I went 1/11, but that one was exactly what I hoped for: Rinoa CSB. That'll pair beautifully with Edea BSB to raise my Ice game.

With that, I think I'm done with the fest. 2 chains (Rinoa & Ingus), 3 solid USBs (Selphie, Penelo, and Cloud of Darkness), 2 OSBs (Tifa and Papa), and a whole bunch of decent BSBs. (Arc 1, Edward, Fran, Maria, Guy, and Rydia). All that for just 175 mythril, and I've still got plenty to throw at the OK banners.

Banner 4: come on, no snow!
2/11, 1 disco. Shantotto's LMR (nah), and Kain Chain! Ooooh, neato.

Edit: and the first GL sub-30 is down. Hydra fell to:

Eiko: Curada, Shellga, BSB, MM
Galuf: Meteor Crush, Gaia Rush, USB, LMR, DMT

Ingus summons wall, Galuf drops the USB, Eiko shells then bursts. Shelke entrusts to Ingus on turn 3 so the chain goes up. Meanwhile, Tifa launches meteor crushes to build gauge and cap 2x9999. From there, Galuf self-buffs and spams rush to help the chain and deal a ton of damage, Shelke keeps entrusting to Tifa, and Tifa uses the SSB every turn.

There are a lot of goodies on B4 that I want but I’m being completely honest the one relic I was chasing on this banner was Shantoto LMR.

100 gems - nothing.

50 mythril: 3/11 and two discos!
Rainbow! Come on Toto! A sword - not a gun blade. I don’t remember a sword user on this banner other than lightning or Squall (Desch BSB - upgrade for team III).

Disco 1: come on mage thrower - I’d love Rinoa’s Ice chain.
A glove? - Snow’s Ice chain it is. XIII continues to be seriously stacked.

Disco 2: a spear? Oh, Kain’s Chain? Physical lightning might now be as or even more scary than mage lightning team - that is an element Im now very strong with. I could wield two different A+ worthy lightning teams.

So very good pull - first relic for snow, massive upgrades for the other two. Didn’t get what I want but won’t pull again.

Leaving fests (baring the special sixth banner thing being good) with mixed results. Some nice good toys but nothing which really redefined my metas. My mage lightning team are beasts - so having a physical team which is as beastly isn’t as big. My mage Ice team is still stronger than my physical side on the whole. Papalymo is a strong replacement for Vincent - he wasn’t really impressing me even with his usb and bsb.

Though it IS a BSB for Squall at least, but I really needed Lightning more than I needed Ice.

Well, banner 4 is up, and it's 2/11 for me, one dupe.

The dupe is Lightning's BSB2, Enkindler. Combo fodder. A bit disappointing.

But the other? Squall's Axis Blade BSB. Oh yes. I have waited for this. Squall's is now the King of Ice.

Overall? Not too disappointing. Not at all.

Eiko sets up the crit boost, Ramza tosses a single wrath to Bartz on turn 3, then both supporters toss all their bars to Balthier. He spams the imperiling skill until the entrusts happen, then it's cyclotrons until someone dies. The imperils and crit boosts are what make this work- critting for 90K instead of 60K is huge, and in my winning run it only happened once- so I think it's a sustainable sub-30 run.

Next try is Bismarck, with Kain/Lightning and dual entrusters. That one could be much dicier.

The LMR (ATK buildup when hit) at least combines nicely with the LM2 (init-Sentinel). There aren't a lot of situations that that strikes me as especially valuable in, but I guess if you were using Raines & Hope for your DPS rather than other knights, it'd be a way to bring WoL up to the soft cap without needing additional boostgas. Pretty honkin' niche though.

Unrelatedly, they stealth-added a CM to the Limelit Stage event this morning: 3 Major Summon orbs for bringing Edward with to the final fight. They'll probably get an announcement up about it at some point, but it's worth going back if you've already beaten the event. I myself have finally caught up, so it's back to dailies and magicite for a bit.

Hey guys, happy new year. This festival is ending soon, and since others already made their reviews, let me see what I got:

LD 1 -Vanille's SSB

Overall, banners weren't very interesting for me. Cloud finally got a relic, and can be a reserve on team Wind for Zidane or Freya. The other "big" gains were Rapha's BSB and Sabin's OSB (Sabin is my physical blink guy).

My A team saw a few changes, but still on the same general principle. Ramza and Eiko still provide Shout and Prayer from the Lost, while Auron's USB and Vaan's BSB atempt to reduce enemy's magic and armor to the debuff cap. Firion, Sabin or Curilla act as 5th man, depending if I need AOE damage, Magic/Physical Blink or HP% heal + Esuna.

But for some battles, Mog has been my support of choice. The new Dance that Breaks ATK and MAG is very useful, and with his BSB, that's 3 layers of Physical mitigation, quite fast.

Against Apoc+ Vinuskar, Mog and Vaan turned his attacks manageable, Vanille used her USB (preventing those nasty debuffs), while Gabranth and Raines made minced meat. Victory without using a single Mythril, yay.

Against Shemhazai, out went Gabranth and Raines, in came Delita and Shantoto with their BSB's. OHOHOHOHO. Sure, it worked because of excellent RS weapons on XII (Delita had 633 base atk), so I could dispense with Shout.

FF6 event tonight with Terra tech, and Locke Chain + Strago BSB on banner 2. Also interesting: Strago's LD should come out tonight. Strago's LM2 grants a 25% chance to cast a 30% AoE heal after taking damage. If you're going to use Strago, this is as great as it sounds. It's a free, stat-independent medica that will likely outheal a cura BSB. The downside, of course, is that it's a % chance to trigger, but in a normal fight, you should see it 2-3 times on average.

Mist Dragon is sub-30'd by team Shadow. Dualcasted, chained shadow embodied followed by USB=9999x10. And it's nearly instant thanks to the USB + ninja speed. Heck, even Seymour's capping 4x Dark Zone on mist. Poor Raines was 3rd place in damage dealing.

Odd as this sounds, I find myself needing healer tech more than anything else now.

If it had come out a year ago sure. Nowadays, does anything work with Sentinel effects anymore? Feels like attacks either target multiple people, or are "NAT" so that they avoid both Draw Fire and Magic Lure.

Braska USB - it's not bad, I guess, but Braska is kind of an awkward character to use, and without a BSB those summons won't go far
Deuce USB - this actually looks pretty strong. Only downside is that Deuce will pretty much never get synergy/CM credit, meaning she's always competing against perennial A-Team member and recent LD recipient Eiko. Still, if I ever got her burst, she could actually pose a threat with this.
Agrias USB - Nice! Agrias is already a core member of Team Holy with her imperil burst. A bigger stick is always welcome.
Earth Banner: (4/11)
Ingus Chain: it's a chain, chains are good. This will probably kick Dorgann off Team Earth once I get him levelled.
Tifa BSB2: A bit of an improvement over her BSB1, which I had. Though lifesiphon up two bars, and I can get the en-earth from bsb1 and the imperil from this working together, plus the better commands on this one. Could be pretty sweet.

Water/Air Banner: (2/11)
Zack BSB: Decent enough - I had Zack's apocalypse, but it was pretty much useless in the face of Red XIII's USB. This also helps my somewhat limited physical wind team, though I was hoping for Cloud's BSB2 to go along with it. My biggest problem with wind is that I've got all these guys with decent wind SBs that can't use any decent wind abilities.
Kimahri USB: Not really sure what to make of this. If it also gave out a Hastega, it would be amazing. If Kimahri had Support 5, I could forget about Wakka, bring Paine for Hastega, Tidus and Rikku for hurting people, and have a pretty darn scary X team. As it is, I'm not quite sure how to squeeze this in, but it's good enough (in addition to his BSB) that I finally bit the bullet and LB3'd him. Soon enemies all over Spira will be trembling at the sight of his 'Attack Becomes Jump' capstone RM.
Ice/Lightning Banner: (2/11)
Lightning's USB: I already have both BSBs and OSB, so this is pretty sweet. Her main limitation is that most of my other good lightning stuff is magic-based, so I have a hard time fitting a physical user who doesn't bring much utility to the table in. Still this certainly is scary looking.
Lenna BSB2: Meh. I don't even really think this should have been on the banner.

Total: 225 mithril spent, 4 dupes, 4 new BSBs, 5 USBs, 1 Chain

What else on the horizon? I managed to work my way back up to 50 mithril just now, and I'm eying that VI-1 banner. It's been a while since Terra was competitive with her burst, I wouldn't mind some of those fancy new toys for her.

Do you have any sage boosts? Mog's BSB and Yuna's BSB2 are really helpful. Also, omnibreak effects and very esoteric breakdowns like Shelke's Atk/Mind breakdown help. Also, consider using a Mog USB as the RW.

Another fest is over. Time to ask: what crazy stuff is worth looking toward? With the benefit of foresight:

-Next week: OK USB event: top-level physical and sage boosts.

-~5 weeks: TGC USB: Self critical=100%, atk +50%, and cast knight or darkness abilities twice. Also on the banner is Marche's USB.

February (?) 4* Magicites: you died.

-March: 3rd anniversary! Introduces a bunch of things:
1. Tyro USB3: Wall plus hastega plus proshellga. Your RW for all event content.
2. Flash techs: instant cast SBs that take 1/2 of a bar to use. Usually do something like en-element stacking a la Seph USB. Limited to 3 uses per fight.
3. UOSBs: two varieties. One is 3 overflow hits for about 1.5-2x OSB damage. The other is 20 weak hits followed by one big overflow. Limited to one use per fight, takes 1.5 bars to cast.
4. Yuffie USB2: notable because it is awesome. En-water plus grants a water chase after ninja skills. LD her for dualcast ninja, and watch the carnage.
For Anniversary, we should see a special series draw happen over a two week span: each day, do a 3-pull for 5 myth, G5, pool for one realm at a time. Plus, there should be a free 33-pull, G6, with a second pull for 50 myth. Oh, and a free LD with basically everything SSB+, but you get to pick a 3-pack of OSB/BSB/healer SSB from a single realm. For example, if you pick II, you get Firion's BSB, OSB, and Minwu's SSB.

DU revamp should hit around this time too. Changes include a fixed RW list depending on difficulty level, better rewards, and stamina refreshes will overflow and stack up to 999.

-May: Library of Guidance, mentioned up thread. Also, A++ is introduced to events. Jump up in difficulty, but not as big a gap as the first A+ was. Lastly, a new story dungeon type and new UI.

-June: JP's Xmas fest, introducing two new effect types: mega chains, which go to 150 with a bigger field effect (Gilgamesh gets one! Relics for Gilgamesh!), and regenga, which delivers fixed heals every few seconds for a short duration: I think Elarra's heals 2000 HP every 3.5 seconds for 15 seconds. Series 3-pulls return as well, plus JP got a free 8-pull, with 1 6* relic and 7 5* relics.

-Late June, early July: Barbariccia, adult Palom/Porom event. P. Cecil gets a USB2: Wall! Plus an ex mode that heals the front row 1500 HP every time he uses a knight skill. I suspect that if you combine that with a Marche-powered quick cast, things get nuts.
Torment dungeons will end, and new ones will appear. The devs have hinted that new 6* skills are also coming.

Finally! The Fire Goddess banner has landed at last! Here, ladies and gents, is where my Mythril stash goes to die. A shame as awesome OK banner and THE SECOND COMING OF THUNDER GOD RELICS are underway, as well as Water Pick-Up and DU Lucky Draw. I resolved to make a daily draw as much as I could since the Banner appeared, with today coincidentally being the Three Kings' Day where I live (aka, the Magi, aka, round 2 of gifts for children), so I hope I wasn't a naughty boy.

Day 1 (1/4) - 1/11, one Disco!!![*]Locke's Platinum Dagger! ...Ok, the least of the Discos I was looking for. Still doesn't invalidate his Burst, as it's the only source he has for Fire damage. It just makes his Imperil duties a tad more fun. Not very excited, tho.

Day 2 (1/5) - 1/11, one Disco!!! NO DUPES!!! ...ohboyohboyohboy...[*]Terra's Apocalypse!!! Finally, the Overstrike I longed for such!!! With her En Fire and full LD, she can deal a whopping amount of damage. EEEEEEEE!!!

Day 3 (1/6) - 1/11, 1 Disco!!! ...but it's a dupe. Three tries to which was the dupe, and the first four don't count.

...so yeah, I still got about 43 Mythril, so there's enough for one more pull, if I don't pull for anything else. I hoped that my friend delivered a karmic gift, but he seems to have forgotten.

...any of you guys willing to send a gift card as a belated Christmas gift? As it stands, I don't see any chances that I'll get the remaining stuff...

(Oh, and on a more positive note; last year left us with the gift of electric power on my house. No Internet other than on my phone, tho.)

Guardian 220 multiplayer defeated!


Took my regular group 25 minutes in our victory fight. We miiiiight lean a bit heavily on turtlestrats.

Damage: Ashe (lightning BSB), Celes (Indomitable blade eating flares to recharge lightning quadstrike), and Lightning (Imperil)
Support: Rikku (Hyper Mighty G, and then Multi-break and Enfeebling Tango)
Healing: Aerith, Aerith, Eiko (Yummy last stand for when something goes wrong), and Yshtola (Stoneskin II)

I'd say we had too much healing, but there were def times we needed it.

We are SO not trying Orthros.

Edit: That middle phase where Guardian was lightning resistant was such a slog... My Ashe's attacks went from 20,000 per turn to 6,000, so I busted out Flare for 10,000. Still a slog.
