Actually I will almost certainly keep playing Mountain Dwarf characters in each class from PHB and SCAG until I actually read the content.
With one exception, I play AL games only nowdays.

I have a Chaotic Good Northerner Paladin of the Ancients who worships Kord (the God of Storms); Str 18, Dex 9, Con 16, Int 11, Wis 10, Cha 16.

I said it somewhere else already, but I'd be interested to try and MC into Storm Herald Barbarian (likely Tundra, because he hails from a Northerner Clan called Tundra Wolves).
I've been allowed to benefit from Dual Wielder's +1 AC while wielding shield, so technically I could go bare-naked with the MC and still have fairly decent Armor Class (+3 from Dual Wielder and Shield, a total of +2 from dex and con, though I may put one ASI to increase either both dex & int by one or take a feat to improve only dex, gettin AC of 16 which isn't bad if you ask me)

The only 5e game I'm in, I'm playing a Mystic, and enjoying it. If the DM gets tired of it, I may switch to War Wizard, depending on what that looks like, because, to be fair, I basically just enjoy blowing things up.

Otherwise, if I decide that playing in another group outweighs yet another 5e game, we'll see. I like the Warforged Forge cleric idea tbh.

We use that too, in addition to that you need to find a member of the class to be your instructor (because we use the optional rule of training to gain a level)

Even though the race/class combo is far from "optimal" I really want to play a Githyanki Hexblade. I might change the origin of his powers from "shadow" to "psychic" if that makes more sense. The Gith are pretty much all psions, after all....

I have to admit, with that fairly minor tweak you could make a soul knife -esque character. More so if you could change the pact of the blade manifested weapon's damage type to psychic.

I'll be insanely happy if the raven queen is released. My current group allows you to change your character as long as you are below level 5. So if the raven queen is released, I'll without a doubt change my warlock to that patron.

It's not. At least not as it's own warlock patron. Although, can't say yet if Raven Queen patron features are spread into Eldritch Invocations and/or as part of the Hexblade. It could be either way really.

    BEar barbarian 3/redemption paladin17.

Great tanking. Redemption Paladins can’t cast their spells while raging, but they can LoH, Absorb Ally damage, smite (Great with reckless attack), channel divinity, give cha to saves, etc.

As long as they keep using their paladin ability to absorb allied damage, they can use this to keep their hp up while doing this.

    Couldn’t you actually do that?
1 get a soul knife mystic to make their soul blade.
2 get a forge cleric to bless it. Making it a magic weapon.
3 bond to the soul knifes mystic weapon.

    A. I'm going to be 45 in december...

    B. I'm a big fan of casting without bleeding before my next turn. That's why I mc-ed into hexblade with medium armor, a shield and the shield spell.

Man, this is a hard question. A lot of things appeal to me.

    1. A grapplin' monster hunter ranger. I could combine my most min/maxed grappling abilities (enhance ability, anyone?) with their feature that prevents teleportation (assuming that they get it at a sufficiently low level) to make sure my foes never get away.

    2. Moar barbarians.

    3. Someday I want to make a DM cry with armies of draft horses. And for that, the circle of the shepherd is a must.

    4. Definitely going to look into cavalier and Samurai. I've done mounted combat before and enjoyed the image, and the Samurai seems like a higher-offense barbarian, which could potentially be great.

I'll probably slap together some kind of shepherd druid, some amount of lawful evil with summon spells and area gum-up effects like plant growth and wall spells. If I get to play at high level, i'll probably conjure fey for a giant croc (even though it's 1 cr lower than I can get) and planar bind it to make it stick around. maybe pull some conjure woodland beings for darklings just to see how well that works with the extra benefits.

I was actually looking back to the spells in EEPC which are going to be reprinted in Xan's, and druid gets a pretty good expansion to what they can do overall, actually. Unfortunately they don't get a ton in terms of hard damage numbers, but they don't really need to. not everything has to be a damage hose after all. Funny enough, all of the things I'm most excited to try to use are water based: tidal wave, wall of water, water sphere, and maelstrom. It might be worth eventually trying a "water bender" coast druid build.

Just cause i want to play a plague bearer or something like that (using Infect -cantrip-, reflavoring EB and using the Cloak of Flies -do Poison damage in area and give you adv on INTIMIDATION checks)

Note: I also have a couple of Barbarian ideas, well... in general, it depends on the lvl of the adventure.

But... but... but back then you were fighter or thief but not both at the same adventure. Sadly limiting. Gygax was a human-centric demi-human limiting influence.

And the thief part of my dwarf hated hailing that chainmail around in his pack!
