Inside 65: A Very Busy Intersection

Parade Day

Next is the float for The Olympian, Felandria's arcade/bar/restaurant/family fun complex, the large float has several of the newest games, like Pin On The Knife On The Duck: Retro Edition, several employees dressed in their themed attire distribute coupons, gift certificates, skeeball tickets and the occasional skeeball (they sent us too many) to the crowd.

And floating above the parade right behind the float is what appears at first glance to be a large Felandria shaped balloon, smiling down at everyone, but everyone soon realizes that it is Felandria herself, who is also sprinkling coupons and tickets on the assembled crowd.

Any kids who wanna play any of the games will be cheerfully and safely escorted onto the float to do so.

Syela returns the kiss uncertainly at first, but then totally throws herself into it. Dang, is this what she thinks it is? She wasn't lying when she said that she'd be into this, that's for sure. "Wait wait." She tries to get Jim(?) at arm's length for a second. "What's going on?" And why can't she see anything all of a sudden?

The unmanly Jim responds by trying to pull her closer and kiss her way down Syela's neck, speaking breathily between the kisses, "I think Lenai played a trick on me. The drunker I get, the more girly I feel. Please don't push me away, I can't even see you in this fog anymore and I need to know you're still there." Jim (Jamie?) punctuates the word "girly" with a light, airy giggle.

Jim grins unseen, eyes going wide at the sudden touch. He gives a devilish smile, narrowing his eyes in good-natured suspicion.
"Now how'd you afford such a nice trick as that? Have you been squirreling away your allowance? I know you'd never steal from the cash register!" he asks her, leaning back.

"Birthday money!" One Syela chirps proudly, leaning into his chest and trying to reach around behind him to give his butt a sneaky grab, "That and it's a one use trick, and it doesn't last too long. I think the manual said an hour? So you'd better take advantage of it, mister!" The other admonishes, breathing across his ear and pushing her chest firmly into his shoulder blades.

Parade Day

After going through several EvilSchemes in her head, Decker decides the best place for her to work mischief is from atop the balloon of Trog. She takes out a Golden Apple that is inscribed 'For the Best Parade Entry'. Then she drops it.

Ah, the classics are the best.

Oh, but this apple doesn't land, but extends a pair of wings and darts through the parade like a Golden Snitch, allowing everyone who is part of the parade one chance to read it, before flying away. Once everyone has seen it... well, then it's open season. Anyone can try for it!



Simone kneels next to Clao as she hands her the book. "This is for you. Do you know how to read yet?" she asks gently. She may not know what Clao is, but she recognizes that eagerness to hold a book. She would have reacted that way once upon a time.

Poseidon's Bounty- Nisha & Natalie Chippy Date

Poseidon's Bounty is a small fish and chip shop, located by a canal. It's a wooden building, shaped like an old sailing ship with the counter set into the side, ensuring that this ship will never float. A set of stairs leads up to the roof, where there's chairs and tables so people can sit, eat and watch the world go by. There's a canopy at the front of the shop, covering another seating area for patrons who don't want to go upstairs, or for people to sit if it's raining. It's reasonably popular; there's plenty of empty spaces, but lots of tables are in use, as well. Fortunately, at the moment the queue is quite short, and the girls will be served promptly by the staff. The staff in this particular establishment are three merpeople, with smooth grey skin, legs, blowholes in the back of their necks, and dolphin-like faces.

Natalie smiles, her girlfriend's hand in her own, and goes to the bar. "Can I have a medium cod and chips, please?" The server makes a series of high-pitched clicks and squeaks, relaying the order to the others, who promptly slot another tray of fish into the deep-fat fryer.

The menu is chalked onto the wall; in addition to cod, it serves hake, scampi, plaice, pollack, sausage, battered sausage, chips, Chinese sauce and pickled eggs, pickled onions and gherkins. Drinks include dandelion and burdock (a British fizzy drink), cola and other soft drinks, stored in a fridge.

Natalie smiles at the puppygirl, but reaches out to try and stop Erin from running off. "I think your best bet right now is to come to GLoG with me. Then we can go to Carousel Court and meet all the ponyfolk, when you're all set up with a place to stay and people working to try and send you home, if that's what you want. Because it might take a while to find a bedroom for you, and jumping in at dusk expecting somewhere to sleep is not going to be very polite." Natalie wants what's best for Erin, and doesn't mean to be cruel, and she's smiling and being calm to try and seem reasonable.

Not sure if it'll work, though. Dogs and children both get unreasonable when they're excited.

"I mean, I'm not saying that he's bad-looking, just not my, er, style?" Anika attempts to explain, as she awkwardly rub the back of her head.

Amy is about to reply when Spako, or rather, that strange dragon Wenomir is riding on, calls out her name. "Huh?" The goblin behind the camera is immediately starts waving to her however. "Uh, one moment, Mr. Dragon!" She smiles as her eyes dart back at the camera, and her audience. "Well, folks, it looks like Wenomir himself is coming over here! Does he, or his ride(???) have a comment?" She attempts to hold up her microphone as far up in the air as possible to reach Wenomir and Spako.

Wenomir manages to summon his closest approximation of a pleasant smile. It requires hiding his hostility towards those damn goblins, who make his life's work into trashy entertainment.

"I just want to wish every citizen of Inside a happy parade day. I'm glad to represent Vigil here, with Spako and Anika. Mia and Felandria are here too, but they each represent their own ventures today."

Spako has no problem looking cheery, even with his reptilian expression. The perk of his ear-fins might be familiar to Amy...
"Oh hi Anika, so that's where you wandered off to.
Anyway, it's great to me here, Amy. Inside is a really great city and I hope their new Guard can manage. A good day to everyone here, and your Itikian viewers at home." he says, bobbing his head dutifully.

[Parade Day]

"Not as much wandered off as being jumped on..." The druid mumbles with a glance at Amy who just have eyes for Wenomir and Spako at the moment.
"It is reassuring to see so many VIGIL members here today, I am sure that the citizens of Inside must feel safe now." It looks like Amy is about to say something else, but suddenly a second goblin holding a microphone, and followed by a camera crew, rushes towards the group.
She pushes past Amy and holds her own microphone up towards Wenomir and Spako.
"Excuse me! Mr. Wenomir? Sir? I am Jill Gizmoz from Thunder Networks, Itiki's number one news network, and I have some important questions to ask, like VIGIL's affiliation to the mercenary group, KABAL?" Jill is dressed in a red suit, compared to Amy's black one. She also have a larger film crew behind her. Looks like she is somewhat important.
Amy gives the other goblin a deadly stare. "What do you think you're doing? We're doing an interview here!"
"Shush, this will only take a moment, Amy. People need to know this." Is Jill's only reply.

Anika takes a step backwards, suddenly feeling a deadly tension in the air.

Simone is likely to recognize the nervous stance Clao has ready to run off at a moments notice. She pulls the book to her chest holding it tightly. She nods at Simone's question. "Yes. Thank you." A small slit of a mouth appears on her face as she speaks. A quiet airy whisper hard to hear in the loud environment of the parade. It sounds like she has a hard time speaking.

As the golden apple passes the musical conservatories marching band it flies right in front of Patty's face. She grins that is a challenge she can't pass over. She tags out of her turn dancing in the Aleutian Laser Harp and takes off chasing after it heedless of running into other displays.

A blue beam of light descends from the heavens and materializes into a pair of female figures outside the gates of Delmah Phor. Electra looks at Dena once the light fades, a serious expression on her face.

"How bad do you think this is going to be?"

Iamar sighs as she adjusts the grip on her bag. She still wasn't able to find a place that reminded her of home, but at least there were some books written in her language. She walks down the path, doing her best to avoid anyone else.

Mia reads the note of the apple as it passes her. "There was no note about an apple catch event." she says. SSadly none may hear her due to the music.
She will follow the apple for a bit more. It will be useless to try if you need to fly, she didn prepare any kind of device for that.

Parade Day - Apple Chase

The Golden Snitch Apple is zooming up and down and zig-zagging around, but usually staying near enough to the ground for non-flyers to have a chance to catch it. Sometimes it is as close to a few centimetres off the ground, and other times it is 3 or 4 metres - but these highest leaps are less common. Usually it is no higher than 2 metres, so that humanoid-sized creatures can get it at a leap.

Maybe.

Darn thing is awfully hard to catch!

"That s-sounds reasonable." He agrees, avoiding directly looking at anyone, as usual. "Why not just ca-call GoLG... GG... them on the phone aa-and ask i-if there's a va-vacant room? Tho-though if there's no-n-nothing available, I hh-have a guest b-bedroom in my a-apartment. It's, like, fa-five minutes from h-here."
Only now does Smorre realize that saying this may have sounded unintentionally pedophile, even more so with that nasty stutter of his. He also finishes his gyro and ginger ale.

He wonders if that big crew can really keep pace and film for as long as they'll need.

"Well if you need a good accountant I am reasonable considering my skill.". She brags with a little smile on her face. "Though I am sure you have plenty if accountants."

Clao's eyes widen and brighten to yellow. A whole building with books she can read the thought is a little mind boggling for her. She opens her book up flipping to the last page to confirm the instructions are there. Then she will snap the book back to her chest. "Really?" Her small voice sounding suspicious.

Amy stares at the other goblin as she disappears back into the crowd, swearing under her breath, away from the mircophone. "...sooo... this seems like a sure sign that VIGIL is recovering after the attack. How did you manage such a miraculous recovery from what some considered the brink of the destruction? It must have taken some quite impressive feats of leadership to pull off."

"I wouldn't know anything about that..." Anika remarks, away from the microphone as she is looking at Jill who can still be seen, waiting for Amy to finish.

The Golden Apple Snitch flies in front of Felandria's face, but it's too small for her to read at her size, so she casts Mage Hand to ideally fly right into her hand so she can read it better.

It might be able to wriggle free of her giant hand though.

Commander Mithar and I also lent our own resources. Our flying base, however, was acquired through a feat of daring and skill, since we procured the island from the Hunting Grounds. Let me assure you that Vigil's recovery from the ashes was neither easy, nor painless. But failure or giving up weren't in the cards."

"Doing impossible things isn't just possible for us, it can be necessary. Commander Wenomir is here with us today, we still have a base and a group, and I'm a dragon today because we need to do things that people wouldn't think are possible." the dragon pipes in cheerily.

Sornnolu nods. "I do have plenty of accountants, and I'm sorry to say there would be quite a fuss if I hired a human over an able drow. Though I am lacking in liasons between Delmah Phor and the rest of the city. There's the Intersection troops, but that's about all."

"Amazing, Wenomir helped you turned into a dragon, Spako? No wonder so many have come out in support of you, you've done some impressive work. Our viewers certainly are amazed by what they're hearing. But that of course brings me to what I think everyone wants the answer to, how do you become a member of VIGIL? What qualities did Anika here have to become a member?" She gestures at the kaldorei who was busy picking her nose.
She quickly withdraws her hand. "Er, pretty sure I made a impressive entrance?" Yes, nude and all.

"If they are anything like my clan, guests are actually at less risk than feuding family members. But if he's officially under their protection, he might have a shoot. It's difficult to venture a guess on how much their word is worth though. They seemed to believe it, so we have to assume that there is at least some worth to it. We better talk to Raril soon though, maybe you could pick him up first?" Dena suggests.

"Hmm, probably a good idea." Electra nods. "I'll head back to HQ to get him."

She disappears once more in a blue beam of light.

Mia will stay on the platform. For her it doesn't count if they are the best or not, but as she tells her priests about that one stops sharing flyers and goes after the golden apple. He will have a a hard time at first especially when the giant may got the apple.

"Anyone can apply to become a member of Vigil," Wenomir says. "But before we can swear them in, we need to make sure they've got what it takes to survive in our line of work, and perform our mission. One of our members will test them, depending on what skills they're bringing to the table. Anika here proved she was a capable druid when she arrived in our base, and affirmed our initial evaluation on a mission soon after," he adds. He makes no mention of the circumstances that brought Anika there. This is none of the journalists' business.

"Oh uh, no, the dragon thing was well, a thing between dragons. Rituals and magic research aren't really the Commander's thing." Spako explains to the goblin. He had been hoping for more of a reaction from Any but gen figures she can't emote too much on camera. Have to keep composure.

"That could work. That's actually a better idea, hold on." Natalie finishes off the gyro I'd forgotten about and swings her back round so it's on her lap. After a brief search through her rucksack, she finds her phone and dials in a number. Whose, I'm not sure, because it's been a while. She also actually dials it in; her mobile is quite an old fashioned one, which flips up and doesn't have a touch screen.

And I'm less than certain on how a cross-thread phone call would work.
