Default The Call of Constellations: a Community Worldbuilding Project.

I thought it be would be fun to start a little community worldbuilding project, and here's what I have so far.

Magic: Each caster aligns themselves with a specific constellation, typically one of the twenty-five which rest within a belt around the ecliptic (a little like the zodiac). Every time there is a full moon the power reserves of casters aligned with any constellation is restored, but those aligned with the constellation on the belt that the sun is aligned with receive MORE. This happens to each constellation about once every two years.

Casters: Becoming a caster is a mix of innate skill (being "called" by a specific constellation), and rigorous training and practice. Each caster aligns themselves with a specific constellation which grants them certain abilities and spells. Technically anyone can become a caster, but it takes far more effort and time for those that are not called to that constellation.
Each constellation is often named after the person (or in some cases the persons) who discovered them, which may not be the same on another continent (if we go that far). These people tend to have a profound influence on the philosophy that surrounds that particular constellation.
A caster can either ration their power until it is restored the next full moon, or they can expend it all at once to great effect, but at great risk since they are then vulnerable.

Rules: Each person can post about one of the twenty-five constellations on the belt and either the namesake(s) of a constellation or an organization surrounding a constellation. Maybe a constellation that's off the belt too. For convenience we'll just say that the order of the constellations are the same as the order they're posted in, please give that number for convenience, starting at the third (since I'll give two examples right after this). As normal, please don't outright contradict something someone else posts, and don't try to invalidate it somehow, either. Also, I don't really wan't their to be any true predictions of the future, but something that only appears to predict the future is welcome (like the two examples).

Example 1, The Twin Tricksters: The constellation of The Twin Tricksters grants magic of two types: grand and dramatic illusions to misdirect; and the subtle ability to manipulate people and events, to control luck and chance for the benefit of the caster and their allies.

Example 2, The Sorrowful Seer: The Constellation of The Sorrowful Seer doesn't grant the ability to see the future as some believe, but instead lets the caster see the past of lands both far and near as far back as a few years or decades, or even as recent as the moment before. The confusion is understandable though, since a caster can tell of an attack planned by an enemy before they've even traveled half the way there. Another way a caster of The Sorrowful Seer can appear to predict the future is by learning of the manipulations performed by a caster of The Twin Tricksters, but they must be wary of misdirection by that caster, too. An alliance between a caster of The Sorrowful Seer and one of the Twin Tricksters is a thing to be feared.

Anyway, that's what I have so far, I hope you like it. Go crazy with this!

    Mother and Child

This constellation is associated with healing and protection. When it is overhead at sunset magic of peace and conflict resolution are dominant. Childrenborn under this sign are considered lucky.

    4. The Fallen Angel

Depicting a winged humanoid, the Fallen angel constellation grants the magic of mental manipulation. One can use the constellations power to instill fear, increase charisma, steal memories or even alter a persons loyalties. Unfortunately those whom align themselves with this constellation are highly prone to bouts of bad luck.

    5: The Shifter

This constellation looks a little different each day, slowly shifting between different animal figures. (I could try to explain this by saying it's made up of planetoids in some sort of orbital resonance with the world this takes place on rather than stars, but where's the fun in that?) This constellation doesn't raise conventional casters, rather its followers learn to use its power to change their shape, attributes, species and even size. Skilled practitioners can learn how to take on the exact appearance of other individuals, how to harness the mightiest monstrous forms, how to change their attributes from round to round, or they can go around collecting ever more forms to change into. The shifter also inspires the use of what its followers call the minor arts, simple but effective alchemical creations and devices that give the user extra options in dealing with those things shape shifting cannot fix.

(Edit: or maybe leave out that last bit, if it turns out most of these have a narrow focus/a single area of expertise rather than a small portfolio of flavors.)

    6: The Phantom eyes/The Veil

A constallation of two bright stars, with a few far dimmer stars providing an outline of a face or a head. While this constallation has various names, these two are by far the most common, and illustrate the two ways that the constallation's power is used. The 'Phantom eyes' aspect allows users to move utterly invisibly, except for their eyes, which will glow dimly instead. This is utterly personal in use, and the more the person is wearing or carrying, the more power it takes. Closing their eyes is fine, but has its own drawbacks. The Veil aspect comes for those who instead decide to cover instead of close their eyes when using this power. This allows users to see others hiding under the same constallations power, but nothing else. Very highly trained users might be able to do a little more in both aspects, but that is far beyond most.

    7: The Knave's Mirror

The constellation looks like a man staring into a mirror. One can use this constellation's power to force others to mirror their body's actions perfectly or to allow them to mirror the actions of other people. Novice practitioners that channel this constellation tend to accidentally walk into walls as they often need proper space to fully utilize thier abilities. To instigate this power one must make direct eye contact with their target and be in similar postures.
