How this scene plays out depends a lot on how much of an "expert monster hunter" Coot really is. If he's as eternally clueless as he's made out to be (even his introductory scene has Dr Chuckles putting air quotes around the "monsters" that killed Coot's family, implying it might not actually be the case), I doubt he'd figure anything out, but if he's aware of the existence of succubi, and there's at least a single drop of blood going to his brain, the mention of "sexual" essence, and the Admiral Akbar Honey Trap shirt might be just blatant enough that he gets a clue and this goes a bit south. Of course, his blood is a bit preoccupied traveling to his other head, so who knows.

Also, its likely really, really hard to recognise the perfect thing as it dumps down on your lap. Its something you might be able to figure out afterwards, when there are actually peace to connected the different dots. But unless someone else trapped Coot then this is 100% fool proof.

From the look of things, it also seems to be a drawing of the character, further making it difficult for a non-nerd to identify.

I wonder if he was just brought because he's really hard to kill. Even if the monsters weren't actual monsters, it could have been a dangerous enough accident to prove certain things...Otherwise, why would you ever bring him along?

1) If Maxima was never nice to Sydney, it might be harder to explain their relationship. Clearly Sydney looks up to Maxima, and Maxima seems to enjoy Sydney's companionship...Some of the time. She at least seems to want to whip her into shape and you need positive reinforcement.

2) Need to explain that interrogation room SOMEHOW.

3) Establishes that Sydney is sometimes capable of restraint. Perhaps due to fear of the artifacts, distraction by were-puppies, fear of Maxima or an attempt to earn her respect.

4) It also establishes that the weird fey dude has an attraction (or other interest) to Maxima. Considering her unknown origins, it might be setting up that the fey are behind or aware of her origins.

I think it would be cute if Maxima and Valen eventually went on a date. No deals of the dude being potentially evil like with Deus, no issues of chain of command like with Hiro. I guess being a council leader does create some potential conflict of interest issues, sorta similar to if she was dating a leader of another nation.

He definitely got off on the wrong foot, though. And, based on her preferences so far (namely Hiro), Valen might not be hunky enough for her taste.
Looking back at last Thursday's comic, I can see it actually being that he was checking out her ears and not her other assets. (I'm not completely sure if we're supposed to think that or not.) Funny if so.

He's gone past getting off on the wrong foot and into giving off red flags. The big warning sign here is his rush to absolve himself of responsibility for his actions: "...but it is a difficult impulse to control, and you are so fantastically beautiful..." sounds much more like someone who is going to continue behaving badly and making excuses than someone who is going to engage in self-reflection and self-improvement.

Well i do think Sydney can be partly forgiven for mainly focusing on getting the blood washed off herself. Especially when there actually is a pool nearby.

Honestly i think this makes Gault come off as a even bigger jerk than usual. Archon is already there to assist because they partly messed up in their top secret vault.
Sydney is mainly the driver here, and completely out of her depth. As such she should be off practicing with her balls, not be forced into situations where she can actually land in a pool of blood.
