Edit2: WAIT!!!! I Forgot the +2 CL from that bonus he got!

Total check is an 18. Probably still not enough, but I need DM adjudication. I just have to hit 11+ his CL. So, if his CL for the effect is only 7, that's still a successful counterspell!
