Default Bags of Holding are pretty hard to come by...

Honestly, you'd think that this would be that LAST thing the guy in the news story would forget: Dumb Guy

Apparently, in real life people don't have magical inventories that carry items for you in extra-planar spaces...
    In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
    Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
    And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter - bitter", he answered,
    "But I like it
    Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

I do remember a story of a bank robber who put a paper bag over his head so he wouldn't be recognized, but forgot to make holes for his eyes.

I heard a story about a bank robber who got away with it but came back to the same bank on the next day, trying to deposit the robbed money.

But if there WERE bags of holding...
Imagine rich people putting their stuff into those bags and deposit them at their local bank. Next, some bank robber shows up and want the content of the save. He puts all the bags of holding into his bag of holding.... Ouch!

    ha.

that reminds me of a similar story.

A guy went into a convenience store and asked for change for a 20 dollar bill. When the cashier opened the register, he pulled a gun, demanded all the money in the register, shoved it into a bag and ran off.

He left the $20 on the counter.

Total cash from the register $17.52.

Which begs the question: if someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is it a crime?

On a related note, burglars have not always been noted for their smart, cool, and efficent actions, but this one broke the cardinal rule: when robbing someone, make sure they cannot turn the tables on you.

And to those who say that videogame violence is the cause of this rise in criminal action, look at it this way: The really good gamers are still at home, playing their games until they've exhausted every last option, while the poor gamers get frustrated and say "I SO could have pulled that off IRL". The real culprit here is not videogames, as it were, but a short attention span.

I've heard that before, but with a bank. A guy pulls a gun on a teller and demands that typical "I want the money.". The idiot then puts his gun on the counter while the teller gives him the cash. The teller grabs the gun and the shows over for the robber. People.. *scoffs*

Continuing our theme of less-than excellent examples of human ingenuity, here's a man that proves that sleeping on the job is not advised, doubly so considering his line of work.

Pretty funny. I work nights so sometimes I find it hard to stay awake but if I was like that guy I would have at least stayed awake long enough to get to a safe place. How stupid.

Couple I heard a while back was pretty funny also. On was a guy decided to rob a bank in the nude, only wearing a mask. Figuring the police could not get a cloths description (I guess). But he robbed the bank where his girlfriend was working as a teller. She recognized him and told the police where he lived. They almost beat him to his own home.

The other was a couple of guys decided to rip open a ATM machine. They found a way to tie a chain to the front of the machine and then attached the machine to the bumper of their truck. They took off in a panic when the bumper ripped of their truck, making a lot of noise. Leaving their lisence plate attached to the bumper.

In this world, there are a great many posers who have ruined many a good name. However, trying to sneak into Canada as a Shaolin Temple wannabe is just sad.
