Suga sniffs the air and looks toward the end of the hall. "This door now, or check the other door and statue first?" He didn't like the idea of enemies coming from both directions at once. At least it seemed a low chance for enemies coming from behind too.

Feagon ponders for a moment, thinking. "Quietly check the door and statue... maybe wedge the door if we can so we don't get any surprises?"

Tarak

The hobgoblin takes a long time before turning and motioning to the others to remain quiet, the hobgoblin approaches the second door, checks it silently for traps then examines the handle and lock if, indeed, it has a lock.

Celesta just waits, standing still. She was fine hunting in the wild, but stalking dwarves underground was not her specialty, so she chose to leave the scouting for these people.

Sorry about the delay; this is a busy week for me, and it isn't over yet.

The door isn't trapped or locked as far as Tarak can tell; he does hear movement on the other side.

Taraks nods letting the rest know he hears something behind the second door. Suga motions for the others to quietly follow him up to Tarak. Once all are in position he nods to Tarak to open the door, leaving at least himself in front.

Feagon silently acknowledges Tarak's communication as he moves with silent footfalls behind him, waiting to see what lies on the other side.

Grinning, Celesta moves forward to stand in the front row, ready to charge.

With everyone ready, Tarak opens the door and stays clear for the others to get through.

As Tarak steps north of the door, he hears a click from under his feet and the statue opens its mouth. A cloud of green gas comes billowing out.

Spluttering as silently as possible and flailing his arms wildly to clear away the gas, "What the....? I never even considered to look back here. Devious bastards!"

Back to the land of the living; weak as a baby and sleepy all of the time. I was in a bad way, blood-oxygen levels down to critical, but bouncing back and home again. Note to self - when you get pneumonia it's okay to take a couple of days off of work, stop, and rest. *smiles sheepishly*

"What the-!" Celesta instinctively jumps back and lifts her spear, but soon lowers it again when there's no enemy to strike. "Damn, whole place is full of traps!"

Feagon stands stock still, surprised by the sudden blast of gas. He recovers a moment after everyone else, and then rushes forward. "Are you ok?" Once they nod yes, he breathes out, a bit louder than he would have liked in hindsight. "Aye, Celesta, that is true. Let us hope the reward is greater than the risk."

Tarak

As the gas slowly dissipates, the hobgoblin unhooks his kamas from his belt and nods to the adjacent doors.

"Ready? Same as before...heavy hitters first, Feagon and I will come in behind you."

Suga or Celesta can open the door(s) on their turn, I'm ready to go.

The grin returns to Celesta's face. "Sure thing." She moves to the front, ready to charge when the door is opened.

Suga thought Tarak would open the door but regardless the orc opened the door and readied to attack.

On the other side of the door is a bunkroom. A dozen short beds line the walls of this spartan chamber. Any further inspection is interrupted by the chain-shirt wearing dwarf who lunges at Suga with a greataxe.

Feagon reaches out and touches Suga on the shoulder while making a blessing to Ehlonna. "Get him. I'll deal with the wounds momentarily." he says calmly.

Casting Bull's Strength on Suga.

The dwarf gets a solid slash on Suga as he was opening the door. Suga growls, sizing him up. The growl changes some as Feagon enhances the orc's strength with magic. "Your turn!" The dire axe slashes at an angle to hit up and under the dwarf's chain shirt. "Two more in the back." He itched to move onwards to make room for the others but knew some healing would help. That dwarf seemed to have skills with that blade.

With a perfectly fine enemy in front of her, Celesta brings her spear forth to attack.

Celesta runs the dwarf through with a powerful thrust. His mouth opens and he collapses on the floor.

One of the dwarves behind him raises her bow, sees him fall, and, blinking, drops the bow and grabs her waraxe as she runs forward. Grack chuckles. The other dwarf turns and runs, brushing past Tarak.

Tarak

Seeing his plans shattered as the dwarfs head in opposite direction, Tarak quietly stows his spell components away and slashes at the dwarf that moves past him.

Tarak blinks into existence and cuts down the dwarf attempting to run past him. The dwarf never knows what hit him.

The hobgoblin looks down at his blade, then the fallen dwarf, "I'll be da....."

Realizing that the battle isn't finished, he turns on his heal and charges toward the dwarf blocking the doorway.
