Strange indeed. It may seem like it's a year since the last update, but it's only been four weeks.

Relevant Rope - This mild enchantment ensures that your rope is always long enough (within reason). It always reaches the other side of the chasm, always extends to the bottom of the cliff, can tie up each of your foes, and is just right for dramatically swinging on.

Haha....so I've been away from the forum for awhile, and Rich's avatar has actually aged. I love the little touches around here.

Every single time Rich disappears for more than a few weeks, the worry wart in me wonders if his will has a clause in it to post a short synopsis of the entire storyline should anything happen to him. Folks like me who have spent over a third of their life engrossed in this story would never get an ending.

Oh and I hope Rich is ok. That too. ;)

    Hope you are OK Rich.

    Please come back soon.

    I think he tweeted recently.

He's posting in the forums, so I'd hazard to say he's around.

He hadn't posted since the 1070 thread at the time though, those posts came later that night.

I think you misunderstood me. When I said "the familiar stock phrases really are the originals, and the putative 'full' versions are rejoinders that were created at a later date," I was referring only to the three stock phrases discussed in this discussion thread. I was not making a statement about all stock phrases found in the modern English language.

That may be the surface meaning, but in actual practice it is used to warn people about the potential dangers of unnecessary investigation or snooping into other people's private affairs. That's the thing about delving into the unknown: you can't be sure how it will turn out. I think it is quite possible to think both that curiosity is good and to be wary of the potential dangers.

And of course, people can debate anything. We don't even have to leave the forums to prove that.
