Yeah, when they were gearing against Tsukasa's Empire things were more interesting. So hopefully the focus on finding out where the other radio waves come from will be fun to read.

    New chapter!

It...sure is an intimidating image of a skull screaming why that they've accidentally tapped into. I wonder what it means.

I suspect it may not have to do with other stone civilizations, but with something that...survived, possibly even caused, the stone age wave.

    Great GPS you got there

Eh... I feel very suspicious. I mean, I guess an endless loop of WHY is a weird message to send but I wouldn't think it's malicious. I guess we're meant to take this at face value but I would be confused, not intimidated or scared.
No idea what the source is, but I'd prefer another civilization over something sinister.

Just a nice little chapter about Chrome finding iron, and that's my favorite thing in this series; when Chrome shows the spark of human intelligence that leads to science.

I'm still not happy with how everyone assumes the worst from the transmission. All they got was a short loop with three letters but nobody questions that it must be some evil entity responsible for the petrification.

Apart from that, it was neat. Though I feel like a speaker would have been a better output device for the sonar and the metal detector. But manga ain't an audible medium.

    And... Sudden minecarts. Hilarious.

More progress! Also, the story admits that making stuff takes time. Not growing plants, mind you, but building ships Reporter girl's reaction felt a bit forced, though.

It's still fun and I'm looking forward to the next arc. (?)

Nah, we got a new chapter. Nothing much to say, though. It's all pretty neat, good setup for the next arc.
I'm still just baffled they insist on jumping to the conclusion that the sender must be responsible for the petrification. Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?....

Okay, I know Senku's dad isn't a genius but you know what you should have passed down in these stories? Things like "how to do agriculture", "how to make a simple machine", "basic medicine"... not "name your village after minerals" and "what parts of a fugue do you eat". I hope we'll never get the entirety of these stories, I'm sure I'll get even angrier.

Also, wow, sudden minor character becoming important. And how does nobody care you don't have a name for years? That village is a weird place...

I'm stoked for another civilization... I just hope we won't get too much nonsense about their way of life.

My best guess as to what this new village means is that the 150 people problem already happened and these people won't be as kind, but do have their own scientist. Thus, Why-Man.

I guess at this point everything we assume about treasure island is pretty much random guessing.
The best we know is they are very likely descendants of the astronauts, so they might know the 100 tales and stuff, and they (or at least one of them) let's their children float away to most likely die. Their tech level, population size or anything else is pretty arbitrary. Though if they are 'smart' one might wonder why they stick to the island.

Also, I'm a bit on the fence about that Dunbar's number story. Arguing about whom to revive next has very little to do with it and if you plan to revive everyone it's a moot point anyway. You just wanted to sneak in some more 'science', didn't you?

Yeah, not much to say here. Maybe the weird idea that a lost child could be a spy (though, apparently he remembers what the island looked like???), or Senku's strange way to advertise his medicine... but mostly I wonder what will happen on the island.

Following the formula that Dr. Stone has set for itself, this is looking like an interesting arc. Obviously the plan to make infinite de-stoning liquid was never going to happen but this new wrinkle is especially interesting.

The other really bad bit here is that there's clearly some breakage and stuff. Whoever is on this island is...not as good at petrifying people as the first person. And it'll be harder to revive them again.

I'm not sure the breakage is to do with the petrifiers... not sure how much the others statues could endure but the only damaged ones seem to be those fallen over.
But we know they can revive statues that have been broken into tiny pieces, so I don't think Captain will lose his arm.. Even if it was kind of cool.

Now that we've had the surprisingly and incredibly dark scene of our heroes being frozen into stone, potentially even killed as a result depending on how bad that shattering is...it's time for wacky science and goof ass characters again. I do like this series, even if it is weird when it comes to tone.

To be honest, I don't think there has ever been an event I have taken serious, though I will admit it's something I struggle with with most media today. Stone just shifts between more or less hilarious, and the petrification is no different because I know they'll fix it.

But man, those are mad detective skills. Did Senku deduce gender from a finger print? That's better than modern tech.

To be honest I don't quite recall what I meant last week. I think it's more "oh that's what is going on on the island okay".

Anyway this week two of the pages didn't load oops. We get enough information to know the basics of it; two people who seem like they have un-petrification wounds found the weapon that petrifies people and are using it to take control of the Soyez capsule descendants. The rule of "don't make new things or leave the island" is interesting because of what it implies.

And then we hit the ****ty part of this manga, because a lot of the girl designs have been very bad as a sort of general rule in this series, and the artist for it used to do porn so that's to be expected, but now we're at a "time to make Kohaku look hot for this harem" which is just nonsense because she doesn't look noticeably worse than anyone else in this series. Also just the general idea that the lady petrifyer won't be defeated by a woman's looks so they need a strong woman to handle her.

I think it'd be hilarious if it turned out she was a lesbian and the guy was gay and instead of picking Kohaku they pick Amarylis and somehow spot Senku and pick him.

Well, I assume it's pretty likely whoever is in charge is some anti-progress person, likely descendant of some eco-terrorist who wanted to stop people from destroying the world. That's why they petrified everyone and now keeps the survivors isolated to the island. At least that's my guess. How much is still known to the current rulers apart from tradition remains to be seen, though I guess someone knows how to work a radio.

The petrification is getting weirder... Like, what is this, a flash bang? Are we ever getting a decent explanation on that?

As I said, this cuteness thing makes little sense... But if it gets played for laughs I guess I can live with it. Just don't expect me to take you serious next time you 'kill' someone, comic.
