"How many people on the teams, do you know?" It's as even as possible, she knows that. But she'd like to know other stuff. She's usually only played as a family.

Jack is standing here, waiting for... They never actually introduced themselves. A lizardy man. Jack's realised they haven't actually been properly introduced, but she's still here; the date was arranged and she's not been on one before, so she was looking forward to it. And hasn't quite realised names are usually traded before this point.

The lizard Man, which i didn't gave a name so far since he never had to tell anyone, will arrive soon after. He is dressed very warm, wearing a long jacket, gloves and a scarf.
"Hey." he says as he waves. "Nice you came."

Santa Throne

The black cat settles her head on her paws while perched on the other arm. The wolf, however, sits up to sniff the boy, in the process pressing a wet nose into his backside.

Wenomir's arm reaches out idly to pet the cat. He's fairly sure Koshal knows who he is, but he has to keep up appearances for anyone who might be watching.

"So what would you like for Thanksmas?"

The wolf will be instinctively swatted by Koshal’s tail, but after that his reaction will be quite automatic, reaching down to stroke the canine’s head and ears without even looking.
”Well, my Rifle was eaten my a monster last year. Mister Dipsnig told me that I would do well with a crossbow but I Uh, that’s not a thing to ask Santa for, is it?” he asks, unsure.

Wenomir doesn't look too certain of his answer either.

"Well, that depends. Will you use it properly, carefully and for a just cause?"

That feels like the right thing to say for now.

Meanwhile......

Fel sits by the big tree, sipping cocoa from a mug.

Leah grows very still and stiff. She reminds herself not to reach over and break Rachel's fingers or anything. But she's also a little excited. It's been a while since she had a worthwhile enemy.
"I might believe they were on a secret mission. I wouldn't believe them about the dangerous truths."

She walks off, brushing past the Skellington-costume catgirl in pursuit of the other one, with the cute sweater.
"Leah, would you kindly tell me what's going on with your sister, why she's pretending not to know me?"

By this time catgirl Leah had her hands wrapped around a mug of hot cocoa complete with tiny marshmallows. She stares directly into Leah's eyes, sipping calmly at her beverage. "She's from the future," Leah tells Leah nonchalantly after a few moments of silence.

The wolf happily accepts petting, being rather unconcerned with tail slaps.

If anyone's listening closely, though, they might hear the cat laugh under her breath, although she doesn't move.

By this time catgirl Leah had her hands wrapped around a mug of hot cocoa complete with tiny marshmallows. She stares directly into Leah's eyes, sipping calmly at her beverage. "She's from the future," Leah tells Leah nonchalantly after a few moments of silence.

Leah's eyes are as always concealed behind mirrored sunglasses. But I imagine they're the same bright blue they usually are, and looking right at Leah.
"Oh, she really is? Thanks." At the future and at a boundary. Their future must have been able to come from a variety of pasts, and Rachel is avoiding any slightly paradoxical things. She wonders if it's too late to change the present and erase Rachel from history. Probably if she were going to do that it would already have to happen and she'd never have met Rachel? Are they in a doomed timeline right now?
"Anything I can do for you in this present?"

"That makes a lot of sense. Which fort are we defending?" Hopefully the one Pookie's building. If not, well... That may be a little problematic.

"Of course I came. Why wouldn't I? My name's Jack, by the way." She smiles, quite happy to see him. She's not dressed up warm. She's wearing a mid-thigh-length green skirt, matching sleeveless tunic, with pointy-toed high-heel shoes, making her a little wobbly. She's also got a red Santa hat on, covering her short black hair- she's added a few black feathers to it, so she looks more exotic- or think she does, at least. Her clothing was inspired by a Christmas Elf's, and it's worked quite a lot.

Koshal nods. "A Good knight is always careful, just and proper." he insists.

[Morty]

[Snowball Fight]

"Uh... that one. Not the one Pookie is working on." Brinika points towards a smaller fort that is being built slower. "Can you tell him to move over? We need help with it anyway."

[Santa's Throne]

"Then let's see if the bag has a weapon worthy of a knight."

Santa Wenomir reaches into the bag, and produces... a heavy crossbow of black, lacquered wood. It doesn't seem to have a string, but the levers are there.

"Interesting. Try to pull it, young one."

Koshal nods excitedly and pulls back the crossbow using the lever.
Black is a very nice color for a weapon. Black is the color of all of Lady Danir's weapons.

When the lever is pulled, the crossbow's arms retract... and suddenly, a string appears between them, ready for a bolt.

"Practical," Santa Wenomir says. "It saves you the effort of drawing the string."

While most people were here to be merry, Iamar is just here to watch people. She isn't dressed festively at all, although at least she left her sword at home.

She looks between everyone near her. She admits that she's never really understood this holiday, but it seemed nice enough.

The cat manages to pick her head up. Does Santa's bag happen to contain any catnip whisky? I believe it's sold as Cat Nap. And some dog bones, of course. She pauses. Also,
please make sure you're pointing that thing away from me.

Koshal gives Santa-Wen a big hug.
"Thank you, Santa." he declares.
Faye however, who has been waiting patiently behind the throne for Koshal to finish, plops down in front of them and begins keening at the mention of dog bones.

Wenomir hugs Koshal back, awkwardly, and... did that cat just talk?

"I have no idea. But since this youngster has got his gift, maybe you can... and his dog as well, I suppose."

It's probably not too late to erase Rachel from history but Leah better hurry. Time in the Nexus is a formidable opponent. "You can not tell anyone," Leah requests. "That's the only thing I can think of at the moment."

"Yeah, right." He replies. he could come up with a thousand reasons for her to not show up, but he can keep himself silent about that.
"I'm Jaxl, nice to meet you oh and you got a nice Christmas Elf costume there. With a few unique additions."

Iamar will find herself approached by a tall, slim but athletic tiefling. He has dark brown skin and red eyes, as well as black hair, cut short at the sides of his head by somewhat longer at the top. He also has a short stubble on his cheeks. His tiefling features are a pair of short, curved horns on his forehead, a long tail and red eyes. He's wearing a red coat lined with white, as befits the season. He bows formally to Iamar.

"Merry Thanksmas to you. Although you look as unfamiliar with it as I once was."

Cheasadh nods and goes over to where Pookie works. "Come on, you. Work on this one, it's smaller. And we'll be defending it, too. So it's helpful all around." Pookie is easily pulled away, and waves at the goblins he was helping as he goes. He helps quite eagerly when he arrives, and Cheasadh helps too, directing him and joining in.

"I'm glad you like it. And the feathers, too. My own, of course. Jaxl's a nice name." Jack smiles. "Where are we going for a meal? Or do you have something else planned? I've not had a date before, so I'm not sure on the etiquette." She's quite young, and the Clattering does things slightly differently to humans.

The snow walls pile up as the goblins work. Tuskfang joins them after a moment, Reelshka having taken his new floating rock for safekeeping. Brinika surveys what they've built.

"I think we need something fancier than just a wall. Got any ideas, Cheasadh? Maybe if we've got a non-goblin in our team, the others won't see it coming."

"Castles have crenellations. You know, bits where they stick up higher than the rest around it, so archers and defenders can hide behind them whilst they reload or to avoid arrows or whatever. Maybe some of those? But we'd have to duck to grab new snowballs anyway, so... Hmm." And it might not be practical, because being snow, they would be easier to push over onto defenders than usual. Or, potentially, attackers.

Iamar looks at the tiefling for a moment. Were this a few years ago, she'd have been near-frightened by him, but she knew better now. She returns the bow towards him.

"This is not the first I have heard of Thanksmas, but I've never made any effort to attend the ceremony. It is... strange. So garish. But I suppose if you got used to it, I can as well. You are not of the Nexus either?"

[Morty]

Brinika thinks deeply. Castles... castles look cool.

"Even if it's not useful, it'll look cool. So maybe we should do it."

[By the Tree]

"I've been here for a while, but I come from a land called Moran-Ir, originally," the tiefling says. "My name is Fayyaad ibn Haashid al-Zafar. But just Fayyaad is fine, if you find that too long. It is garish, but charming in its own way."

"It will look cool. Let's do it." Cheasadh gets to work adding crenellations to the snow-fort they are building, trying to make them tall enough to hide everyone in the team without them needing to duck.

Pookie just continues packing snow into the fort, primarily making sure it's wide enough to support the height Cheasadh adds.

Iamar blinks at the full name. In all her time in the Nexus, she had never heard a name with the same structure as her own. "Iamar ibnat Hasna al-Shalhoub. I am unfamiliar with Moran-Ir. I hail from the city of Damascus." She looks up at the tree, in all its color. "If everyone here enjoys it, who am I to tell them otherwise?"

[Morty]

"Do gnomes build castles?" Brinika asks Cheasadh as they work. "I've only ever seen castles in books."

[By the Tree]

"Indeed... and yet, our names sound very similar, don't they? And you look much like people back home," Fayyaad observes. "If the Nexus does connect to so many world, perhaps this is a coincidence that will eventually happen."

"I had thought something similar - though, there are no tieflings in my home. Or, truth be told, much of any of the peoples I have seen since my arrival in the Nexus." Iamar nods. "Eventually, yes. I've had to grow accustomed to everything here - the different languages especially. I have a hard time finding anything written in my own tongue."
