    I'd recommend something last-gen, to be honest. Progress in mobile phones is really in diminishing returns at this point. Get something that supports whatever the current network standard is for you (I know it's 4G in the US but I don't know elsewhere), you'll have internet, phone, SMS. For me, at least, that's really all I do - the apps I've got are either lightweight stuff like music or lightweight interface-supplements like email and chat.

    I want to be able to play Fire Emblem Heroes cause that's of interest to me. The ability to phone people and that, that's basically it. Also being an alarm clock.

    Okay, probably not top tier then. Sadly, I'm very much a computer who mostly sees his phone as a portable WiFi hotspot which also can do some computer tasks in a pinch, so I'm not very well-versed in comparing phones...

    I'm really worried about my friend who lives in Puerto Rico. I heard that Hurricane Maria hits Puerto Rico severely and I haven't heard from him since. I hope he's ok.

    So, good news bad news. Good news, they're probably fine and it's just because Puerto Rico's been so completely smashed that it's dead. There is no electricity, no water, no food, it's basically cut off from the rest of all existence beyond the faintest scraps.

    The bad news is, all of that.

    So... any advice on how to quickly and decisively overcome the early stages of a cold? I don't want to have to spend school and work tomorrow all stuffed up and feeling under the weather.

    Get as much sleep as you can tonight. Your immune system works better when you're not short on sleep. (So do your coping skills, if you're anything like me.)

    Other than that, everyone has their own little "cold rituals" and I'm not sure any of them actually make a difference. Personally, I've found that turmeric seems to make my nose happier and not all stuffed up, but I have no idea if that's just me or something that's also true for other people. (I'm allergic to lots of things that normal people can eat, so maybe I'm also anti-allergic to turmeric and should put it on lots of things? I don't think that's how science works, though. Since it's tasty, reasonably cheap, and I don't get sick when I eat it, I haven't felt the need to explore it in a more scientific way rather than just make yummy rice bowls for dinner on a regular basis.)

    There's not really anything you can do to make a cold last less time, as far as I know--the best you can do is alleviate the symptoms so you feel less bad while the cold is at its height. If you actually did find some reliable way to cure a cold in less than 24 hours I'm pretty sure you'd never have to work again, so there's that!

    What would a 4d graph of
    t = (x^3 + y^3 + z^3 + 3xyz) - ((x^2)y + (x^2)z + (y^2)x + (y^2)z + (z^2)x + (z^2)y)
    look like?

    It depends on how the graph is shown - 3D isoclines at constant t makes the most sense, but there's some stuff that could be done involving color mapping at select points in a white space, or color mapping surfaces where the color is described by the equation. This is particularly true given that this looks a lot like a conduction heat transfer equation.

    t = (x^3 + y^3 + z^3 + 3xyz) - ((x^2)y + (x^2)z + (y^2)x + (y^2)z + (z^2)x + (z^2)y)

    reduces to

    t = (x^3 + y^3 + z^3 + 3xyz) - ((x^2)(y+z) + (y^2)(x+z) + (z^2)(x+y))

    This makes it clearer to look at. As x, y, and z go negative the graph goes negative pretty quickly. Running along each axis reduces the equation to the form of t = x^3, so you get cubic behavior along each axis. Moving away from the axes reintroduces the negative terms, thus reducing them relative to straight lines between (A,0,0), (0,A,0) and (0,0,A). The isoclines would curve inwards, while curving outwards between (-A,0,0), (0,-A,0) and (0,0,-A) where A is a single positive number for all of them).

    Yeah, that doesn't really make it better. I am a Boy Scout and have tried it. Sure, it helps with the chafing, but your feet get soaked in sweat and shrivel up, which hurts almost as much, and for a longer period of time. I mean, you could buy moisture-wicking socks, but they cost a whole lot more.

    Cosplay is specifically cosplaying as a specific thing. A costume is just "a costume". To explain...

    Generic devil outfit: costume.

    Hellboy outfit: cosplay.

    Ok. Thank you for explaining it to me. I thought that costume and cosplay are the same thing.
