Lycanthropy is really cool but is it worth it?

First Pathfinder since it's not that big. I see 2 main uses:
1: get it on worrior to get more powerful hybrid with anural armor, DR and possiably one size larger, as well as low-light vision and scent as cherry onto.
2: high charisma character can also make use Lycanthropic Empathy. This can work even on caster using animal form flight. DR, low-light vision and scent still come in handy.
A paladin probably makes use of all of that, also on side note afflicted

also afflicted seems usless, if you want to be Lycanthrop go natural and if you ever get afflicted just cure it.

Now to 3.5e.
Hybryd form for worriors is stgong as well. Getting more abilty scores, DR, size, special quilties, bouse feats. It'ts good Brown Bear and Lion seem moust effetive is stight up power. There also other options Dire Bat seems great for ranger wepon users like crossbow rouge or ranger. Tho the lather should take hover as feat. Also there is Eagle that is best in terms of speed and since it gives Weapon Finesse with just one RHD. Bat or Eagle may even work on combat casters if they take out of body casting.

On afflicted vs natural front is better since, espesaly for worriors who already need a lot of RHD. Again moust of "Lycanthrop problems" can be skiped with just staying in Hybryd form so you only need 14 work of ranks and wis(mod) makeing sure you cannot fail that roll.

having said that I can't tell weather of this is vaiable

also side note, who you guys handle charters getting afflicted in 3.5e? should they get all RHD and AL but not XP? (that can be insame bust in power, espesaly on early lvs) or is there a say to keep power balance with the party?

It's not really worth it. It comes with too much LA and crappy RHD. It can certainly give a significant power boost when applied mid-campaign, but the lycanthrope will fall far behind as the other party members catch up in levels.

It can be useful for some qualification shenanigans since you can cure it and then have some prcs that self qualify:
Also if you can retrain then just retrain all the monstrous class levels you got in regular class levels and have somehow gained a bunch of levels with near to no drawback.

Minimizing HD is not that useful since you're still eating a set amount of LA. The linked thread has a link to another thread which lists a few obscure monsters with nice advantages.
