Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
Yes, the rules that you constantly complained about and constantly accused others of arguing in bad faith with you over haven't changed.
Anti-Durkon had plans to escape to Hel's plane after the vote of the end of the world, so I presume the vampires could get there somehow. That said, I would not expect Brother Fangstone to keep his promise to Minrah.Last edited by Ruck; 2017-10-26 at 02:45 PM.

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
I wonder if a light spell like sunburst can have an effect through a forcecage? it's transparent, after all.
If I was V, going up against Vampires, that is surely a spell I would learn and prepare. And the others in the party would probably have the ability to either make the reflex save or have blindness cured by the new Cleric.Spoiler: Avatar & Iron Chef AwardsAwesome Dragonfire Bard Avatar by Oneris. Each one of us, alone, is but a drop in the sea
Our powers pale compared with the great heroes
Our battles don’t hit theheadlines or shake the earth
But they are few, can’t be everywhere, and we, many
So, when the world or universe needs saving, they come
But when people needs saving, we are the ones to appear
We're underdogs, but we rise up to the challenge to be heroes.

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
It still takes V out for a round, as V has to cast dispel-magic to full-size Bloodfeast, and Miron is of at least comparable level to V (and could easily be higher), making the caster-level check quite difficult.
I'd probably just go for dismissal if thinking tactically, OTOH, this is a webcomic, not a D&D tactics seminar, and as a webcomic Bloodfeast smashing the forcecage from within could be quite amusing.

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
I didn't get this feeling until you mentioned it. Dwarves, at least these dwarves, are highly social. He could have been a mentor or a trusted friend, so hopping around the planes to bop demons on the head with a hammer with a good friend sounds more like something Minrah wants in a non-romantic sense: Validation as a cleric (She might have some fighter levels) and glorious battle.
One thing I found out by re-reading the archives is that Malack circumvented the 1d4 day thing with his staff and mentioned a few custom spells. So Durkon could have raised all of them as vampires, not vampire spawn regardless of class levels depending on what that spell did.For all of your completely and utterly honest needs. Zaydos made, Tiefling approved.

Wondering if V could use invisibility and dismiss the spell. Would the invisibility fade? Each one of us, alone, is but a drop in the sea

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
Another problem with reverting Bloodfeast would be... his death. The vampire spawn would swarm him like bullet ants, and they'd only need a round or two to kill him.
Being a full vampire, Brother Sandstone is actually seriously dangerous now. Where other spawn are hitting for one negative level, he's hitting for two. He could have a dangerous spell or two left, and he might even survive a round of melee with Roy.Even the wind will know agony.

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
Well, that's not great for the team. I wonder if V couldn't clear a path before dismissing the cage though. A wall of fire or two in a ring wider than the box they're in perhaps, allowing for dismissal and immediate assault on a small group by the order.

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
Well, well. Durkula has identified V as the most dangerous enemy. Which, by OotS logic, means that V will not be the most dangerous enemy.
It is time for Elan to rise.
Also, brother Sandstone is a nasty piece of work now that he's a vampire. This ... is my signature finishing move!

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
I'm expecting Bloodfeast being used to punch a hole up through the surface, letting daylight through and showing that someone shouldn't have been ignoring protection from sunlight. But not now, later.
I think you might be misreading. He's offering to fight with her against demons(chaotic evil afterlife), specifically.
Lawful good folks do that, of course... but so do Lawful Evil ones. He's offering her an eternity of killing demons... as a devil.Last edited by Manty5; 2017-10-26 at 03:32 PM.

Ahhhhh it took two readthroughs to notice Mr. Scruffy's extremely helpful action in the final panel.
Just think, all those times when you persuaded yourself that the monsters in your closet couldn't see you if you couldn't see them... had real application as a strategy! At least now I can get back to enjoying my glass of elven wine in peace and quiet, without being called on to intervene in someone else's problems.

Wait! Hold on, it's possible that V has just the spell for this situation! If nothing else, it'll prevent gaze attacks.

Re: OOTS #1103 - The Discussion Thread
One other thing this shows us is that V didn't pick up those boots in Gnometown. Otherwise, V could just bop over there and bust an AoE on the vamps before turning Roy and Belkar loose to do their thing.
