Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
I was already at the point of feeling a good bit of fatigue at the constant twists and turns in Erfworld, no comment on how many of good quality and how many were distracting wastes. It's going to be REALLY hard to maintain any sense of enthusiasm trying to go back in after a month and a half.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
Is that all? I thought it ended July or June sometime. I thought I remembered it was supposed to be down for six weeks and then start up at the start of September (so not June), but then it hasn't started yet. It's not alone, there are some other hiatii (Code name Hunter, lately Slightly Damned, Poppy Opposum).
Just checked, last published comic dated 2017.7.4, so that's 2.5 moths. The end of what Son? The story? There is no end. There's just the point where the storytellers stop talking.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
At this point I probably won't even bother going back to it when it comes back. At least not until this thread inevitably catches my attention again. I swear I would have quit this comic a dozen times already if it wasn't for the conversations in this thread.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
Voof. I gotta say, I was always debating with myself if I should drop this comic, but force of habit always kept bringing me back. Guess Rob's cured me of that now.

I guess it won't be a surprise that I feel the same.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
I still enjoy ErfWorld for what its worth, mostly now I like it better when I can read a few pages rather than one at a time. I'm mostly unhappy at the pacing, which seems to somehow be too slow but too fast. The comics used to be the action and story, and the text was more supportive. These days it seems like the text carries more, and the comic...sometimes does. Or sometimes the transition is more jarring because something is implied and never depicted. Its a strange creative choice to be sure. Eventually, the multiple perspective issue just kinda accentuates the problems, rather than give breadth to the comic, which is a shame. It's falling into the Robert Jordan problem - all the base characters are now all over the place with other characters so now we learn about more characters and have less time to follow the base ones. Long story short, I think there's quite a potential, it's just gotten unwieldy for Rob's talents, which are better served and a less complex / centered plot.

Oookay, so... fertility statues are now a thing at Charlescom. Good to know?
Well the art still seems to be on the mark.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
Is that a Jed-type statue in Charlescomm?
Ok, what's the next joke after Jed-eye?
We have a super rich character in the Jed tradition.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
New Update
Spoiler
Interesting, the ComTree seems to be going for tough love with Charlie, but making him go Cold Turkey might get him out of the game for ages in comic.
I'm wondering if Jed/ComTree are made sentient only by a link to their respective thinkamancers, like the OZ dolls from Book 0. Once Isaac/Big Think dies, ComTree might revert as well.
She is also in contact with the Arkendish though, so that might enable switching her link to it/Charlie.
I wonder if the "brain" of Jed/ComTree is inside the portal pillars, or if it is just the power source. If Jed knew the portal column was his brain though he wouldn't be so keen to meddle with it.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
SpoilerI think that Charlie more or less just lost control of his side. This tower has a lot different attitude than Jed does and I think Jed does respect Parson and co. I don't think this one does nearly as much. And I don't think Charlie is going to take this tower being alive very well.Member of the Giants in the Playground Forum Chapter for the Movement to Reunite Gondwana!

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
New Update.
SpoilerAn interesting turn of events that I'm not sure what happened...I thought their [dirt and dollomancer] merge [with Isaac] was going to be forever and they wouldn't be able to get out. So I'm pretty sure they made the tower sentient like GK, but what I don't understand is why, and where the rest of the great minds went? Into the tower? Why is Isaac left behind in this doll? Is it a piece of him that is trying to undermine the rest of the whole?Last edited by TheWombatOfDoom; 2017-10-11 at 08:15 AM.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
Spoiler: New UpdateI guess... Isaac isn't completely bonkers. Possibly undid the caster link safely and left a bit of himself in the doll for Wanda to use as a thinkamancer to call Parson for an extraction. The doll was turned barbarian by Isaac. Maybe it took the form of mini-Isaac because Wanda had it join GK's side?
As for the tower, no idea what the plan is there. Maybe it keeps Charlie busy while Isaac moves to the next part of his plan. Or fate's plan. I dunno.Last edited by DigoDragon; 2017-10-11 at 07:36 AM.

Re: Erfworld Thread X: A Series of Unfortunate Cliffhangers
The rest of them took Issac's body, along with the pliers, the minecart, and the dead Archon. We don't know where they're going (and Wanda seems awfully blase about it - possibly his lecture about not cheating convinced her that some of those things went against Fate.)
