I’ve no idea who she is either, but I hope she comes bearing exposition from AnniePrime and the forest.

Kinda disappointing that it's all a dreamworld, and not a physical scene that can be fit together.

I think that last chapter was my least favorite of all of them. It just dragged on so long and ultimately was about 95% ethereal fluff. I'm bad at interpretations and 'meaning' - did I miss anything of value in that chapter? Was there some purpose that I don't see?

They introduced a new character, found the goose wishbone or whatever it is, and determined that they have to go back and talk to Loup. That's about it, other than a little highlighting of Annie's insecurities. It was not a long chapter, yet still felt padded with fluff and visuals.

Makes a vague degree of sense, since he created Court Annie as a distraction so he could talk with Forest Annie.
Man this thing was full of outdated stuff.

So his endgame will be to send court Annie back and (try to) keep forest Annie with him forever and ever, right?

I'm not so sure about that. Given that neither of our Annies is supposed to be in this timeline, I think it's entirely plausible that the original Annie of this timeline is just still there with him. Why would he need another?

I'd make a pun on recent events and say:

    Gunnerkrigg Court 8: Coyote.

If your webcomic title doesn't contain an implied rimshot, you're doing it wrong.

Throwing my support behind this one as well.

My guess is that the goose bone contained the power he needed to re-emerge from Loup and the lake water contained his memory of what was in the goose bone.

Or the memory of a dream of an image of a tooth, which may or may not be The Tooth (or perhaps the Platonic Ideal of the The Tooth).

Something doesn't line up here. Loup believes that the reason he can't control the forest is because Coyote hid that in an object he gave away. It wasn't in the goose bone. The lake water apparently just has another memory in it. The only other thing we know Coyote gave away is the tooth, but if the bone has the memory of the tooth... the tooth can't have the power of divine forestry in it, because it was given away long before control was lost. It can't have the memory of where the forestry went, for the same reason.

Hm. Though the same would seem to apply to both the bone and the water, now I think about it.

Possible that that Forest control ability isn't some modular skillset locked away in a sequestered memory. Could this whole thing be a giant 'you try doing my job for a while and see how easy it is?' lesson?

    It's pronounced "lou", not "loop".

I'd suggest "J'entend le Loup, le Renard et le Coyote" but you'd have to be familiar with French Celtic rock to get it.

Ysengrin is paranoid that Coyote is hiding things from him. Which is fair, because Coyote is hiding things from him. Agreeing here, tho - 'Controlling the forest' isn't some discrete power or trick that Coyote can give, not in the way he shared body-hopping with Reynard. It's just Coyote being very practiced with his power. Loup has the power but not the practice, and can't or won't understand that power alone is not going to solve all his problems or let him do whatever he wants. Which makes it quite likely that this whole thing is intended to be a teachable moment for Ysengrin, considering that "if I was only strong enough!" is a major part of his characterization.

Loup: Then I'll just get rid of Ysengrin! (excises him from himself)

Loup: Yes, that's BETTER! Now I'll urgle augghh eeggg POP!

Coyote, rising out of the wreckage: Yes, that went as I expected.
