2e style potions as from BG/IWD done in 3.5
I wanted to represent those juicy potions from the baldur's gate and icewind dale games in 3.5, but they didn't quite grok with 3.5 potions. However, we already have an alternative: the "elixirs" from the DMG (one-use wondrous items in drinkable form).
I'm not sure how to price some of them, but here is the list of ones that don't replicate an existing spell effect.
"master thievery" +5 competence bonus sleight of hand/open lock/disable device
"cat burglary" +5 competence bonus balance/hide/move silently (made this one up; replaces "hiding" & "sneaking")
"vision" +10 search checks (already exists, added it in)
"elf senses" +5 competence bonus listen & spot, & grants low-light vision (potion of infravision, added some skill bonuses to round them out)
"acrobatics" +5 competence bonus climb/jump/tumble
-all 250gp, all last 1 hour
"perception" +2 insight bonus to all dex/wis checks & search/disable device
-6 hours?
"clarity" immunity to mind-affecting effects except morale bonuses
"absorption" immunity to electricity damage (energy immunity spell, but 10 min not 24 hours)
-also DR 15/slashing or piercing?
-600gp
"invulnerability" +5 resistance bonus to AC & Saves
"magic shielding" DR 10/"mundane"
"mirrored eyes" immunity to gaze attacks
-I think in-game, these would last about 10 minutes; not sure
edit: forgot these two
"oil of fiery burning" 5d6 fireball, thrown up to 60ft
"oil of explosions" 6d6 burst fireball + explosive meta-magic, thrown up to 60ft
I really don't know what to do about the giant strength potions, but here are the relevant values.
