I realize that it may be too late to help, but the Zenith is the real star of those three. Infinite punchthrough on the altfire mode.

All of those are solid performers. The Tigris is the shotgun you pull out when you want to pick up a whole 100000-square-foot brick mansion and bash something over the head with it. Sybaris does well for marksmen; very nice headshot potential. Soma is the king of spray-and-pray with its absurd crit chance and rate of fire. Quartakk is the least good of the option you've listed but still good in burst fire mode; you're usually going to be better off with burst as the automatic has a pretty low rate of fire.

If I recall correctly, Zousha is MR2 or 3, or thereabouts? They only mentioned hitting MR2 a little while ago and I don't remember much else.

Buying catalysts and reactors are, right now, not really a priority. When I was MR3, my collection of mods was pretty small and I didn't have Endo or credits spare in order to upgrade them, so you don't really *need* much space on your weapons until a little bit later.

My recommendation would be to look on the marketplace and see what weapons you can realistically buy in the near future, and then buy Nitain accordingly. I realise that I'm setting you homework, as you're probably going to end up switching between the marketplace and the wiki to see what you can afford versus what you can actually get hold of, and I'm sorry for that
However, stocking up on Nitain isn't going to help you if you can't afford the blueprints necessary to use it. Quite a lot of them come from being in a Clan (Wukong, Amesha, Zhuge, Destreza, etc) or are Prime parts, so if you don't have access to them then why worry?

My advice: Buy a few Nitain for 'emergencies' - 4 or so should be fine - then buy Vauban. You don't *need* Vauban, but having a decent pool of Warframes to choose from really brings the game to life and helps break up the experience, so its worth having him cooking - especially if you don't know where your next frame is coming from afterwards.
You don't know what it was like.
    You weren't there.
You never fought in the Console Wars.

Yeah, still at MR 2. I bought Vauban's component blueprints, that Corrosive Aura one and about 15 Nitains with the rest. Now I just need to do a rescue mission at Linea and unlock the Fossa boss battle so I can get to Mercury.

Further to mangosta's comments - the Tigris takes some getting used to, due to its duplex trigger - it's essentially a double barreled shotgun, except that it firrs the first barrel when you press fire then fires the second barrel when you release fire. I also highly recommend as much punchthrough as you can get on the weapon as it will overkill almost anything.

Other than that, you have a little ways to go for each these weapons; the Sybaris is MR5, Soma is MR6, Tigris is MR7 and the Quartakk is MR10 (plus only available when the Ghoul Purge event is on unless you pay platinum).

There are Prime versions (Orokin era versions of Tenno weaponry) of the Sybaris (MR12), Soma (MR7) and Tigris (MR13), although the Soma P and Tigris P are vaulted at the moment (the relics with their parts don't drop at the moment).

Edit: Oh look, Ghoul Purge is now on.

Endurance trumps damage output in arbitrations. Your enemies are not all that tough, so as long as you have a decent weapon you'll be okay. On the other hand, surviving an endless, increasingly more deadly horde without ever screwing up is tougher. Make sure you can take a punch, and make sure your build won't run out of resources.

Kill arbitration drones ASAP. Dive at them and end them, because their invulnerability aura can make things get out of hand.

If you have a team its more forgiving, since your allies can revive you - certain mission types (defense, excavation) are also going to be much more viable with a proper team and composition than done solo. If you roll solo, I recommend Survival arbitrations as your mission of choice. (Though note that you'll need to keep on top of your life support, its harder to keep maxed just by killing enemies in Arbitration).

If the random modifiers for the mission are already on a weapon or warframe you would consider using, go ahead and do so, but don't bring a frame or gun you're not comfortable with just for the arbitration buff.

Arbitrations: You only have one life so it's easier with a tanky frame. Usual suspects include Inaros, Chroma, Nidus, Trinity, Nekros, etc. Or untargetables like Loki, Ash, Ivara, etc. Heavy CC like Nova, Vauban, Mirage, Frost, Rhino, etc. do work fine too but of course they are a tad less forgiving (though e.g. Nova, Rhino, Nezha and company can be tanky while CC happy). Be careful with power-reliant invulnerability with Nullis and Combas/Scrambuses and Denial Bursas and such.

Tankiness is not a necessity of course; I've had great runs with Equinox, Saryn, Volt, etc. but the one-and-done nature of the mode makes it a bit painful in case you do make that one misstep or have to afk a moment or such.

One beam/AoE weapon that penetrates enemies for drones is nice. Ignis Wraith is the easy choice as well as high range AoE melee. Staticor, Catchmoon, Arca Plasmor, Synoid Simulor, Quanta Vandal, Pox, Torid, etc. are other decent options (there's probably more that I'm forgetting right now; AoE and big punchthrough are what you want, with range as a bonus). I suggest against self-damage except potentially minor ones like Concealed Explosives (useful for Chroma of course) due to the aforementioned "once and done"-nature of them (well, you can revive people nowadays in teams but it's a hassle and I don't think e.g. Soul Survivor works).

Other than that, big damage AoE weapon, good modding for the frame, and you can do more or less arbitrarily long runs solo or in teams (defense-type missions do have their own considerations rewarding something like Frost or Limbo of course). The bonuses hardly matter, though they can make for some absurd bonuses on some frame abilities. I fondly remember my +PS Mirage Survival runs.

Generally, I like running Nekros for Vitus Essence farming (since I mostly level and relevel stuff and play overall quite little nowadays, I tend to play very little in terms of arbitrations; just enough to grab the important bits). Shield of Shadows + Equilibrium + Despoil with like Vitality and Adaptation is more or less unkillable on Nekros Prime (Blind Rage is a must unless you have PS buff for proper Shield of Shadows). Oh yeah and always run Corrosive Projection. Enemy type doesn't even matter. Armor + Health scales multiplicatively so it gets dumb fast unless you have CPs (or some other way to strip armor, but generally CP has the lowest opportunity cost if you can get a squad to run it). Nidus is the endurance king nowadays due to the invulnerability in its passive.

Oh yeah and beware Host Migrations. Had some games nuked (0 reward nuked) by them.

EDIT: Oh yeah, in Disruption, you need some incredibly high damage single target weapon to blow up the demolysts. Generally a Condition Overload melee is probably the easiest choice due to it hitting everything and scaling nigh' infinitely.

For Defection, beware the fact that the rescue targets must live. CC frames are great here (and Interception as well; in fact, CC frames can trivialize both modes as you never need to kill anything there).

For Survival, you need to ensure a sufficient kill rate and a loot frame like Nekros/Hydroid [Pilfering Swarm]/Ivara really helps too. Nekros is probably the best of the bunch overall since it's zero effort and does its thing automatically.

For Defense, it's Sortie Defense (living moving defense target) except if the target goes down, it's game over, and it follows a player around (and you can't give it a weapon). So someone on shepherd duty and the usual Frost/Limbo/Volt/etc. defenses to prevent it from going down to a stray shot (of course, depends on enemy type too; Grineer and Infested can't interact with powers so you're kinda safe there but beware against Corpus/Corrupted). Excavation is similar except it's doubly important to have defense frames if you ever wanna get **** done (one per excavator). You should be doing multiple excavators as often as possible to not waste time.

No comment on Infested Salvage, never done an Infested Salvage Arbitration. Probably the same considerations as with Defense/Excavation though.

Nyx with Assimilate is amazingly good for Sortie Defense. Your speed is exactly the same as the idiot's, and the bubble is just big enough to cover him. And Nyx is one of the frames you can get pretty easily since her parts drop from Phorid invasions. Admittedly, I have a soft spot for Nyx since she was my first frame (other than my starter), but in the right hands she's damn good.

My usual go-to frames for Sorties are Hildryn or my defense/razorwing Titania. My best weapons are my arca plasmor, akarius and destreza prime.

Hildryn seems like she'd be a good option. Very tanky, aoe damage and some CC for emergencies. Doesn't do well against infested though.

Woohoo! I finally unlocked Fossa and beat the Jackal with a little help from some strangers! And now I've unlocked the Mercury Junction, visited a Relay for the very first time, and am almost to Mastery Rank 3! Now things are REALLY heating up in a very literal sense!

Once you figure out the trick, yeah. There's a rhythm to fighting him that lets you stagger lock him real easy with a decent Sniper Rifle or Shotgun. He basically never gets to attack.

Well, since bosses don't scale outside of sorties, eventually you just outclass him by virtue of sheer DPS. Sometimes if you're not in solo mode you'll see someone come back for rhino parts for whatever reason, and blow him away in a few hits. But the Jackals generally pretty simple. One of the easiest ways to take him out solo is just pop exalted blade, get under him, and spam melee until he dies, because you can hit the legs and body that way, stunlocking him.

He was the first thing I farmed in Warframe, and I was playing Mag with the...Strun, I think? For a frame of reference.

Rhino was the first new Frame I unlocked because he sounded cool, and I knew he was good because after I got really jealous of my other friends starting with Frames that are actually GOOD (three of us started playing at the same time; one picked Excalibur, the other picked Jolt, and I picked Mag to round things out) I looked up tier lists.

Finally made Mastery Rank 3, and have begun Once Awake, though the latest part of the quest is a Defense mission, which my Excalibur isn't quite equipped to solo.

I'm starting to find that I do love me some shotguns after all. The Bronco is a great little pocket shotgun!

When you've maxed your current Bronco, look into the AkBronco - double the shotguns, double the fun.

Note that you don't need to max out a weapon when you use it for a crafting component, so your second Bronco can be a fresh-out-the-foundry rank 0 one.

Bear in mind that he won't be getting either of those shotguns for a while (MR10 and MR7 respectively, MR13 for the Tigger P), so he may want set his sights a bit lower in the meantime.

I remember the first time I picked up a Boar and I had the biggest grin on my face for the longest time. It's not an amazing weapon, but by gods is it fun - the Terry Crews scene from The Expendables with the AA-12 is a fair representation.

The Hek shotgun is only MR4 and is a weapon that can get you through the entire starmap! It's a good idea to get a couple of really strong weapons early that you can reliably use for most of your career. Two unleveled weapons and a carry weapon was the kind of loadout I used for a long, long time...

"Reach down into your heart and you'll find many reasons to fight. Survival. Honor. Glory. But what about those who feel it's their duty to protect the innocent? There you'll find a warrior savage enough to match any dragon, and in the end, they'll retain what the others won't. Their humanity."

I'm sorry that I didn't join in - you caught me 5 minutes into a Survival mission as I was farming Relics and didn't see the message until 30 minutes later!

I'm not usually so ignorant, so if you need help another time please feel free to ask

[EDIT] In unrelated news, I just scraped together enough Ducats and blew them all on building the Paracesis.... 2 days before Baro appears. My timing is impeccable.

Oh, well.... One more thing off my list of Things That Need Grinding. Next stop; murmurs, Requiem Relics and Parazon mods, and then.... about 5 million credits so that I can finish building my Railjack. Good times!

You don't know what it was like.
    You weren't there.
You never fought in the Console Wars.

You also need the Steel Meridian mod (+200% Multishot!) for it to truly shine. But once you have it... oh boy!

I wanted to avoid mentioning the Hek as too many newbies get told "Rhino, Hek, clear starchart" and they soon lose interest in the game since they have no incentive to explore and experiment with all the weapons and warframes at their own pace.

Don't forget the AOE Justice Syndicate proc.

The Hek with the SM mod outclasses the Vaykor Hek until you start getting into serious end-game mods (rank 6+ Primed Ravage and the like).
