Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek's blade hits, and the skeleton loses its free arm. It clutches the sword in its remaining hand tighter.

Beorn laughs as the skeleton's blow bounces off his impressive muscles, then takes a mighty swing at the nearest intact skeleton.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Skeletal bits scattered about the floor, Galinndan returns his rapier to its sheath. "Is it just me, or did that go surprisingly well? Dare I say we might just make it out of here alive. Well, let's see what they were protecting." Walking up to the altar, Galinndan takes a moment to inspect the flask's liquid and whistle for a magical essence.
Spoiler: Arcana ChecksWill roll two checks, one for the flask and another for the whistle.

Beorn takes some time to calm down, shattering any intact skulls for good measure to blow off steam.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
"Both the liquid and this here whistle appear to be magical. The flask holds warding magic, but without identifying the enchantment, I can't tell what it wards against. Similarly, the whistle contains necrotic energy. I can't advise using this until I can find out more. It will take a little bit for of time for me to prepare for such rituals, might as well push forward if we're doing well. I'm spent magically, but my charming presence has been described to me as magical, so there is that. How does everyone feel about continuing?" As the party considers their next move, Galinndan stashes away the flask and whistle, while going about the various sarcophagi to check for goods buried with the dead.
Spoiler: PerceptionPerception Check: (1d20+3)[4]
Ah yes, the rule of averages strikes hard.
Spoiler: Galinndan StatusMy character sheet is updated so that can be used as a resource as well, but Galinndan is currently at full HP (10/10), out of spell slots (2/2 used), and has two bardic inspirations to provide (2/3 remaining). When we level up Galinndan can pick up the Identify spell and find out more about the magic items we have.
Spoiler: EXP QuestionQuestion for @bc56: I believe I am off on the EXP we've gained so far, especially if we gain EXP for talking with the kobolds. What is the amount we should have on our sheets? Thanks!Last edited by Wheaton's Whelp; 2018-03-22 at 01:45 PM.

Fargrim, breathing heavily, sits down. “Are you ahll rihght to be withoot healin’, because I think I broke somethin’...”
Spoiler: OOC
Indeed, Fargrim is at 1 HP, as I’ve just realised: I should keep better tally of my hit points.

Harbek stows his sword and walks to offer any help he can to Fargrim. "I think you did ... Or at least sprained it.". He looks to the others and asks, "A good long breather is in order, do we want to risk getting back to town first, or rest up here?"

"A rest it is! Meepo, if you will, lead us to a safe area where we can lick our wounds and rest our heads." As the party begins to walk back, Galinndan is once again scanning each room and area they pass for information regarding where the other kobolds are stationed.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Meepo leads you back along the path you took to get to the area you were in, to the other side of Yusdrayl's chamber. There's a stout wooden door with a peephole. Meepo whispers something into the door and it opens. Behind it is a large, semicircular room filled with a number of makeshift houses made from rubble and scrap wood. Dozens of kobolds are moving about the place, doing housework and similar things. Except for the fact that you are the only non kobolds here, and the fact that you're underground, it could be mistaken for a small surface town. Your group gets several stares as Meepo leads you to a currently vacant house. It's a bit cramped, being designed for small creatures, but not terrible.

Fargrim glances at Meepo. “Thahnk you, Meepo, you’ve been a greaht help to us so far.” He turns to his companions. “Cahn anyone think of a use for th’ little bit o’ divine power I’ve got left?” He chuckles. “Does anyone need me to detect some good an’ evil, or maybe create sohme water?”

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Galinndan joins in praising Meepo and kobold community for their hospitality; he never thought finding friends, or at least allies, was going to happen on this mission. Pulling out the whistle, Galinndan turns to Fargrim, "You're skilled in the priestly magics, yes? With your help, and maybe some divine guidance do you think we could find out more about this?" Galinndan displays the whistle resonating with necrotic energy.
Spoiler: Guidance and ChecksLooking to see if together if we can root the history, and maybe the arcane properties of this whistle. Going to assume Fargrim helps (Help Action), and casts guidance on Galinndan as he looks over the whistle.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
The check would be arcana, at your +1. All you know is that it's a crystal whistle in the shape of a dragon curled up like a snail, with a short sequence of runes on it. Fargrim or Harbek, if they examined the whistle, (which Fargrim would have needed to to Help) can read the runes as two Dwarvish words which translate to "Night Caller."

Once they have a place to rest, Beorn checks the edge of his axe, then sharpens the spear he picked up earlier.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek idly watches Beorn inspect his weapons and fidgets with his lockpicking set while they rest. When the man starts sharpening his spear, the dwarf adjusts his spectacles and speaks. "Pardon my interrupting, Master Oakheart, but I always think there are people who carry weapons with stories around with 'em. Mind if I ask you and your axe's?"

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Beorn looks at Harbek and raises an eyebrow, then returns to his work. "I needed a weapon. It is an axe. I bought it."
He pauses, letting out a slow breath, thinking. "The tales are yet to be written."SpoilerHe didn't have any weapons when he went into exile, so he had to work at manual labor and save for his kit

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek nods, and pulls out the little spearhead from his pack and starts fiddling with it. "Aye, well there coulda been one. I guess we'll see how the story goes." His thoughts drift to thinking about the events of the day, and how dangerous things had been. His eyes occasionally shift to glance at his companions, and wondered what else still lay ahead of them.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Used to waking up early to stoke the fires of his smithy's forge, Harbek doesn't find it all too difficult to pull himself out from under the blanket he had brought with him. He stretches and sighs once he stands up, and starts packing his things back into his pack, nodding at the excited kobold. He keeps his voice low, to avoid disturbing the others and says, "Aye, aye, just gotta get me pack together and maybe a bit of food in me."

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
"Meepo have food for you! Eat up!" Meepo sets down a sack, which makes a rustling noise. He opens it to reveal white crickets the size of Beorn's fist. They are thankfully dead, but probably raw. Meepo takes one and eats it, crunching with gusto. "Eat! It good!"
