Will Redcloak murder Tsukiko in this tournament, just like he did in the comic? (Probably.)

The numbers to the right of each character's name is the sum of the points awarded to the character on all ballots in the Character Popularity Poll thread over the past week, and then the number of ballots the character appeared on, the average points of those who included them, and the number of voters who gave each their 10 point position.

In addition, Tsukiko earned 31 nods to win her Wildcard block, just 4 nods ahead of the runner ups, the Flumpfs.

The fact that I've started a new wave of matchups does NOT mean that the matches that began on Tuesday are closing, those will continue until this coming Tuesday. Similarly, I will then begin a new batch, but that will not mean that these polls are closing: they will remain open until next Saturday.

The only rule is to vote for the character who is your favorite of these two. Whoever gets the most votes goes on to the second round, while the other is eliminated.

The qualifications for "Favorite" are personal and up to the decision of each balloter alone. This is not a competition for who would win in a fight, or who is the most moral... UNLESS that is what makes them YOUR favorite.

He has been one of my favorite characters since very early in the comic. Looks like Tsukiko is going to have a little bit of deja vu.

Redcloak's depth and complexity puts him near the top of my ballot for the whole thing, so yes, I vote for the result that mirrored the events in-comic.

I do like Tsukiko, she has some good lines, but it's not even close Redcloak is definitely getting my vote, he's a great villain, hateable yet understandable, and his slide into evil is so well explained... Plus, it's clear that his original noble goal of Goblins being welcomed into the community of nations as equals will actually happen, although he almost certainly won't be alive to see it, which is great storytelling.

There are both pretty interesting characters, and ironically they fill a very similar space in terms of what their character role is. However, as sympathetic as I feel toward Tsukiko in the end, I prefer Redcloak.

I like Redcloak a lot, but not as much as others in the forum, I think. In future rounds I will likely be voting against him. But not this round...

Start of Darkness is almost entirely based on Redcloak, and it's a great book! In addition, Redcloak killing Tsukiko is one of the most memorable and bad-ass strips of all.

As in the story, Tsukiko had to scrape through challenges (qualifying) to get to this point in the competition. As in the story, Redcloak will defeat her without blinking.

Ditto. Redcloak is the most interesting villain in the entire strip and gets my vote. Tsukiko is a boil on the nether regions.

I vote Redcloak. He isn't just the most interesting villain in the comic, he's basically a driving force behind almost everything major that's happened in it since Start of Darkness (either directly or indirectly), and is a giant example of the sunk cost fallacy. Redcloak turned Xykon into a lich, didn't listen to his brother's warnings about him, burned down the first gate, and fiddled about for a year in Gobbotopia which led to the fall of Girard's Gate, Durkon's vampirization, and Hel's plan to end the world. There's hardly any plot to OOTS without him.

Tsukiko succumbed to an ironic fate that even a smidgen of wisdom should have shown her was coming. She was reckless, arrogant, and kind of one-dimensional.

Redcloak is complex but not that entertaining, but Tsukiko was just generally annoying, so Wrong-Eye gets my vote... this round.

Redcloak, obviously. Tsukiko was okay, but nothing special...she's a character archetype that's been done before, with only her love for the undead truly separating her...and that isn't exactly a positive in my mind. It doesn't help that she's outclassed by Redcloak in her very best (and last) scene of the comic.
