Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
1) They don't? Oh wow, looking through their stat-blocks I see that they do not. For some reason I naturally assumed that basically all high CR monsters have immunity to b/p/s from non-magical weapons. In the legends they always seemed to have that so I kind of forgot that D&D dragons do not. I will get rid of that
2) Sorry, i forgot about that.
3) What else do you have in mind? The stat-block already takes up most of the page, do you really want to make it even longer?-

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
I'd like to see cross breeding metallic and chromatic dragons to make some neutral dragons. Maybe they can only cross breed if they already have the same breath weapon type and it results in a gem dragon that is the same color as chromatic dragon parent (e.g. sapphire, emerald, ruby, and maybe onyx for black and diamond for white).

Cross a dragon with a POODLE and get something that you can walk around the neighborhood and blow everyone else away (maybe literally)!

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
The five base colors of mana in MtG, White/Blue/Green/Red/Black, can be combined to create two-color "guilds". The Red/Green guild is Gruul, which is essentially just a bunch of primordial savages, berserkers, shamans, and really, really big monsters. It relies on brute force alone. By a "rage mechanic" I meant a D&D rage like a berserker gets.

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
just as a note,
there was in 4e purple, yellow, and brown dragons.. aswell as others, i just remember those are definately pre-existing dragon types..
from the top of my head,
purple is 2 headed, and super magical, one head does a MASSIVE magic missile attack, the other is disintigrate..
Brown has mal-formed wings (more like the wings of a flying squirrel), it lives in the desert.. breathes sand!
yellow... i cannot remember anything.. sorry! (may be getting brown and yellow mixed up..)

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
I think over the long history of the game--particularly when there was D&D and AD&D going at the same time, along with monthly Dragon magazines in need of content-- that each color and metal has gotten at least one write up. Puce dragons and Plaid dragons and Talc dragons and Vanadium dragons.

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
In case anyone was curious - 4e Draconomicon lists black, blue, brown, grey, green, purple, red, and white as chromatics. Draconomicon 2 lists adamantine, brass, bronze, cobalt, copper, gold, iron, mercury, mithral, orium, silver, and steel as metallics. On top of those, there are all sorts of weird ones, including a full selection of undead (like 4 different methods of dracolich), dragons for each plane, "hollow dragons," et cetera.
Brown dragons live in deserts and breathe sand, creating miniature sand tornados and quicksand fields. Gray dragons breath corrosive ooze and can petrify. Purple dragons breathe "psychotropic vapors" (not making that up) and are, in essence, psionic dragons.
My guesses for Yellow and Orange, knowing these things:
- Yellow are Thunder Dragons - thunder-cone breath weapon, immunity to thunder damage, and climb speed. Flies to the heights of the world, listening for works of acoustic art worth obtaining.
- Orange - you think I'm running out of damage types, right? I mean, we have acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, thunder - what's left? Fear not, because Orange is the Force Dragon. Hover speed, force immunity, and spheres of force (ideally multiple small spheres). Floats amidst ruined cities, searching for relics of civilization - the older, the better.

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
No problem, mate.
Speaking of dragons, I made some stats for the Yellow and Orange dragons I mentioned. Based largely on the blue and green dragon stats, although I make no firm promises about their IRL CR. Yellow follows a standard cone-based model, while Orange...Orange is unique. The sphere thing just sounds cool to me, and I want to see a DM put it into action.

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
I've been looking through the dragonomicon 2 and I noticed all the "new" metallic dragons and was wondering why they havent done something like this for 5e. I know we have MToF coming out but I think i would like some more guides on specific races. How hard is it to convert 4e to 5e?

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
Would you look at the odds, someone wrangled up enough GP to cast revivify on this thread.
That depends on how much you want it to be like the 4e version. If you are more or less just trying to create a perfect carbon copy it could be difficult, but if you are just trying to form the basic idea and concepts without being too finicky than it is rather simple to do. I do not have massive experience with 4e but I could take a stab at creating some stat-blocks for those new metallic dragons, assuming that I can find them in the SRD that is.-

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
I've been saving up all month. Yah i'm just trying to get the concept of them and adapt it to 5e. I would like more dragon options for certain options. I just wanted to convert the basics like the breath weapon, I seem to remember one having a snake breath weapon or something, and other key features. I also think dragonborn for all these options would be cool. I would hate to be a mud dragonborn.

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
Then the day came when a white/red dragon crossbred with a blue dragon.
Instead of breathing, it throws a mighty shield at people. ;)

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
Canonically, pink dragons shoot bubbles.
So for generations did the sainted skull of Caius Anicius Magnus Furius Camillus Æmilianus Cornelius Valerius Pompeius Julius Ibidus, consul of Rome, favourite of emperors, and saint of the Romish church, lie hidden beneath the soil of a growing town. At first worshipped with dark rites by the prairie-dogs, who saw in it a deity sent from the upper world..

Re: Crossbreeding Dragons
For over two weeks the grave has remained undisturbed. The head stone reads "Here lies the Crossbreeding Dragons" thread. But there is one issue, the thread is not dead, it was simply buried alive in its coffin. Or buried... undead. The mighty lich known as Crossbreeding Dragons has once again succeeded on its undead fortitude saving throws and tricked the heroes into believing it was dead, and it is quite pissed that people forgot it so easily. And know It shall sate its wrath by rising from the grave an resurrecting two dead dragons, lost to time and hungry to feast upon the flesh of the living. It has begun...
The Night of the Living Thread
Ivor! Ivor! I have finally done it! I have created the adult versions of the Mercury and Opium dragons! And draconic ancestries for both of them and the mud dragon! Did you think I had given up so easily? No I did not! You can find them in the link below. I put them in the same document as the mud dragon. Yay!
