    The little shadow sinks back into the earth and quickly begins move back towards the direction he left the others. he sends to his new friends "There is a strange darkness here that not even I cannot see in, maybe its a magic dark or something indivisible. Sounds like its got some knives!"

    Hearing this news, Vyory decides to come down to the group to make it easier to talk things over. He lands softly a short distance away and walks up to the group in hopes that he won't alert the potentially blind guy to the fact that a dragon is next to him. He then asks, "So there is something down there that has what sounds to be knives or short swords. But you say there is a darkness down there that you can't see through to tell exactly who or what is down there." He thinks for a minute before coming up with probably the worst idea ever. "You know," he says, drawing it out, "we could burn it out." He pauses before realizing how bad this sounds and then quickly adds, "If we burn him out, I'm sure we could earn enough money to get this man's property replaced. Just an idea, but I'm not to fond of going in to fight something I can't see." He then looks over at the old man and makes careful note to stay out of reach of his cane just in case he has angered the man.

    The bulky troll holds out a hand to the old man and utters a monosyllabic command, "Key." If the old man complies, Ghil will slide the key into the lock but leave it unturned for a moment as he gestures the other to step back a foot or so. Taking a moment to focus and bring forth his mantle of flames, Ghil stands in front of the door with his falchion held in one hand. Provided noone speaks up to discourage him until this point, Ghil gestures for the others to be ready and, giving them a few moments to prepare, opens the door and steps in, blocking the entrance with his bulk and his flames and taking his sword up in both hands, prepared for the blades in the dark.

    Ghil will try to avoid catching the basement on fire, if possible, then steps in and readies an action to attack any threat he perceives as close enough. He expects the sound of the door open and the advent of light to draw the creature out. rolls provided in case they are applicable. If it charges, I think I get an additional attack due to steadfast boots.

    His brows furrowed at the odd notions of his smoky companion, why would you want to spare a creature that might attack you? Although, perhaps he intends to use whatever it is as a beast of war or burden if possible, like the decaying flying thing the lizard had been riding. Taking a moment to douse his flames, Ghil steps back up to the door with one hand on the latch and stares quizzically at Reza for the sign to commence, the other hand on his weapon, ready to take up his sword if this got bloody.

    Reza positions himself about 20 feet from the door, lining himself up so that he is facing directly into the entrance.
    "Open it now and step aside!"
    When the door opens and Ghilbrizeth is clear, he exhales a roaring jet of smoke and embers into the doorway. Once that's done he flies over to the roof, to be out of the line of fire if anything shoots or charges out of the door.

    Using Scalding Gust. As Gust of Wind, with everything hit taking 3 fire damage. It should extend another 40 feet into the basement and/or swirl around if it hits obstacles inside.

    The creature seems to be on the stairs, perhaps preparing to attack. You can only tell due to an occasional swirl of smoke around its form.

    The indistinct spot in the smoke seems very agitated - then Sil's Color Spray hits it and it seems to wobble? Maybe? Regardless it doesn't so anything else.

    Something bright orange spatters as Ghil feels the resistance of flesh or something flesh like when he strikes with his blade. Blood? Perhaps of a kind.

    The smoke is beginning to clear, though, and as it begins to clear you have a glimpse of the distorted area moving again. It attacks Ghil in a rush up the stairs!

    The creatures blades shear through Ghil's thick skin easily, causing a look of concern to darken his mien. The troll had expected this to be a fight without real stakes, but he had clearly underestimated the creature. Dropping the spear, useless in close quarters, Ghil draws his falchion and swings down at the creature.

    Assuming the creature has closed with Ghil, he can no longer use the spear effectively. If the creature is somehow attacking with reach, Ghil will use his spear again to maintain his position in the chokepoint.

    Again, orange goo splashes, this time with a smell of burning hair that is deeply offensive.

    Reza's flame nearly toasts the top of Ghil's head, but reaches the area of the creature as well. However the creature seems to still be up and able, and it attacks again, this time a blow coming from either side!

    More orange blood spatters, and the creature keens, a screech that ascends out of hearing range for most of you (though Sil can still hear it, and it is very annoying until it abruptly cuts off.) The smoldering creature tumbles forward, seemingly motionless though still difficult to fully discern. However, Sil can make out it has a small head, and seems wiry - almost scrawny. It's back limbs seem to be clawed feet, but its forelimbs end in what might be some sort of blades.
