess and applying them.
"So I will continue to do what I believe Charis is calling me to do. I will make the Templars a strong military force. I will push for a closer alliance with the servants of Valacles, to reflect the alliance between our Goddess and theirs. And I will resist - strenuously - those who idolise Her as She was, as a Goddess of Good, and so fail to serve Her as She is.
"That, really, is my greatest objection to you, Roost. Whatever I might feel about your role as Champion, and the way you have used the romance of that title to steal influence over the clergy, your greatest sin is that you put your cosy delusions of 'good' above everything else. And that is not the way of the Sentinel."
Rising, he makes for the door, then pauses.
"I will respect the authority of the Crown, Roost. If the lawfully appointed Regent commands my aid, I will render it. But I will not tolerate moralistic nonsense that compromises my duty to Charis."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
As Yara awaited a response she began to calm down. She was now a giant with a massive sickle, of course he wouldn't dare attack her.
When he does the rage comes back in force. She raises the sickle and brings it down hard, the psionic energy pulsing to enhance the deadly blow.
Should he not become a corpse, Yara calms down enough from the attack and draws out her sap. "Put your knife down and I will let you live. Don't think that you can possibly threaten me."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Finally, a bit of honesty out of Niall. Blunt honesty. But Theo wanted to tell Niall, Charis said she approves of my path, this is her will, but he bit his tongue. Niall finally let his guard down and was willing to trust Theo with the truth. Now is not the time to push the envelope. And indeed, he must return honesty with another honest word.
I respect your honesty, and I appreciate your position. I hope going forward we can continue working together in the name of Charis, as I did with Father Michel and Brother Obren. And as you agree to work with us, I can inform you of what we learned from the Commune spell; I admit, I asked about you, due to my suspicions of the Priestess Nathalia. Theo then recited, word for word, the questions and responses he got from Charis at the palace.
Because of the revelation of Father Michel's condition, I made sure to come to the Temple before my other duties. As representative of the Knights of the Soaring Eagle, I must go inform them of the current matter as well. If the choosing of the new Temple head comes this evening, please send word to me there, I would greatly enjoy watching this Temple choose a new High Priest. If not, I will return here to pray for my spells and rest my head as always. Good day. And with that, Theo left for the new headquarters for the Knights on Carbunkle Street.Last edited by gallagher; 2017-03-14 at 12:02 AM.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: TheoNiall listens carefully to your account, taking note of the words of Charis. Less hostile than he has been before, he gives you enough grudging respect to hear you out, and concludes with a murmured agreement.
"Whoever is appointed as High Priest, they will need to work with us both," he agrees. "I'll ensure you are present when the matter is discussed - but it will not be tonight. Such an important decision should be made promptly, but not hastily.
"I will invite the other leaders to meet at noon tomorrow, to review what needs to be done. Your presence at that meeting would be acceptable."
If there is nothing else, he takes his leave of you.
Walking out of the door and through the streets, you are preoccupied with thoughts of your destination and purpose - until you see an arresting sight.
It is Yara, expanded to the size of an ogre, towering over a quartet of cowering street thugs. The look of murderous rage on her face is unmistakable. As you watch, she swings her oversized sickle in a powerful, overhand blow, down at a boy hunched over, head in his hands and back to her, clearly terrified. The sickle bites deep, arterial blood fountaining, and the boy collapses to the cobbles.
Spoiler: YaraWith a mighty strike, you swing your sickle down at the brigand. He seems to recognise his death approaching. He tries to turn away, covering his head with his hands, but your blade cleaves into his shoulder, slicing at an angle through collarbone and spine, the cracking bone jarring your arm.
As your assailant collapses, you feel a surge of triumph and satisfaction. Your heart is pounding, the blood rushing through your veins with the excitement of battle. You do not know if the demon is influencing your emotions, but in that moment, you do not care: you have faced an enemy in the primitive, visceral struggle - life or death - and you have prevailed. A certain degree of gladness, even pleasure that you have overcome the threat, is to be expected.
Then you look up, and see Theo standing there, his expression unreadable as he watches you. You do not know how long he has been there - or what he thinks of what he has just witnessed.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Seeing Theo startled Yara, draining the anger from her. She stood silent and worried for long enough for the power to end and for her to shrink back to size. She wondered how to explain it, then realised she still had the mark of justice. She hadn't really liked the idea of getting it but now it's presence was helpful. Theo knew she had the mark and was the one responsible for it, she shouldn't have much trouble.
"Theo! I didn't expect to see you here! I was just heading to see you when these men tried to rob me, I tried to end it peacefully but this one kept on attacking."
She turns to the gangsters quickly to speak before turning back.
"If you stick around I may be able to have your friend brought back. I didn't want to kill him and gave him plenty of chances. I would recommend not trying to leave."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Theo, knowing that Yara couldn't like to him or deal lethal damage outside of lawful means under the Mark, was nonetheless furious. More at the situation than Yara. But still,Yara was under his watch, and this situation looks bad for a felon trying to correct her image and stone for misdeeds
You are coming with me now. You can explain yourself on the way. He grabs Yara by the arm to lead her away. Before leaving, he turns to the ones who allegedly had robbed Yara. Consider yourselves lucky I stepped in, else the hostess would have claimed all of your lives. In all likelihood the guard is already on the way to bring you in. I would recommend you take this time to reconsider our path, and beg the crown for mercy.Spoiler

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Yara knew she couldn't argue with Theo but she didn't want to abandon the work she had done here. She understood why he would be angry, he was taking responsibility for her mistakes. But his meddling was getting annoying, he was fortunate to have so many allies she could use. She didn't know how much she could trust the gangsters but she would need some assistants for what she had planned and Theo wasn't giving her much chance to continue talking.
"Where are we going? This isn't the way back to the temple of Charis," she says. She hopes that at least one of the gangsters hears her and comes to find her. Finding them would be a pain. "Back at the temple I was working on a plan for the upcoming raid. I spoke to Lydia about vanguard assistance and she suggested a locate object spell could locate my psicrystal."
"So how did this mornings meeting go? How many churches have agreed to help?"

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
That is because we are not going to the Temple of Charis. I was just there, and my business there has concluded for the time being. We are going to the new base for the Knights of the Soaring Eagle. We can talk about it when we are among trusted ears.
Theo leads her through the crowd, walking with determination and keeping his eyes peeled. He had no reason to understand who the people who accosted Yara were, but if they were part of an organization he had to remain aware of any person that might be following or watching them. Yara mentions her psicrystal, and Theo responded briefly. He was still quite gruff from finding Yara in lethal combat in the streets, and wanted to get her out of the public as swiftly as possible.
We should keep all discussion of any plans on the forgoing matter out of earshot of those who are not a part of the plans. As for the Temples, this has been elevated to a royally-sanctioned mission, and as such all details will be shared when only those concerned with the matter are present.Spoiler

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
It is clear that Theo will brook no dissent. The two of you make your way swiftly through the city, unmolested by the criminal element - though whether that is because you are no longer alone, because of Theo's resolute and challenging demeanour, or simple chance, you do not know.
It soon becomes apparent that Theo is leading you back to the site of your confrontation with the Black Wyverns... was it only the night before? So much had happened in one short day.
In contrast, the house on Carbuncle Street is largely unchanged. Some of the broken windows have been boarded over; a pair of Knights of the Soaring Eagle, gleaming red armour marking them as Theo's peers, stand watch at the door. There is a sign over their heads, with the emblem of their organisation; and the only other change you can see is that several street lamps have been erected, bathing the front of the building in unaccustomed light.
The two Knights salute Theo, and one says: "Well met, Sergeant. The Lieutenant left orders to bring you straight to her if you arrived. If you would follow me?"
So saying, he guides you through the building, still bloodstained in places and notably empty. He takes you to the maze of rooms where you confronted the flesh golem; at the centre of which, you find Lieutenant Ilyen, contemplating a statue of a many-headed warrior with a sword of ice, her expression disapproving.
Finally spotting you, she smiles wanly, clearly tired.
"Sergeant Roost," she says in welcome. Lady Yara. Well met. What news?"

Yara waits for Theo to give his news, he was the one connected to this place. When he is done she speaks.
"I have been working on gathering information on Vampires and the cult of Maltur. I've found a few possible leads on discovering the cult and also have talked the Vanguard of the Fellowship into aiding with the vampire problem."
"The last time I was here I didn't have time to check this place out. Has anything of interest been found here?" Yara says, looking at the statue.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: Knowledge Religion resultThe statue is of Maltur, the Lord of Boundless War, whose cult you have been researching. Ilyen seems reluctant to interfere with it - quite prudently, as you recall that gods often take very badly to those who damage or defile their altars and icons. Yet its presence here, in what is to be a stronghold of the gods Relath and Charis - sworn enemies of Maltur - must be near impossible to endure.
Ilyen shakes her head. "I believe you already know what was found in the vaults below? Certainly your share has been removed already. Aside from that, and this monstrosity, nothing has really come up.
"We need to rebuild our numbers and recover from last night. Losing many new recruits so swiftly does little good for our recruitment efforts. It will be some time before we can play much of a role as an organisation in fighting the Malturites or the vampires; but as for me personally, my sword is at your disposal for either fight."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
With Charis as his Patroness, Theo had no fear of the statue of Maltur. And what more of the demon-god did he have to fear, if Theo was already publicly shown to be the Champion of Charis? Was he not already a target of Maltur's fury? Theo pulled out his hammer, walked to the statue and bashed it into pieces.
There, now it should be easy to dispose. I propose scattering the fragments like autumnal leaves in the wind. Theo said with the easy confidence of a man whose Goddess walks with him in stride. I do have specific matters of the meeting to discuss with you privately, as it has now become a royal prerogative, and sanctioned by the chancellors. But as for now it is most beneficial for you to focus on recruiting and training more Knights. The people are in need of protection now more than ever. We may call on the Knights soon enough, anyway, and so swelling your numbers should be the immediate priority.
On the recruiting front, I have a question for you; There was a captured Wyvern from last night who fought with us against the vampires and survived. He has been offered the chance to atone, and make amends for his past wrongdoing. I had offered to ask you if he be given the chance to train to one day be a Knight, so that he can serve the people he once harmed. Would you be open to that?
SpoilerUsing Mountain Hammer, which auto overcomes DR and hardness. Also using full power attack because I want to send this statue to whichever hell it belongs.

With a ferocious blow, Theo shatters the statue, sending chips of stone ricocheting through the room.
Immediately, he feels a malevolent presence settling its attention upon him, a hatred that chills his flesh and a rage that presses down upon him like an impossible weight.
Spoiler: OOCWill save please.
Ilyen stares at Theo as at a madman. "Holy Relath," she breathes uneasily. "Sergeant, there's boldness, and then there's plain recklessness!"
After waiting a beat or two to see if you are slain on the spot, she answers your question about the Wyvern. "Right now I'm not turning anyone away who is free of evil's taint. I'm taking your advice, and instituting men at arms to serve alongside and at the direction of the Knights; he can start as one of those, if his heart is pure."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
"So nothing more has been found," Yara says softly, mostly to herself.
She is surprised when Theo strikes apart the statue. Such recklessness was dangerous when it came to the gods, she knew how much care she would need to take to take down Charis and even that was probably far from enough.
The now broken statue was of Maltur, perhaps she could find a use for it. Presuming Theo isn't horribly injured/changed by what he just did, she looks through the scattered fragments, trying to find a surviving piece of some religious importance.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Despite the unholy power pressing down on him, Theo's trust in Charis and in his own strength of will is not misplaced. He feels the iron presence of Charis bolstering him as he resists, and presently the sense of Maltur's malice passes - although he senses the Lord of Boundless War has marked him as a foe indeed, and not merely in principle.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
My Goddess would not tolerate the presence of Maltur, and I doubt yours would either. Be bold, and know our gods walk with us. He says plainly to Ilyen, hoping to bolster her in a time where bravery is most needed.
Theo was not afraid of Maltur, indeed he knew that the two of them were in direct opposition. Feeling the presence of the demon god focus on him before passing made Theo feel... not afraid, and not content, but somewhere in the middle. He was confident that Charis would not abandon him, and strengthen him on his path, but he was also quite wary that he was going against the forces of a god as well.
The former Wyvern, well I cannot say he is pure of heart, his soul is spotted with misdeeds. But his reaction to being told that he could earn forgiveness for his crimes was one of elation. I think we can turn him around yet, and some day he could be as worthy a Knight as any. All I ask for him is a chance. I will send a note to the palace asking for a time for you to meet with him, as you should have the final say over the matter.
Theo saw Yara root through the rubble that was once a shrine to Maltur. Conscious of the fact that Yara still had a demon inside of her, Theo was hesitant to tell Ilyen some necessary details of the meeting he had with the prince. We must get Yara an exorcism, Theo thought to himself, concerned that Charis would demand her execution if she would not seek one. Speaking briefly, Theo mentioned what he could say that would be harmless for the demon to know. I can tell you now that we have confirmed the link between the vampires and the Cult of Maltur. I will be working on deciphering the message you had found tonight as well. If you have a private meeting room for the two of us, I can comment further.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: Skill checksYou recall that, while the gods are by no means omniscient, they are capable of perceiving any shrine devoted to them at will. What is more, the desecration or destruction of a shrine invariably attracts the god's attention - with often dramatic results.
In this instance, the spell you fought off was a bestow curse - as such things go, a fairly minor expression of divine wrath, perhaps suggesting this shrine was of relatively little importance to Maltur.
Nodding, Ilyen leads Theo into a side room, leaving Yara to an ultimately fruitless search of the shrine's remains.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Walking in the side room with Ilyen, Theo tells her what pertinent information she, as the local leader of the Knights, would need to know. That the temples of Berun, Relath and Charis were joined with the Knights to defeat this alliance between Maltur and the clutch of vampires. I was able to ask Charis, and she told me that they were indeed linked together, and that our alliance can bring them down separately. She is quite pleased with this alliance, and the Prince and his Chancellors want to remain involved in the ongoing matter. The crown, however, needs to focus on protecting New Ganthar in the event that Kharheim invades in the coming days.
But that was not all, Theo wasnt sure how to approach the matter of Father Michel's dementia, or if it was appropriate to tell her. But she needed to know. He lets the tone of his voice drop so that if the walls had ears, even they wouldnt hear Theo's next words. One more thing, of which I must swear you to absolute secrecy. Father Michel, the High Priest of the Temple of Charis here... his mind is going with his age. He has been diagnosed with an early stage of dementia, and the Temple will soon seek to replace him. I mention this because, while I am not seeking to replace him, my position as Her Champion has given me the popularity that certain members of the Temple may still put my name forward. If asked, I will serve, and it would no longer be appropriate for me to represent the Knights with our alliance. It would then be necessary that either you, or a trusted officer, replace me.Spoiler

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: TheoIlyen nods slowly, taking it in. "High Priest? she asks, impressed. "Huh. Never figured you for the type to take a desk job. Still, it looks good on Lothrain. Maybe you'll find a way to make it work."
She falls quiet, then adds, "Whoever heard of Maltur working with the undead? That can't be a good sign."
Sighing, she lays a hand on your shoulder. "Whatever comes, Sergeant... Theo... you can count on my support.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Regardless of what happens, I do not intend to be relegated to a desk. Charis has asked more of me. But I am glad for your support, Theo continues. He puts his hand on Ilyen's shoulder and looks her in the eyes to denote his pledge of mutual support and respect. As I currently stand, I am but one sword, or hammer as it sometimes occurs. But the people need to be protected from whatever fallout happens. We have all but uprooted one gang, leaving a vacuum behind that I want the Knights to fill. More violence will soon come. The Knights must be prepared for that. How can I help swell your numbers?
Spoilernot to sideline Yara; once Ilyen responds my business with the Knights will have concluded, and we can bring Yara in to talk about her psicrystalSpoiler

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Spoiler: Theo"That, I do not know. Brother Obren found us volunteers among the Templars, but several of those were killed in action. Even without Niall controlling the Templars, I wouldn't be comfortable asking for more from them.
"I've got the knights out to look for volunteers. Filling the ranks of men at arms shouldn't be too difficult - finding men and women willing to fight for coin isn't so tough - but if you find anyone with the skill and character to serve as knights, or to assist with training, that would assist greatly."

I will do what I can, where I see that I can. Theo says briskly, and then turns to leave to rejoin Yara. Friend, is there any business that you have going forward? I will accompany you until the evening.

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Yara ended her search finding nothing but not really caring. She had just been looking for something to possibly aid manipulating the Maltur cultists.
"Well the business I have today... I need to find what this city uses as a morgue. I need to see the bodies from the cult attack we stopped. Afterwards or during I'm going to need to discuss with you about the factions involved with the upcoming attack on the vampires. And at some point in the near future you will need to use locate object on my psicrystal so we can discover their base. That's all I will need to do for today."

Re: Further Adventures in New Ganthar (IC)
Why would she need to observe the corpses of the slain? Theo wondered to himself. Aside from curiosity, Theo was quite concerned about how close the demon was to Yara's mind, but could not think up a purpose that an autopsy would serve in it's favor.
To the morgue it is, then. As for the planning of the attack, I would be happy to discuss the matter with you... after you have exorcised the demon. I saw it take control of you just last night, causing you to lash out at allies who were members of my temple, and I want to prioritize talking about that. I am greatly concerned about your continued possession, as you have submitted yourself to the lawful judgment of Charis.Spoiler
