The legionaire groans and looks up at the lizardman. Then he lets out a high pitched scream. He rolls backwards and on to his feet. He draws his gladious, and brandishes it at the lizardman. "Stay...stay back." He says, his voice cracking.

[Recaiden]

By the time Thariza is done with the careful work of forging the amulet, it doesn't seem like anyone's watching her any longer.
But just then, a disembodied voice asks her "What's it for? That's not something you're good at making."

Avalon

"Peace. I hurt you not." The lizardman gestures to his weapons, which are strapped to his pack, rather than in his hand. "I named Kothar."

[Morty]

[Forge]

Thariza turns around sharply, the fur on the back of her neck standing up and her lips curling back a little.

"I'm not fond of conversations with people I can't see," she says.

[Recaiden]

There is no one there when she turns around.
"Everyone says that. It would be easier if people could see me, wouldn't it? But they can't."

[Morty]

[Forge]

"Why can't they see you?" Thariza asks, still looking and sniffing around intently.

[Avalon]

The legionare's gladius wavers and lowers halfway. He blinks. "Um. Hello, Kothar" He glances around. This definitely wasn't where he came from. He lowers the sword and sheathes it. "Uh..where am I?"

Avalon

"Small town called Avalon, sits on island." Kothar gestures around at the town. You injured? Need healing?"

[Artemis97]

[Avalon]

"Why? Do you know a watercrafter?" The legionare asks. "And, uh, what are you, exactly?"

[Recaiden]

"Why can't they see you?" Thariza asks, still looking and sniffing around intently.

"Because there's nothing here to see."
Nothing around to smell either, that's not normally there.

Avalon

"I heal. I holy warrior, called paladin. I heal, kill evil." Kothar looks the legionaire up and down. "What do you, human?"

[Morty]

[Forge]

Thariza snorts and reaches into the pocket of her working apron. She produces a blindfold, which she puts over her eyes. With her physical sight blocked, she tries to attune to the Mists, and all the other less visible planes. Maybe there's something to be seen this way.

[Recaiden]

There are no ghosts, dimensional entities, or any such thing.
But Thariza might notice threads of magic reaching from her eyes and the air around her out through the air, snaking between the forges.

[Morty]

[Forge]

Thariza follows the threads, somewhat unsteadily. But she's far more coordinated than a blindfolded person should be.

[Recaiden]

The threads lead over to the forge where that goblin is at work. Making nails at the moment. Can't forget about the basics.

"Hey, can I help you?"

It's a fairly different voice from the one that was insulting Thariza's work. The goblin sounds guarded, nervous, a little confused, much higher-pitched.

[Morty]

[Forge]

"No, I'm just... looking for something," Thariza says awkwardly as she looks around for the threads some more. This whole situation is very odd.

[Recaiden]

"But not for like, a suit of armor we could make for ya?"
"Or this?"
The goblin holds up - the amulet Thariza just made? No; no on closer inspection, it's slightly different. A different sheen to the metal, slightly warmer still.

[Artemis97]

Avalon

"I heal. I holy warrior, called paladin. I heal, kill evil." Kothar looks the legionaire up and down. "What do you, human?"

"You're a reptile." The legionare points out. "I'm a legionare. I defend Alera from her enemies."

"Who Alera? I friends with many warm-bloods, never met Alera. Kothar doesn't know what the legionaire is talking about.

[Avalon]

The legionare shakes his head. "No no. Alera's not a person, it's an empire. It's where I'm from."

Avalon

"Oh. I never met an empire, but I heard of them. Why I Alera's enemy?" Kothar looks confused. He didn't know he had enemies here, except the masked man.

[Artemis97]

[Avalon]

"Well, basically, you're not human." The legionare puts it bluntly.

Avalon

"Why?" It's the only word Kothar could think of. He'd never been considered an enemy because of his race before. Sure, people were wary of him, but nothing like this.

[Morty]

[Forge]

"But not for like, a suit of armor we could make for ya?"
"Or this?"
The goblin holds up - the amulet Thariza just made? No; no on closer inspection, it's slightly different. A different sheen to the metal, slightly warmer still.

"There's something invisible, talking to people. I was trying to track it down..." then she lifts her blindfold just enough to see the amulet. Yes, it's almost like hers. "I was just making almost the same amulet."

[Recaiden]

"Och, yeah, finding the invisible is tough. You had a conversation to finish? 'fraid I haven't noticed anyone coming through her for the past couple hours."

The goblin looks down at the amulet again. "You were, huh? That's pretty...funny. Where'd you get the design?"

[Morty]

[Forge]

"Just a book," Thariza says, shrugging. "A guidebook for beginner jewellers. I wanted to make something that I hadn't before."

[Recaiden]

"A book, huh? I keep thinking I ought figure out how to use those. Though maybe this one had diagrams?"
The goblin nods, and with a bit of flapping and climbing over their equipment for the necessary height, tries to put their own copy of the amulet around Thariza's neck. Or one of her horns. Whatever.
"Now that you've made it, what's your next project?"

[Morty]

[Forge]

Thariza will politely decline the amulet. She doesn't want to wear jewellery, just make it.

"It had a lot of diagrams, measurements and all that, yes. As for what's next... well, I'm not sure. Some other delicate work. I've been a blacksmith for a while and now I want to try out something new. More precise and less utilitarian."

[Recaiden]

Can we trust the taste of a jeweler who doesn't wear jewelry? I expect that's besides the point. She doesn't care if anyone else wears it either, does she?

Something you can make use of even if you don't know how to read. Good, good.
"You want to be an artist?"
The goblin scowls, partly at the very idea of art, but mostly at the necklace being waved away.
"Utilitarian's good to make, means someone can actually use it, right?"

[Forge]

Thariza shrugs her expansive shoulders.

"Sure, and I'll keep making them. But recently it's been suggested that I broaden my horizons. I'm Thariza, by the way. One of the visitors here."
