Default Question about spell gentle repose

So it just not clicking in my mind but can I use gentle repose on a zombie I raised using animated dead spell on to make it under my control for 10 days?

    Or

Does it just keep someone from using a body it's casted on from raising it from the dead?

It's a ritual to keep a body fresh so you can get your party member to a temple at low level. It prevents them from becoming undead so can stop someone being Undeaded by a Wight or Vampire (if the cleric burned spells). Maybe a shadow too but I'm afb.

So no extra 10 days on your minion.

Depending on DM interpretation, it might keep your already raised zombie from getting more rotten/smelly over its duration. Many DMs will allow this, but that's because it's an entirely fluffy effect that costs a spell slot. (Granted, only one every week and a half.)

Otherwise, it's like lunaticfringe said. If the cleric is not high enough level to raise the dead himself, this buys you more time until you find one who can do it for you.
