Default Help me name my cat [pictures inside]

    Hey playground, please help me!

Me and my fiancé just got a(nother) cat. This time she said she's gonna let me name it (as long as she likes the name). Long story short, I want to make a D&D reference (or at least a geek/pop culture reference), these are the names I have already tried and have been rejected:

    1. Shar
    2. Ehlonna
    3. Selune
    4. Lidda
    5. Trillian (from Hitchhiker's)
    6. Rylai
    7. Botan

So, can I count on you guys to help me?

Spoiler: This is the cat, it's female

Those are some huge ears: maybe go for an elvish thing? There's also some nice Chaotic themes there.

'Corellon' has a nice ring to it, in my opinion.

Also, this thread is perhaps best moved to the Friendly Banter subforum.

That sharp line down the middle of her face with white fur on one side and dark fur on the other made me immediately think of Two-Face. The character is a guy, but the moniker itself is unisex.

maybe Moraine, she is a really cool character from WoT who is very short. Other names could be Avery, Faile, or Mollie

P.S. Faile means falcon in the old tongue in WoT

Ooh I like this one. Could be shortened to Corey if you're pretending to be a normie around non-D&D nerds. Problem is it's a female though huh.

She looks a little scruffy and roguish, but I can't think of a good character I feel she looks like.

She has a little bit of a Falkor in there, but that's more of a dog maybe...

Maybe Terrie? She looks like a Terrie (and like a terrier for that matter, one of those real ones straight off a farm), and you can always claim its a reference to Terry Pratchett.

Janice. It sounds like Janus, the two-headed god of doorways of Ancient Rome. Which seems fitting for a cat, given their love of doors...

Perhaps Mythology is a better place to start? She could be Vanadis, another name for the Norse goddess Freya, who had a chariot pulled by cats. Just in case she doesn't like the sound of Freya. Another contender is Diana, the roman goddess of the hunt. Might encourage her to clean up the place.

I take it that Kitiara is a bit too corny for her. But she'd look so cute riding on a blue dragon!

Maybe your SO is into Star Trek and wouldn't mind the name Kira? She looks like a Kira to me.

Since it is not really diminished if someone else uses it, here is the name I have been saving for years for whenever I next get a feline: Astrophe. Think about it. Introducing them becomes a whole lot more fun.

Of course, I now have little girls. So my next cat will probably end up named Princess or Sprinkles.

How about an homage to the authors of science fiction, such as:

    Mercedes (Lackey)
    Ursula (K) Leguin
    Anne Mccaffrey
    Octavia (Butler)
    Marion (Zimmer Bradley)

There are so many listed on the Wikipedia page for "Women science fiction and fantasy writers"...

My favorite was always "Mephisto-fleas", but I couldn't bring myself to do that. "Tiacat" as a riff on the five headed draconic goddess, also tickles the same punny-bone.

Lame. My sister named a batch of kittens Tatiana, Theodora, Tutankhamen, and Theseus. Maybe you need to get your kids more interesting reading material.

The oldest is three. I think keeping her in the realm of princesses is good for now.

Though I suppose she might also want to name it Darth Vader if we got it right now. Or Charles Nelson Reilly. But she is funny that way.

It's probably a preference towards animals names that don't match human names. I share that same preference, and the first name that came to mind was Euphrates (mostly because that cat looks a bit like a cat I named Euphrates), followed by a bunch of names that would never show up on people inspired by how the stripes and coloration reminded me of the sand in steam beds. Among these were Dunes, Silt, and Ripple, of which Dunes and Silt are both decent names.
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.

I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that.
