Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
While Suzie herself doesn't take any damage from any of the attacks, Buddy Ball's forcefield does take a small amount of damage from the napalm.
Oh, you wanna play it that way? Bring it.
She says this while paying more attention to what the rest of her team is doing, making a mental note to ask Damian for a blood sample before turning back and firing again at the goon who fired the railgun at her.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Slapdash, his scrap mech creaking from the magical jump, doesn't react fast enough to shield his ears from the blast of sound... but he's always been a little tone deaf. The psychic chaff gets little more than a pained grimace as it washes over him.
He moves quickly enough to slip past one jet of napalm, but the second hits him squarely in the chest. The, well, slapdash nature of Slapdash's suit reveals a hidden bonus at this moment; chunks of scrap metal slough off of the suit, eaten away by the nanites and the napalm, but Slapdash himself is relatively unharmed. A bit of the incendiary licks over his shoulder, eliciting a short grunt of pain.
Slapdash looks over the power suits, his mind speeding up slightly as his fickle ability with technology gives him some answers about the mech suits and their combat capabilities. "Okay, everyone, it looks like--"
Slapdash winds down as he realizes that over half the group has already run off to face two of the powered goons. "Um..." Headsets. If we're going to keep doing this, we all need headsets. With a sigh, Slapdash turns to Riordan and Suzie. "I, uh, think the power armor is, um, set at factory levels. Equal focus on attack and defense, so... just hit them hard, I guess? Oh, and I'm picking up...um, something is jamming the radio frequencies, or something. I'm just getting crackles, and the occasional--" he winces, and the tinny sound of something like feedback from a mic plays from the bud at his ear. "Screech. Ow. Any idea what could cause that?"
At that, Slapdash turns to practice what he preached, turning swiftly to the left and throwing a (literally) giant right hook at the goon standing there in an instant. He hears the hum of the limb-suit underneath his scrap and grimaces. Not much time left; I've gotta get everything out of it that I can! His limbs straining with the effort, Slapdash bounces back off of the armored goon on the left and swings right, his fist once more looming at the armored man. In a blur, he is back where he started, panting slightly from the effort.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Unfortunately for the Spring siblings by the time they had caught up with the two armoured goons below ground they had already reached the metal door that lead to the Epsilon Lab. They barely had time to assess the heavy reinforcement that had fell in to place in front of the door when the trio of heroes reached them, the two girls swinging fists imbued with holy light. Amy's blow connected solidly with one of the thugs, rattling him even inside of his suit whilst the other managed to spin out of the way just in time and whilst he hadn't been able to avoid Amy's attack, the armoured goon was a lot faster in dodging Damian's claw. Say what you will about Amy, glowing or otherwise, but she doesn't exactly cut the same threatening figure as a raging shapeshifter!
With Caleb's barrier going up between them and the door, the goons cursed inside their helmets and turned to face their pursuers, venting both their frustration at the rapidly degenerating situation of what was supposed to be a simple smash and grab job and their suits high-powered lasers at the heroes.
"Rekt =D" Buddy Ball's chipper electronic voice chuckled as his forcefield stopped the railgun projectile cold back up in the lobby.
"Playing? This isn't a game little girl, you're out of your league." The thug in the damaged suit of armour threatened Suzie, trying to disguise his nerves as the genius' sonic weapon continued to damage his only weapon. Holding steady his flight pack flared in to life, lifting himself towards the lobby's ceiling and fired off another round from his arm mounted railgun.
Slapdash's assessment of the powersuits might have been fairly accurate but it seemed that they were still more than a match for his more haphazard machine. "Ha! Where'd you find that hunk of garbage? Was the junkyard trying to throw it out?" They taunted as his enormous fist bounced off of their sleek armour "This is how you throw a punch!" Sparks danced down the arm of the suit as it swung a counter punch towards the inventor.
The final armoured goon floats upwards, joining their teammate in the air and getting Riordan in their sights, sure the fey prince hadn't seemed to do much yet but he was still a hero and so that was no reason to take him lightly. Which unfortunately for Riordan was why he would find a projectile hurtling towards him courtesy of the thug's arm-mounted railgun.

Suzie flinches a little as the second shot does a little more damage than the first, but doesn't seem too bothered overall.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Caleb's barrier had done its job well enough, getting the goons to focus on them. This came with certain downsides. Most of the napalm they had been hit with had been shaken off in their flight, but enough was left that it was draining on Trinity's energy to continue absorbing it, and the triplets had to take a couple precious seconds to shake it off. This left an opening for one of them to fire its laser at Caleb, but with angelic speed he dodged just before it fired, only taking a minor burn to his arm - even Trinity's barrier couldn't block energy focused as intensely as a military laser.
His sister was there, though, Amy setting pink-glowing hands on the wound, channeling the power of Love to heal his injury. "You okay?"
"Just fine," Caleb assured her.
"Pah! It'll take more than that to slow us down! Caleb, we'll set 'em up, I have it on good authority Damian can knock them down!" Nadia chimed in with her usual unfailing confidence. The two lunged for the goon who had zapped Caleb, hands shining blue and silver, Caleb's barrier dropping as he ceased maintaining it. This time they didn't try to punch through the powered armor; they focused the power of Faith and Hope directly into the criminal.
Normally, you'd think boosting up an enemy's confidence and self-assurance wouldn't be a particularly helpful contribution to a fight, but too much of a good thing was definitely in play. No armor was without weaknesses, and a big part of proper armor training came with knowing how to move in that armor to keep them from being exposed - a skill that one wouldn't make use of if their faith in their armor's ability to withstand any damage was absolute. It was a weakness that would only be compacted if you were simultaneously made so overconfident that you failed to properly defend yourself.
Then Amy set a hand on Damian, channeling her power a second time to heal one of his injuries, while her siblings reached out to channel their power once more into the other goon, though Caleb summoned up a minor shield as he did so, wary of further laser fire.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Damian's armoured shell and wings might have withstood the napalm well enough, but since he'd been forced to spread his wings out to actually attack, his rather-less protected body was exposed for the lasers. Of course, just because his body wasn't covered in inches-thick armour didn't mean he wasn't still supernaturally resilient, but the laser made him curse in pain - and then curse louder as the nanite-powered napalm saw its opportunity and slimed over his back to spread itself into the new wound.
Despite himself, though, he couldn't help but give a slight chuckle at Nadia's quip, and though he still slightly flinched on instinct when Amy reached out to touch him, as he felt the triplets' power running through him and beginning to heal his wound quicker than his own regeneration could manage, he did spare the time to look back to her with a quiet "Thanks."
When he turned back to the armoured thug that had just blasted Caleb, though, there was no trace of compassion in his eyes. "Okay," he snarled, taking another swipe at the closer thung with his still-enlarged clawed arm. "Now I'm pissed." His arm began to shrink back to its regular proportions, though his torso - and his head especially - began to change further, developing an almost cobra-like hood that splayed out behind him, his skin around his throat momentarily darkening before he spat a lump of purplish sludge at the goon that had shot him, bringing his wings back around to shield himself.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
With a casual motion, Riordan actually catches the goon's railgun projectile in the palm of his hand. He braces his arm a bit, leans into it, but in the end he tosses the projectile in the air with a c*cky smirk. Even the sizzling napalm on his leg and chest don't seem to bother him at all. "If this isn't a game, you guys should take off those suits," he says with a lilting laugh. "Everyone's young to me, but you guys are just kids playing with your widdle toys. Why don't you take a load off?"
He brings his flute back to his lips and begins to play another captivating melody. The three goons present will feel it worm its way into their brains, seeking to ensorcel them and bring them to their knees...with dance!
With a shifting of his innate magic, he casts his mind out to his fellow heroes. ~"Hey, everyone!"~ he "thinks" to the others, and they will be able to see him in their mind's eye in addition to anyone else who participates in the communication. ~"So how're those other two goons treating you, Damian, Springsies?"~

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
The triplets appeared in the mindscape as soon as the link was made. There was a fourth individual standing behind them, though. A handsome man in a three-piece white suit, with deep blue eyes and a flowing mane of white-blond hair. He stood more than half a foot taller than the siblings, with a broad-shouldered, well-muscled build. Wings like theirs sprouted from his back, each feather shining softly with moonlight silver, sky blue, or sunrise pink light in a shimmering display, and a white-bladed broadsword with a golden hilt was strapped to his back between them.
~Hey hey,~ Nadia sent, as cheerily as if they weren't all locked in a fierce battle against a handful of power-armored thieves. ~They're putting on a light show for us. Very fancy. I assume your side of the battle is going predictably? Seriously, attacking Astonishing Industries. Crays be cray.~A role playing game is three things. Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Slapdash winces slightly as more of his mech suit is eaten away, a small number of the nanites once more biting at his skin. The mech-suited goon punches at only a blur, Slapdash sliding out of the way of the clumsy punch and across the room. He stares down at the goon, his eyes suddenly hard and angry, and lifts his left arm up, hand clenched in a grasping motion. Purple light beams out from the left nozzle on Slapdash's left wrist, enveloping the goon, and the person would feel as though huge fingers had suddenly closed around his body. Slapdash lifts up his left arm and whips it around in a throwing motion, hoping to toss the goon across the room and into his fellows.
"Huh?" Slapdash blinks, looking over at Suzie as she speaks to him. "Oh, uh, sure. Here." He pops out the earpiece, holding it out as far as the cord will allow--which, unfortunately, isn't all that far.
Slapdash appears in the mental realm rather small and hunched over, wearing stained mechanic's clothing. Well, this is, um, handy. Not many people can manage to add "ums" and "uhs" to mental communications, but Slapdash is not most people. The suits seem to be, uh, factory-issue, and pretty good, too. No real focus on defense or... um, agility, or anything like that.
Spoiler: OOCFree Action: Switch to Long-Range Tactile Beam.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
It seems that the confidence of the armoured thugs in the lobby may have not been as well placed as they thought. Already damaged by Suzie's sonic device, one of the suits just couldn't take another hit, more red warnings in alien script flashed up on the inside of his helmet as the whole thing started to shake violently. Sparks flew and smoke seeped from the joints until the whole thing just crumbled apart sending the wearer dropping to the floor with a thud.
The thug that badmouthed Slapdash's armour was really starting to have second thoughts about his comments as the purple light enveloped him and SQUEEZED, buckling the alien metal that composed it like it was nothing, when Slapdash let go the suit fell backwards, unable to stand up under its own power anymore and its wearer thoroughly unconscious.
And if that wasn't enough the two goons still standing started dancing!
Outside the Epsilon lab the would be robbers weren't fairing any better, Nadia and Caleb's power flooded through one of the thugs and gave him such unwavering confidence in the strength of their armour that they met Damien's claws with their hands on their hips and chest thrust out like some invulnerable hero.
This confidence was misplaced.
Not even trying to defend themselves the shapeshifter's claw shredded the armour like it was was paper, cutting through the life support and flight systems and sending the thug to the ground, slumping against the wall. Watching all this happen the other goon barely noticed Damian's sludge slide of the armour's face plate as several options ran through their head. They could run for it but then they'd still have to fight their way passed the people in the lobby (and with that weird crap flooding their comms they had no way of knowing how that fight was going) and the Cray's did not have the best temper, they could try and bust in to the lab and grab what they came for but that would mean turning their back on the heroes in front of them...In a panic raised an arm and flooded the corridor with sticky burning napalm, the nanites inside ensuring that the deadly substance didn't go anywhere near the downed thug.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
"Hah! And what, son? That there is what we in the business call teamwork! Learn to love it!" Nadia boasted gleefully, getting right up in the other goon's face.
Which, you know, kinda meant she was in point-blank range when he sprayed napalm all over the room. And it wasn't like the nanite-guided napalm was gonna just not take advantage of that. I mean, you don't build your napalm out of nanites so that they won't swarm all over the enemy that has managed to stand right in front of your napalm blaster. That's just common sense.
Caleb, naturally, hurled himself forward to try to knock his sister out of the path of the blast, but he was about a half-second too slow. So instead of knocking her out of the way, it only meant that he was also in a perfect position to get absolutely covered in napalm. Even Trinity's barrier and the minor shield Caleb had raised could only do so much against that. It held off the worst of it, but some got through, searing both of them.
Although it was Amy who cried out in response, both from her siblings' pain flooding through their mental link and her own fear for them as the wave of napalm covered them. Caleb just gritted his teeth and grunted, and Nadia's reply was an affronted-sounding, "Little punk!"
Spoiler: Sibling telepathy. Spoilered for cleanliness, not secrecy.~Seriously, Nadia, you literally just demonstrated how overconfidence in battle is bad. It is your entire powerset!~
~Hey, it usually works better for me! Besides, we're still standing, that guy isn't. So, you know,
advantage: us!~
~A-are you guys okay?~
~Please, we could take ten of those.~
~...Sure. Provided Amy heals us immediately after each one.~
~I mean, it's Amy. I figure that's pretty much a given.~
As Caleb and Nadia tried to shake off the clinging nanite napalm, Amy threw her arms around them, drawing upon their power to fuel her own, and channeling the full force of her love for them into her divine magic. A wave of pink light flooded through them, not just healing their immediate injuries, but remaining within them to combat any further damage the napalm might inflict.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Damian appeared in Riordan's mental link looking much as he did normally...apart from the small the fact that he was accompanied by a much larger, more bestial-looking version of himself that Nadia and Riordan, at the very least, would immediately recognise from three years ago. This 'second self' was bound tightly with heavy chains that led off into the edge of the mindscape and faded away, and Damian's mental image glanced up at it slightly, with an almost embarrassed expression. Other than that, his mental image didn't react to the banter or the events going on in real life - at least until his claws ripped through the armour of the goon, at which point his mental self winced (which probably didn't make much sense to anyone except for Trinity, who could actually see what had just happened. Damn, he reflected. I'm gonna have to be careful with them around.
When the napalm hit, Damian hadn't quite recovered from the surprise of watching the thug all but throwing himself onto his claw, and took the brunt of it on his chest, snarling in pain and wiping it off his face with his free hand. In the mindscape, the chained monster let out an inaudible roar and strained against its chains in apparent response to the pain (or possibly to seeing the triplets faltering. One or the other.)
"Hey, -------," he called out, stretching out his wings and gliding over to the one conscious goon, landing between the triplets and the thug. This time when he raised his hand it split into three tendrils at the elbow, which he lashed out at the armoured man with. "How about you don't burn the only people here who are likely to stop your buddy over there bleeding out? 'Cos I sure as hell can't."
Spoiler: OOCMove: Into close range of the goon.

End of Turn: Goon #3 gets a DC25 (after auto-crit) Toughness save vs Damage, and a DC25...er, Will, though it should actually be Fort and apparently I wrote it wrong...save vs Impaired/Disabled from the Secondary Effect of Rend.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
"And boom! Amy rocking the full heal!" Nadia extolled, and if you thought the close call might have dampened her confidence in even the least little bit, you just didn't know Nadia. "Are we clear here, little buddy? Are you starting to see the situation for what it is? Four against one, and we have a healer
and a regenerator! Now, of course, as an Angel of Hope, I would never want to discourage you from continuing to fight on in stalwart defiance of the painfully obvious odds. I'm just pointing out that if you do do that, then technically, it only makes me that much stronger!"
Spoiler: Sibling telepathy~So...we're not learning our lessons today?~

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Slapdash flexes the fingers of his left hand, bemused. That worked... better than I thought it would. He turns his attention to the undamaged guard, blinking as he saw his... attempt at dancing. "Well, that's, um... different." The other nozzle on his arm begins to glow, disgorging several balls of glowing purple-white light. The balls fly randomly around the room before converging on the dancing fool, each one detonating with a small explosion on contact.
Inside the mental realm, projection-Slapdash fidgets with his mechanic's clothing. No matter what he does, it doesn't seem to fit right. So, the static or, uh, whatever it is... it's not just random noise. It has a repeating... it repeats, like it's deliberately sending something, he reports, stifling the familiar frustration he feels about not being able to explain mechanical things well. Suzie, maybe you'll have, um,
a better idea once you hear it.

Booyah! Told you! Who's outta who's league?
Suzie taunts the dancing goon for a moment more before hoverboarding over to slapdash for the earpiece.

Riordan smirks at the fruits of his efforts. Always fun to see dancing, regardless of its terrible execution. In the mindscape, his form is as he normally looks...at least, vaguely. The specifics are constantly changing from second to second, almost like his body doesn't like how it looks and moves on to another choice. ~"Man, these guys are morons, incompetents; incompetent morons!"~ he thinks to the others, his mental voice melodic. He plays out a little diddy on his flute to make his silver tongue even more silvered.
Out loud, he says to the mook that had not been attacked, "Just to let you know, one of your two pals that flew down just got ganked by Mr Tall Winged and Angry, and you're down another guy up here. Plus, you're sorta preoccupied right now, plus your armor just got shot to hell. And I'm feeling generous, so: how about you guy stand down, and tell us who put you up to this? I'll put in a good word for ya when they bring you in, scout's honor." Riordan had been a scout, in the past--an army scout, for a legion of warriors a millennium ago, but a scout nonetheless!

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Even working together the meaning of the noises being picked up by Slapdash's earpiece continued to elude the two geniuses (genii?), though it doesn't really matter as the two thugs still standing seem far more interested in their impromptu dance off then in presenting any form of meaningful resistance. Though the erratic movements of their artless dancing does make them that much harder to hit as proven when the last armoured goon standing manages to Robot around Slapdash's glowing projectiles.
"Screw you!" The armourless goon yells defiantly at Riordan's offer even as he continues to break it down "Do I look like a snitch?"
Spoiler: RiordanThe confidence you saw in them earlier? Completely shot. But they're still more afraid of their boss then they are of going to jail.
In the underground corridors of Astonishing Industries the thugs were fairing little better with a single power suited goon facing down a trio of angels and a fearsome regenerator whilst their back-up lay unconscious on the ground, their armour shredded. Like their teammates above ground they were far more afraid of any retribution their employer might deliver than what they might face at the hands of heroes, heroes had rules after all. So what were they to do but fight on?
The hum of a charging rail gun was just audible over the earth shaking sounds coming from the Epsilon lab "How about you shut up and die?!" they yell at the shapeshifter, firing the deadly weapon on their wrist at Damian.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Damian dodged out of the way of the railgun blast, though in doing so reopened his old wounds for the nanite napalm to seep into once again. "Ugh," he muttered aloud, wincing as he suppressed the urge to waste his time trying to push the napalm off himself and lashing out with his tendril-arm again. ~Man, these guys are persistent. The Crays normally scare their mooks this much?~

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
It took a couple seconds to shake the rest of the napalm off, but with Amy's healing power flowing through them, it didn't cause much in the way of appreciable harm.
~I'm not sure of the Crays' internal disciplinary policy, but-~
~Is that what we're calling it?~
~But it's probably a safe bet that whatever it involves, it's considered a greater threat than what a group of upstanding superheroes will do to them.~
~In theory, maybe. But it seems to me that the poor, helpless mooks never quite factor the humiliation into the equation.~
~Uh, I don't know about the noises. Suzie, Slapdash, any ideas? It sounds like RUMBLERUMBLERUMBLE!~
~...More or less, anyway.~
~I think it's a pretty accurate description.~
~I mean, for what we're working with, sure.~
"Really, man? 'Shut up and die'? I mean, the 'die' bit is just a silly suggestion, since it's like,
duh, we're winning. And as for the 'shut up' part, it's like, your pithy retort was literally 'shut up and die'. We can probably call the battle of wits in our favor too, is what I'm saying."
While Nadia worked to taunt the guy into an aggressive rage, Caleb conjured up a blade of silvery light, swinging it hard at the armored goon, the weapon striking not only for the goon's body, but also at his mind. Amy held back, channeling her power once more in her preferred way. Damian would feel a gentle sense of love enfold him once again as her soft pink light caused some of his burns to vanish as if they had never been.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Slapdash's head snaps towards Suzie in the mental realm, and for a moment his projection is utterly still. Alien... tech?
In the physical world, Slapdash is looking speculatively at the goon he crushed earlier, while even more purplish-white projectiles burst from the nozzle on his left arm and go zipping around the room. Behind the goon in power armor, the projectiles that miss coalesce into a cloud of explosive potential, arrowing silently for his unsuspecting back.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Riordan shakes his head with a taunting "tut-tut". "There are worse fates than being called a 'snitch', you infants," he says, and his body ripples. His form becomes more monstrous and terrifying, ever-changing and never fully comprehensible...but always inhuman. "Back in my day, trespassing like this would be grounds for severe punishment. And you've trespassed upon my friend's domain. I hope you don't think you can get away unscathed if you continue to fight. What'll it be, boy?"
He directs this last question to the still-armored goon as his form returns to "normal". He brings his flute up to his lips and readies himself to cut off any further attacks from the boy.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
"That should be feasible Ms Su..." The rest of Holly's response was cut off as Suzie's hoverboard carried her through the suddenly appearing hologram in front of her, Holly's avatar just sighed and shook her head before vanishing again.
Nadia might be starting to regret encouraging the thug to fight on against the odds (though I doubt it) as they manage to weave around Damian's tendril attack and Caleb's glowing sword even in the confines, in fact it's only with Suzie's sudden appearance that they're caught off guard allowing the inventor's sonic weapon to hit home. With the noise coming from the Epsilon lab the sound of the armour violently humming with sympathetic vibrations was almost impossible to hear though the armour visible shook until the suit vented the excess energy through its back in to the wall.
"Ha! I'm invincible! What else you got?!" The thug crowed swinging a fist charged with crackling electricity right at Nadia, hoping that several thousands volts would silence her aggravating banter (again, doubtful)
Confidence was not running so high back in the lobby, with one of the goons still furiously breaking it down and the other taking an armour denting beating from Slapdash's combination attack, Riordan's threats and bizzare inhuman appearance was enough to convince the remaining armoured thug that maybe standing and fighting was not the best idea. Turning in midair the criminal kicks their flightpack in to life and rockets back through the shattered glass doors they originally came through.
"Get back here you coward! Don't leave me here!" The other thug yells impotently at his quickly vanishing teammate "You're dead! The boss is gonna find you and you're dead!"

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
As predicted, Nadia's response to the goon tanking it all was less "frustrated concern" and more "eager excitement", her eyes dancing as a broad grin widened across her expressive features. "Well look at you! Rock on little du-u-u-u-" her words were interrupted as the blast of electricity rushed through her, sending spasms rolling through her body. Beside her, Caleb and Amy started spasming as well, as if the electrical energy shot straight through their sister's nerves and into their own. The mystical connection between them had its flaws.
But it had its advantages as well. Divided among the three of them, the electrical energy was far less significant than it otherwise might have been. It may have limited them, but it didn't completely prevent them from acting. Caleb and Amy rushed to their sister's defense, charging their fists with divine power and raining blow after blow on him - Caleb in particular glaring at the goon with a fierce protectiveness in his eyes. Nadia's "attack" was almost more of an encouraging punch to the arm, though, with no real force behind it. "Hah! He a-a-a-actually said that! Yeah, man, totally invincible! For s-s-sure!" Her power would do its work, trying to heighten his confidence to cause him to forego defense, but even if it couldn't overcome his will directly, it would still inflame the emotions he was naturally feeling, which might still do the job given a bit of time.
SpoilerMove: Dazed.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
"This is getting ridiculous," Damian muttered irritably, as the last of the burns the napalm had inflicted closed. He paused for a moment, giving a rather puzzled look, when Caleb and Amy started shuddering as well after Nadia had been hit by the electricity. ~So, wait, you guys feel everything any of you feels? Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Slapdash snaps out of his contemplation of the alien tech as one of the goons jets back out the window. The suit! Um, I mean, we probably shouldn't let one of them just, uh, leave, right? He sends over the mental link. Riordan, Suzie, if you guys can keep an eye on wannabe-Swayze here, I can catch that guy.
With a roar of jets, Slapdash is gone, his fragile-looking wings carrying him down the street after the running goon. All right, jet two's bending the metal, and three through five are about to get tangled, readjust--now one's about to bend everything-- Part of his mind occupied with holding his jets in place, he aims his massive fist at the goon's back, using his flying momentum to lean into the strike and hopefully knock the goon into a stumble. Moments later, Slapdash is in front of the goon, right fist stretched back to strike again. "Hey."

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
~Eh, not really,~ Nadia sent back, even as her siblings responded with a mutual, ~Yep.~
~To be precise, it's not strictly everything they feel.~ the angel in the mindspace said in a ringing baritone. ~By default, I perceive anything any of them perceive, and they all...well, not so much perceive as experience anything I perceive. So in the general course, they essentially share their senses between them.~
~Less confusing than you'd think. Once you get used to it, anyway. Those first couple of days though...~
~It is, however, not uncontrollable. They can elect not to share certain perceptions with me, although this does require a certain amount of concentration on their part, making it unreliable when exposed to particularly intense sensations. I also have a certain amount of control over how I pass the sensation to the other two - letting them perceive it fully, or experience it more as a strong memory than an immediate sensation, or even more "dividing" the sensation among all of them. With, again, the intensity of the sensation being a factor. Since direct attacks to tend to be on the high end of intensity, though, they do generally all end up feeling the effects of attacks against any of them, to greater or lesser degrees.~
~Which is, just, super-fun,~ Caleb added sarcastically. ~Nadia.~
~Um...guys? Is now, like, really the time to be going into a detailed description of how our powers work?~
In the mindscape, Trinity shrugged. ~Riordan's telepathic link is, if I recall, roughly a hundred times faster than normal speech. I don't expect it amounts to a meaningful distraction.~A role playing game is three things. It is an interactive story, a game of chance, and a process in critical thinking.

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
Riordan "sees" Slapdash fly off in his mind's eye, and his mouth curves in a thin smile. Gilliam's got this, for sure. Of course, the goon's not gonna be able to fly once he's knocked out, but Riordan's got a plan for that.
~"Not that this isn't a fascinating convo (no, it really is, fer realz), the mental link's gonna be offline for a bit, guys. Don't get rekt while I'm gone. ...That's how the kids talk these days, right?"~
He brings his flute to his lips and gives a few notes. He can feel his magic expand in response to the sound. Without a sound he disappears from sight in front of the armor-less goon, to reappear in the air beside Slapdash and the unconscious goon. "The Riordan Express, at your service," he says with a jaunty grin, grabbing hold of Slapdash and the goon before disappearing once more.
They reappear below, in the room in front of Lab Epsilon. Riordan lays the goon on the ground while keeping his hand on Gilliam. "I'm borrowing Slapdash and Suzie, kiddos! I'll come pick y'all up when you finish your plate," he says to Trinity and Genesis. He disappears, reappears beside Suzie, and places a hand on her shoulder. They disappear once more, and they all reappear on the other side of the door, in the room where the loud sounds are happening.
SpoilerFree action: Swap to Dimension Step, Supernatural Enhancement.
Move action: Supernatural Enhancement on Riordan:
18 points for 6 more ranks of Accurate Teleport
1 point for Change Direction on Teleport
1 point for Change Velocity
Standard action: Multi-teleport: With Rank 12 Teleport, I should be able to get to Slapdash and the goon (Rank 10), teleport back (which would only be Rank 11 movement since ranks are doubled each time) and then to the underground beside Epsilon Lab, grab Suzie, then teleport past the doors. My Teleport counts as movement for the purposes of actions, so the multi-port should be feasible.

It was worth noting, that throughout the telepathic discussion, Caleb and Amy kinda hadn't stopped beating on the remaining goon. And once Damian had him in his grasp, well...let's just say, just because they felt her pain too didn't make it any less of a bad idea to hurt their sister!

Re: Defenders of Tomorrow IC
As the fey and the two inventors appear on the other side of a metal door, something doesn't seem quite right about the room that they find themselves in but that thought is quickly swept away by the enormous sphere that dominates the center of the room, almost too big for room its black metal case brushing up against the rooms high ceilings and walkways.
At the center of the machine sits a single red glowing eye that surveys the trio's appearance in front of it whilst glassy-eyed technicians with heavy equipment scurry away from it back through the doors that dot the room leading to smaller labs and offices, their work clearly done and the loud rumbling sounds that they all heard when they entered the building ceasing.
