(1d20+11)[21] bluff check. X has no intention of letting the woman actually survive, but will happily pretend to be willing for the sake of a fancy boat. Not sure if this is more along the lines of conveying a secret message to Grumblejack or tricking the woman into believing him, but both require bluff checks.

Sorry for the double post. It occurs to me that it may be necessary to use intimidate to get Grumblejack to comply. I hope not, and will only intimidate if he appears to refuse. (1d20+13)[29]

Just Fyi, I'm driving 5 hours for vacation tomorrow, and will be with family until next Sunday. I'll do my best to keep up, regardless.

Sorry about the lack of activity, work is picking up (you know how retail is this time of year), and my boss is going out of his way to make my life hell.

I ended up passing out after work for 6 hours and then passing out again for 6 hours after letting the dog out. I fear I am coming down with something. . .

No worries. Just wanted to make sure it hadn't been overlooked. I'm still on vacation, just happened to squeeze out a few minutes to peruse. :-D

Doing a quick detect magic on the runed scimitar. If's it's not magic, well, Caleb isn't proficient and has a -1 appraise modifier, so he figures that if it was valuable, someone else would have grabbed it.

I wanted to ask you all about how we want to handle XP. There are two ways we can do this: One is by passing out XP per normal and leveling when you reach the correct amount. This requires book keeping and runs the risk of you being of a lower level than you should be, but also affords the chance to be a higher level than the threats you face.

The other method is because this is a published adventure path, it explicitly states when players should have reached certain levels in the 6 book adventure. I can just have us level up when we reach those milestones. It is less to keep track of, no risk of being below your level, but you won't have the chance to be above level.

As it stands now, your characters have earned 925XP each and are on track to level up when you are supposed to anyways.

Also I want to congratulate all of you we have been playing for over three months now. In most Pbp games I have been in, we would have lost a player by now, but all of you have stuck with the game.

When I played this game as a Pbp player, at three months in we were still in the stairwell waiting for the right moment to attack the guards in the hallway. It was at 5 months that we got to the point you are all at now. Mostly because we lost two weeks as two players insisted on roleplaying an argument over whether we should sneak out of the Castle at dusk or at twilight.

So thank you for being a cooperative group and continuing to move the plot along rather than delay it.

I agree. It's just not worth the overhead (dragged out over however long) to be picking about actual experience points.

Also, I've been pleasantly surprised at the game so far. We seem to have come across a reliable bunch, and I'm very much enjoying the uncomfortable gentleman's agreement. :-D

Kinda fun to play the unrepentant @rsehole, on occasion.

I don't mind either way, though I do like seeing all the fancy numbers on my sheet.

And yea, the campaign is going pretty quickly for pbp. Last time I tried this, I joined late, and iirc the rest of the group had just gotten out of their cells, so I was waiting in a different cell for them. Two or three weeks went by with maybe one or two posts, and then myth-weavers crashed . I didn't stay.

Which is another thing I'm trying to work on. Usually, I'm one of the first to drop, assuming the DM doesn't first. So... yea. I apologize for any lack of posting, and if my interest seems elsewhere.

    Milestone advancement works for me.

And indeed, our team has a way to go before there is enough trust to work together well, but at least the characters seem to agree that they need each other enough to not push points that they might in other circumstances.

To be honest, X would *absolutely* have abandoned you all to escape with the Ogre who appears friendly.

I tried to find a reasonable way to explain that *I* didn't want to pursue that line of thought. :-D

    XD

We'll have to engineer an opportunity for our characters to actually develop some semblance of fondness for one another. Might be tough. Might not. We'll see.

Dropping a notice to let you all know that I will be traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday. As such, I won't be posting as much as usual starting the afternoon of Wednesday, November 22 through Sunday, November 26.

Letting you all now that Inigo has no plan on keeping the coin for himself, just gathering it up in the rush for an exit with plan to divide between all once time allows. He may be evil, but he still believes in even wage for even work.

And, finally, a glorious one-day-break from the horror known as holiday retail!

Gail hasn't really contributed much to combat, outside of her voice, so I figure she could at LEAST take over being the torch (if thats an Ioun Torch, and not just a spent ioun stone with light cast on it)

Waiting on three rolls from Caleb and Gail and which room each roll goes too.

Choices are library, Warden's office, Warden's chambers,

I will take the GM screen down and reveal that Amber found everything of value in the Hall of History so there is no advantage of searching in there again.
