Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Beorn twists through the air, trying to grab the ledge, but barely missed, falling 10 feet into the pit trap and taking (1d6)[5] falling damage. The giant rat in the pit does not seem happy that someone else has dropped in on it. The rat looks up from the half-eaten Goblin corpse and advances, snarling on Beorn.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek sets the lantern down on the ground after jumping to the side once the trap had revealed itself. He moves to the edge of the pit and readies a sling bullet, preparing for the worst, though he was confident a simple rat wouldn't pose much a threat.
SpoilerReady Action; Attack once Beorn and the rat are adjacent to each other.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek snorts derisively. Just as he suspected, the rat was almost completely a nonthreat. He bends down to the ledge and extends an arm. "You okay there Master Oakenheart?"
SpoilerHelp to give advantage to the next check (if needed) to get Beorn back out.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
The sight of Beorn falling made Galinndan just slightly giddy. It reminded him of the child-entertaining puppeteers and their slapstick comedy. He could almost picture the brutish man not falling until locking down. "Do watch your step all, for this held but a slight drop and a rodent, the next may be more cumbersome to overcome. But here, to repair a damaged ego."

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
"A bruised ego, I've found, is easily healed with time and treasure. Personally, I say we shoot for the later." Turning and walking a bit away from the sunken floor, Galinndan finds a spot roughly 10 to 15 feet back to begin his run forward. Upon approaching the gap, Galinndan attempts to cross with a dive and roll.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Beorn stands up, dusts himself off, and kicks the rat corpse for good measure. "We want to save it for emergency rations?" It is hard to tell if he is joking.
He drags himself out of the pit and gives Galinndan a grunt of appreciation for his spell. Setting his jaw in annoyed determination, he crosses the catwalk and attempts the door again.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
The door is unlocked. It opens into a circular area cobbled with cracked granite, upon which sprawl the bodies of four Goblins, apparently slain in combat. One corps stands with its back against the Western wall, the spear that killed it still skewering it and holding it upright. Two wooden doors, ancient and decrepit, lead out of this area, one to the Northwest and one to the southwest. The door you entered from is on the east. A hollow tower of loose masonry stands above you, bit the intervening floors and stairs have long crumbled away.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
As the door swings open, Galinndan stealthily takes to the northern wall and follows the masonry around to the northwest door. Scanning the room, and with his ears focused on any noise coming from the door, Galinndan searches for any indication that those who killed the goblins are still around.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek carefully moves around the outside of the pit trap, a bit flustered that his human companion didn't seem to react on the offered helping hand. Nonetheless, the view inside the door unsettles him a moment. He wasn't quite built for combat, even if he had already helped slay a few rats. As the half-elf moves to try and locate any potential enemies, the dwarven locksmith examines the slain goblins, curious to see if they at least had some edible provisions they wouldn't been needing any time soon. He swallows the lump in his throat and repeats mentally to himself that they were corpses, probably dead just as long as the campfire they'd found outside.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
The corpses actually seem to be rather fresh, but Harbek can't tell how old they are at first glance. They have no food or anything else of value on them, and their pockets are visibly turned out, suggesting that something may have looted them already.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Appearing to momentarily be in the clear, Galinndan lets himself relax out of his crouched position. In a lowered voice, "It appears we found our first fork in the road. I tend to favor the left over the right, for no reason really, other than a gut feeling brought on by it being my dominant writing hand. What about you Beorn? You seem quite capable at finding the traps..."
Walking up to each door, Galinndan inspects the frame for surrounding stonework for signs of traps.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Beorn yanks the spear out of the wall and shakes the dead goblin off, lashing the extra weapon to his pack. When questioned about direction, he looks toward the secret door. "No one hides things that aren't important, yeah? Let's open that one. Or break it down." He gets closer to study it.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Beorn points to the rune on the wall. "Hey, anyone know what that means? Someone covered it up on purpose?" Airsick lowlanders, did they think no one would take a perfectly good weapon?

"Doesn't look like a script I'm familiar with, but Fargrim, Harbek, what do you're Dwarven eyes see 'ere?" Galinndan copies a bit of Fargrim's speaking cadence and accent at the end of the statement.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek looks at the strange rune, but can't decipher it either. "T'ain't letters I've ever learned to read." Moving towards the secret door, he takes a very keen eye to the door. He was no stranger to hidden locks and mechanisms, having worked on plenty himself in his smithy back home. A place he was starting to miss more and more as their surroundings started to get darker and darker.

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
Harbek shakes his head as he continues to pore over the surface of the door. His voice is low, only allowing the minimal amount of mental capacity to distract from his investiagtion. "No, that ain't it. If it were nonsense runes, we could at least recognize 'em as such. Though if they can make bad dwarven runes on the pillars we saw before climbing down here, who's to say they aren't butchering some other letters?" His eyes narrow as he thinks he sees something that helps solve the mystery of the door, "Or maybe it's from whoever killed them."

Re: 5e Sunless Citadel IC
"If they had a trap at the entrance, I'm betting there's another guarding a secret space. I have an idea, everyone step back just in case." Inspecting the stone jutting out just slightly, Galinndan does a few quick gestures with his hands before a spectral hand appears before the brick. Waiting until everyone clears the immediate vicinity, mimicking the movements of the spectral hand, he begins to pull on the brick.
