Mason, tired after the fight, goes to the hut. "It's odd how the guards that we saw earlier didn't have any food, best to check this out before returning empty-handed..."

Snar waives a hand to make his ectoplasmic beast walk towards the cabin. About the time it got close, it shriveled back into a puddle of silver goo and disappeared.

"Same thing happened to a snowman I made as a wee one." Snar said surprisingly earnestly.


In response to the guards being hungry, Snar scoffed and said, "If they're so hungry they can eat vomit covered spider. Guess that's yet ANOTHER reason NOT to coat everything we fight in VOMIT!" He just started walking around in frustrated little circles, grumbling about smells and teamwork and having to save ungrateful vomiters. Poor little guy is clearly crazy and might just have a stroke if he doesn't watch his stress management.

[Strigon]

Nothing happens to Snar's creature as it approaches the hut. All is quiet throughout the forest until it disappears; it seems the way to the hut is clear - though you can't be sure the building itself is.

As you're standing around, however, you notice the spider's corpse is changing. It's a very slow process, but its legs are shrinking inward, and its body is getting thinner. You can't yet make out what it's turning into, but it's giving no indications of still being alive.

Guys? Take a look! The spider is in motion - or there's something inside of it... come out come out, whatever you are the last part he sung to himself. He looked closer, and cast a spell for clarification.

The spider - or the thing that used to be a spider - has no magical aura.

Snar runs over and stabs it in the head a bunch of times. "Double tap tap."

"You people are like squirrels! No running off all willy nilly silly hilly billy."

[Strigon]

Snar's hand feels that the surface is somewhat fleshy, and unlike the hard exoskeleton one would expect from a spider. He also sees that the ends of the legs are turning into what appear to be hands or feet - all in all, it's appearing more humanoid by the minute.

[Fliggl]

Okay... What is this here? The spider turns into a human or what?
Guðleifur readies an lesser orb of acid to shoot at the thing after it transforms and turns hostile - if it comes back to live.

[Strigon]

The transformation continues at its slow, steady pace. The body gives no indications of life or unlife, and has now been going on for almost two minutes.

Snar continues to repeatedly stab the thing in the head as it's shape changes. He offered, "I heard shapeshifters sometimes turn back into their original thing they should have been in the first place when they die." and went right on back to his stabbing. It's probably going to be hard to identify the thing with a mutilated head.

Unfortunately, none of you can put a name to the creature before you. By this point, however, it looks like a fairly normal human woman. Late 40s, with a long, loose, plain black robe on. Snar's onslaught has rendered her face unidentifiable, however.
If there's anything peculiar about her, it seems to have been damaged beyond recognition in the battle.

Guðleifur, knowing not too much about the human anatomy, feels kind of sad, because this spider-woman needs help - he guesses. Nothing a good healer can't fix he thought.

MEDIC! he shouted in Masons direction

Aye? Mason said, coming back towards the party. Observing the body-- "Yup, that'll need help" he says, healing the body, definitely far faster than snar could poke it.

The Door shrugs. He never quite understood the meaning of death. Maybe they could repair her. Maybe they had to replace her face or something. He didn't know. He didn't care.
"I want to take a look at this house, who's with me?"

[Brian_Gishlover]

Snar simply looked appalled by the attempt at healing the dead woman. "Do you mind sir?
I'm trying to make sure it doesn't come back to life and you're over here healing it!!" He huffed. "Well if it tries to kill you I'm not saving you ... again."

He grumbled to himself, wandering around mumbling in irritation. "Is it a cult? No too scattered and too clingy to life. Seems improbable they would just all decide to die and then live randomly." He seems to be clinging to the idea that the group is suicidal "and ungrateful!" he added out of nowhere.

[Strigon]

At first, it doesn't look like the healing is having any effect. Slowly, however, the bits of bone and muscle Snar carved away were replaced, eventually fully reconstructing the face and skin of the creature. By this time, the transformation seems to have finished.

With a casual inspection, the woman looks perfectly average - a closer inspection, however, reveals two things. First, her face is utterly expressionless. Not merely a neutral face; it seems to lack any emotion, anywhere, and almost looks as though it could never show any. Unfortunately, you can't tell just by looking whether this is a result of the magical reconstruction, or the creature's natural appearance.

Secondly, hidden within the creature's mouth are a set of fangs, set above and in front of her front teeth, looking quite vicious.

Huh, a human I suppose. Very well then, let's ask the guards if they've seen anything of the like. Mason says, curiously eyeing the creature.

The body scans as evil, but quickly fading with each passing moment.

"Human? Really? You know a lot of humans with fangs? And why is everyone so interested in the guards? They're looking over a little spot of beautiful nothingness in a forest. Let's get back to our holy quest of helping the fat man find more food! WHO'S WITH ME?!!!" and with that, he started running away while waving for everyone to follow.

It's worth noting that he runs faster than most humans despite being small. His legs swish past each other in a comical looking blur. If you were being honest with yourself, you might admit you were hoping he would just keep running.

The Door stood in the forest and was confused.
"I thought we'd take a look at the house."
He shrugs and looks to Mason.
"What will you do Doc?"

Ah -- go to the house, and take the body. If it moves, tie it up. I'll have to examine it later Mason said, wary of the odd magic

Joe is still stealthily moving toward the hut.

He is +3 to Spot trouble.

Noted, but nothing happens as Joe approaches the hut.
Heading towards it, he can now make out more details; it's circular, 30 feet across, and about as tall - though it has a conical roof. It seems to have been made from materials found on-hand, and made without any particular skill or care. The area around it has been cleared of trees and bushes for about 15 feet, and in the clearing you can see a number of corpses - the freshest is a large deer, crushed to death. It seems to be the same one Trinity had been chasing. There are others, though, mostly decomposed and skeletal; primarily deer, but there are one or two humanoids as well.
The hut itself has one door that you can see, but also several openings scattered roughly every 1/5 of its circumference; there's a semi-circular opening 2 1/2 feet across right on the ground, and a 5 foot circular opening directly above it, just where the walls meet the roof. This pattern extends all along the building.

You're right on the edge of the clearing, as close as you can be while still in some form of cover. Your party is about 40 feet away.

Guðleifur let fizzle his readied spell and walked over to Joe. This women wasn't interesting any longer. But a hut in the woods? Let's take a look!

[Brian_Gishlover]

"Don't go troubling trouble if trouble isn't troubling you!" Snar said pointing around to all of the corpses. "Something here as killed a lot of things, so let's not be next." He said in a loud whisper. His body half turned walking back to the trail and away from the hut.

"It is better if you stick to the others if you don't want to end like one of them, little Imp" The Door says to Snar. Then he wanders off, slowly, towards the hut, keeping close to the Doc.

Whatever you're facing snar, be sure to defeat it without killing. I should still be able to question these survivors
