Malak uses divine life, looking the way of the disturbance, and now gripping the scroll tightly in both arms. Also, greater aura of serendipity is still running for friend and foe alike.

Khwaja Malak's gaze comes to rest directly where the faux priest is. "You are in ill health. Surrender or be destroyed."

The invisibility did its job for the most part; none of the blasters in the party could get a bead on the 'priest". In fact, the only thing he hadn't accounted for was Goma's preternatural nose, as he was able to determine where he was via scent and smacked him with his shield. The blow knocked him back, breaking his concentration on the invisibility. As he flew back, the miter he wore fell as well, breaking his illusionary disguise.

The being that floats above you is a lithe man with reddish skin. The more educated of you recognize him as a janni, like the one you fought back in Kelmarane all those months ago. He has a wicked scimitar once again sheathed at his side and you can see he's been better. The miter we wore must have been the source of his disguise, as now it looked like a simple hat rather than the ostentatious look of before. He's clearly furious, but it's being held under control. "You weren't supposed to get this far! You were supposed to get the scroll and get killed by the gnolls. You don't know what you're messing with. The Scroll of Kakishon will be mine!"

And with that, he vanishes into the ether, phasing himself to one of the elemental planes. The crypt is now silent, save for the sounds of the unconscious gnolls and your own thoughts. What did he mean by that? You may never know, but the important thing is that the day is saved. The remaining gnolls flee the complex and you are, with a moderate amount of difficulty, able to ferry the slaves you rescued back to Kelmarane, though it takes you about a week due to the slower speed of the tired ex-slaves.

As soon as you were past the main mountain range, Goma took his leave, as he had a date to the north. With great haste he ran towards Iemos, a glade on the other side of the mountains. The trees and grass are peaceful, but the fear in Goma's gut that he may be too late is anything but. As he arrived. he sought in vain to find her, worry chewing a whole in him as every second he didn't see here brought thought after thought of what could have gone wrong. Did she get caught and dragged off before she could escape? Did she injure herself on the trip over the mountain and get stranded? Did she really meet some other guy and to eat good food, get a place and @#$% all night?

But the fear evaporated into sudden joy as he saw her, sleeping behind a rock, tears on her face as she was no doubt having much of the same worries as he; As soon as he gets near her, her eyes snap open, clearly expecting danger even here in this peaceful glen. The two embraced, joy surging through them. They ended up staying in the meadow for a few days before heading back, content that even in the crazy world they lived in that they had each other. And it turns out that sometimes that's enough.

Indeed, life goes on. Rowan was back in time for his wife Adilade to deliver a beautiful baby girl, and the village continued to thrive. Yet, despite all the joy, unanswered questions still hung over the party. What did the Janni's warnings mean? What was the deal with this scroll? Was there deeper meaning in it's writings? There's much to think about, but for right now, the party has earned some well-deserved rest. Whatever it the future holds, they will face it head on, no matter what it brings.

Khwaja Malak steps over to the simple hat. He thinks a second, picks it up, dusts it off a few times. "I have a pretty good idea what this is. If it is okay, and if my hunch is correct, this is perfect for me. Anybody object?"

On the road, I verify it is a hat of disguise. Does anyone think they want it more than the party face?

The Water Prince thinks its an interesting item, but he isn't as enthused as Malak seems to be. So, sure, he's fine with him having a pretty hat.
