This is the seventh in a series of covering the history of my setting from creation through the present day - sometime around 4500 CA, or Current Age. This post covers some additional early recorded history known to those in the present day and is the state of Primaterra circa 300 DA, or Dark Age/Age of Darkness - the equivalent of -300 CA.

As with all of my setting posts, this is very much a WIP and any/all criticisms, questions, comments, or suggestions ARE VERY WELCOME!

Spoiler: Obsidian Keep, Uozuemon the Demon King
Show

In successive, massive defeats at the hands of the Mechkanans, Uozuemon had little choice but to with a vast majority of his remaining forces to his remaining strongholds. As powerful as Mechkanan forces proved to be, the Demon King had spent two millenniums fortifying the Obsidian Keep, his seat and source of power. Even now, at his weakest point, The Demon King saw a path to victory and would stop at nothing to see his dominion over all Primaterra be realized.

Spoiler: Sisvar - Giant zealots and their Cult leaders
Show

Though the continued war fatigue weighed heavy on the Giant nation of Sisvar, their unwavering and fervent cult rituals grew even stronger as time drew on. The Sisvar viewed each battle fought between the Mechkanans and Uozuemon as a weakening of their two overly ambitious rivals - convinced that biding their time and continued faith would see them to be the lasting victors of the centuries long war.

Spoiler: Hiboran Empire, Human/Elf/Dwarf, The Nine
Show

While hardly the grand empire it would become in the millennia to follow, it was around this time that the still captial of Falgo was adopted and multiple local lords plead fealty to a untied Empire, but no Emperor would rule - instead a Council of Nine (or The Nine) would act as one on behalf of all the Empire. Mutual protection was a necessity of the times with the ever shifting sands of war, not just against local horde-kin, but in the scope of the still very dangerous world.

Spoiler: Saudara Empire, Drow, Mistress of the Abyssal Web
Show

As many had forseen, the once sprawling Drow Empire was now a fraction of it's former self, centered around the City of Elg’Shaa. Like a bursting flask of alchemists fire, no one could specifically say what sparked the collapse, but when it started, everything was quickly engulfed. Perhaps 80% of the population was killed in the century and a half long struggle, but in the end, a Draegloth Queen, Mistress of the Abyssal Web, with myserious origins, now ruled.

Spoiler: Guul Jhong Tribelands, Minotaur, King Rhastag
Show

United under a powerful minotaur warrior, King Rhastag, the Tribes of the Guul Jhong confronted and banished the last of the Vlosanum’re, their ships scattered to the winds. In turn, with the collapse of the Uru'Shek, there was little opposition left to stop a rapid expansion of the Tribelands and the foundation of a sizable homeland. At the outset the Minotaurs wanted little than wresting control of their ancestral territory from the oppressive Drow, but in doing so became the economic engine of the region. With so many less powerful races at their frontiers, the Guul Jhong quickly found a niche as slavers.

Spoiler: Uru'Shek, Elven, Emperor Vex At'Natan
Show

Pushed by the nature of their centuries old stratocracy, war could not be delayed any longer and though there was no immediate threat, it was decided that Uozuemon was to be per-emptively attacked and destroyed. This ended in miserable failure. Powerful as they were, the Uru'Shek Dragon Riders had never before engaged with such devastating forces as those put forward by Ouzuemon and their campaign at the Obsidian Keep ended in failure. All but one Dragon Rider was slain, the now Emperor Vex At'Natan. His reprieve upon returning was short lived. The Mechkanans saw no reason to not capitalize on the blunder and though they sought no territory across the Abyssal Sea, they launch a massive campaign to destroy one of the more powerful forces that would no doubt oppose them at some point. Withdrawing to their central fortresses, the Uru'Shek withstood total annihilation, but were a mere shard of their former military glory. Without the backing of their military, upon which they relied to acquire resources and food, the Empire began to dwindle.

Spoiler: Mechkanans, Gnome, King Hule Goldnova
Show

Victory came easy to the Mechkanans after the Uru'Shek attempted a pre-emptive strike on Uozuemon's forces - leaving both factions of oppressors open for aggressive and devastating counter attacks. The victories were decisive, but the cost was great both in Mechkanan lives as well as the toll on the cities and fortresses they took. The Mechkanans weapons were indeed powerful, but indiscriminately destroyed nearly everything in their path. There were some who questioned the methods by which victory was being achieved, but they were indeed in the minority and many believed that victory at any cost was the only way forward for the sake of all Primaterra.
