Default What's on your Halloween playlist?

So, I made my Halloween playlist this morning and I was wondering, have you made one? If so what's on it? If not, what will be on it?

Manheim Steamroller, one of my favorite bands, put out a halloween album with some good stuff on it. The Funeral March of the Marrionette, Harvest dance ,and especially Midnight on a Full Moon are pretty good.

Personally I go for They Were Wrong, So We Drowned by Liars. The story goes that the band were googling for their song Broken Witch and mistyped it as Brocken Witch, which brought up loads of info on Walpurgisnacht and they took inspiration from that to make a high-concept album themed around witchcraft. It's a tricky album to recommend to others since a lot of it is very avant garde and difficult, but Hold Hands And It Will Happen Anyway is pretty great. If you're more adventurous then We Fenced Other Gardens With The Bones Of Our Own, There's Always Room On The Broom and They Don't Want Your Corn, They Want Your Kids aren't too inaccessible either. Broken Witch itself however is possibly the toughest song on the album.

Aside from that, I'm a fan of Season of the Witch by Donovan, The Gloaming by Radiohead and The Killing Moon by Echo & The Bunnymen.

The entire "Spirit Phone" album by Lemon Demon is heavily occult-themed, but with a cheerful and humorous twist that makes it good as party music too.

My favourite track is When He Died, a very upbeat song about a number of strange occurances surrounding a man's death.

Well I always enjoy the annual Halloween show on classical music station KDFC, but I'm going to recommend an obvious one:

i just took a music appreciation course, so with my newfound knowledge, i will say: anything atonal. atonal music is the best. i even wrote one song that's atonal (The Dark Unicorn), but it's for a boss fight so it's short and i had no idea i was making atonal music at the time.

didn't mean to turn that into self-promotion lol. Arnold Schoenberg invented a system of making atonal music and i think he wrote a lot of atonal music. you can just search youtube for it. sounds cool, good for Halloween.

Won't be doing much for Halloween myself this year, as I'm working that evening.

But one year I just put the music from the Banshee Boardwalk course from Mario Kart 64 on repeat for the whole evening and piped it out onto the porch. It was suitably spooky, I thought.

Lordi, Blood Red Sandman, Chainsaw Buffet, The Devil is a Loser, Now it Snows in Hell, anything really.
Maybe some Alestorm too, Drink, Keelhauled, even though it's not the core theme of Halloween.
Some film music, Terminator 2 (the same music as 1 but with the synchronization fixed), The BFG (the cartoon version)
Spinnekop Spook probably, not as useful for an English speaking audience.
Same for Klein Orkest De Kinderverslinder.

O right, The Twilight Zone. I'll have both the Golden Earring and the 2 Unlimited song by that name.

While I'm posting anyway, give me S.P.O.C.K. as well with They Are (Already) Here.

I need to remember to take Nergal and Ereshkigel and Witches Gather off of my playlist. The former is poorly performed even for a heavy metal song (what comes out of the singer's mouth doesn't even sound like language, though lyrics pages on the internet assure me that he is indeed speaking english) and ghe latter just isn't very good

It seems everyone left off my favorite: Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo.

Also Tubular Bells , better known as the Exorcist theme.

Nope, it was in my list under "It's a dead man's party"

That one's too long to go on my play list. It's like an hour long and I'd have to manually join the two halves in Audacity (though, granted, I took the trouble to do this for GWAR's Bloody Pit Of Horror suite)

Nobody has mentioned Spooky Scary Skeletons yet?

    For shame.

    Show
Oft when the summer sleeps among the trees,
Whispering faint murmurs to the scanty breeze,
I walk the village round; if at her side
A youth doth walk in stolen joy and pride,
I curse my stars in bitter grief and woe,
That made my love so high and me so low.

O should she e'er prove false, his limbs I'd tear
    And throw all pity on the burning air;
I'd curse bright fortune for my mixed lot,
And then I'd die in peace, and be forgot.

Dude, that's awesome! I'd only heard the Stones version and the Guns N' Roses version before.

    Thanks!

My younger ant-boomer self would recoil and insist that the Dead Kennedy's are better, but now (while I realize they also did a lot of junk) I acknowledge that when it comes to song-writing the Stones really are "The Greatest Rock 'n Roll band" (I still often like cover versions of their songs better though).

But since it's even closer to Halloween, in a similar vein, this was on my DM's turn-table on game nights back in the early 1980's, enjoy:

O, and I don't believe we have the D-Devils yet with The 6th Gate.

Best song in the world (Tribute) may also count.
