I tried that as well, I completely closed it out via altctrldel. Still, it ended up working in the end, and after two hours of trying, Nexus finally decided to let me start downloading as well, so I officially have my first major mod installed :). Huzzah!

It only happens once in a rare while, but I usually have autosave disabled because I hate the clutter of save files it creates.

    *snerk* I love those moments.

One of my favorite moments was when I was battling an ice mage and had to back away to heal myself. He gave chase and plowed through a cluster of random items that fell on floor from our battle. Because of item physics he took a bunch of damage from the items bouncing around and died. It was like he tripped on an apple and broke his neck. XD

Nope, never gets old. I got harassed by town guards for littering jewelry before. It's fun.

Quick question, do I need "LOOT" With NMM? And if so, is it it's own stand-alone thing, or do I install it using NMM as well?

Alrighty then, thanks! Sorry for the all the questions last few days, I haven't modded a TES game since Morrowind, and even then I never downloaded a lot.

In Bethesda games, plugin load order tells the game in which sequence things should be loaded into the game. This means that if your load order is in the wrong sequence, plugins may try to find information from master files that haven't loaded yet, or just find the wrong mod's effect being applied. LOOT is a tool to help sort your load order; not 100% necessary, and not 100% reliable, but a good convenience to have.

If you encounter a loading problem, and you'll know because it crashes before you see the main menu, and LOOT doesn't help, download xEdit. Start that up and let it load. It will error out and tell you which file is missing a master, which none of the other applications will do.

What is with mods and hugging? Seriously, recorded an episode and died because I'd gotten a hug and could not get my wizard hands to work again. Gotta put my 'weapon' away before hand and it works fine but there was no warning.

A couple mods do, mostly follower mods. This particular one is Rigmor of Bruma, and it's entirely platonic.

One thing I miss from Oldrim mods were the added Khajiit hairstyles. Seems like they weren't ported over. I could do it myself, but that requires getting the SE Creation Kit, which means getting the Bethesda launcher to get the SE Creation Kit... feels like a bit of work for a little itty bitty mod. Or maybe I'm lazy. Could argue either way I suppose. The hair mods ported to SE are those huge ones like Apachii. Stuff that's 350 megs. Wow.

One thing I probably SHOULD update is my OBS software to record my play. Latest version is 22.0.2 and I have... 0.659b? Um...

Anyway, after some test runs, it seems all the mods are playing nice with each other so I think I'll do a full run with some videos. Maybe try to play an actual spellcaster this time (sneak theifs are second-nature to me, I can't help going back to those).

Try a conjuration weapon stealth mage if you can't get away from stealth. Ghostwalk from Apocalypse is awesome.

Oh ho ho, thanks for the idea. I will try that! I've now installed a mod that lets you conjure a bound pickaxe and hatchet.

One thing I'll say about SE edition is I feel like installing mods manually is little more annoying than it was in LE edition. Probably because you have to load the actual game in SE edition to access the mod list (as opposed to the launch window in LE) and for whatever reason the game will still disable certain mods because reasons. I have a workaround for it, but it just feels like an extra step. Probably because of that Creator Club thing that is attached to the game now. Hmm.

You absolutely don't have to load the game before modding it. You'd only do that if you were using the official creation club mods, but Nexus still has a better range and still works the old way.

I am getting all my mods from Nexus, but there were a couple that needed to be installed manually (ports from the LE version that weren't repackaged well). I tried activating mods by editing the Prefs text file for it, but LOOT for whatever reason didn't like that. But end result is I got everything loaded now and playing well together.

    I highly recommend Khajiit-speak, BTW.

That's been my feeling too; given that it was last slated to come out in - December, IIRC? - you'd think they'd at least have put out more in the way of hype by now. And what ever happened to the Early Access?

So, over the last week or so I've been setting up and testing a new load order for Skyrim Special Edition. My list of mods is getting pretty lengthy at this point, but I still have some room, so anyone have any mods they think I should be throwing in?

My focus has been primarily on content, with some immersive survival stuff in there too. But I have been adding interesting bits and pieces as I find them. Vortex doesn't have a good way to export the mod list, but I have found a way that sort of works...

I do have some notable omissions. CACO and OBIS both caused instability in my setup, while I have other mods covering the same territory as Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons.

So it looks like Blades was officially pushed back to early next year. That's fine by me really, I'm mostly just curious about the game and not particularly excited for it.

I've gotten that way too; the combat I've seen looks kind of bland, and I haven't seen any of the city-building aspect of it. I mostly just want to see what they decide to do with the premise of playing as one of the Blades as far as plot, but I haven't heard much about that either. The fact that it's been delayed twice is not inspiring confidence either.

The announcement of Tes6 flew completely under my radar, i only found out it was announced today. But then again, of course it would fly under that radar: i wasnt mad at fallout 76, i was mad at skyrim and fallout 4 (and oblivion was mixed) 76 was just an eyeroller for me.

So does anyone have any hope that it will be any good?

I mean... I'll be buying it regardless, and probably be pumping a lot of hours I to it.

I admit being afraid to ask why you were mad at Skyrim. If it was the writing... You might be playing games from the wrong franchise.

Well, Skyrim does have a lot of issues, hence a lot of mods. Even excluding the writing. But even so, I have no hesitation in giving it honours over Oblivion.

My fear for TES6 is that it might be like Fallout 4. Now that was a real waste of electrons.
"None of us likes to be hated, none of us likes to be shunned. A natural result of these conditions is, that we consciously or unconsciously pay more attention to tuning our opinions to our neighbor’s pitch and preserving his approval than we do to examining the opinions searchingly and seeing to it that they are right and sound." - Mark Twain
