Actually, I had been wondering why on earth you would need a security detail to visit a music star's compound. This appears to be the answer to that. What can I say: at least, it's an answer.

In this case, I prefer not getting an answer.
I just assumed it was allowed, and Danica used it to bring her friends along.

Besides, with her powers any security personal that comes with her is much more likely to be used as a hostage instead of helping.
I'm not saying her friends are useless, but if you invite Superman to your house, you don't really expect he will come with two armed guards with him because he needs them.

I think such a law is pretty believable. There are enough places already where you defacto have to have a cell phone like china. And it doesn't say mandatory cell phone usage, just being able to be reached. That seems reasonable in space since you need to be able to call help if youa re in trouble.

I read your post before viewing the new page and thought i knew what it's going to be.

It didn't prepare me for the sheer absurdness of the comic.

Hands up, who doesn't sing in the bathroom? (raises hand, instead i hum melodies when cycling)

This is... Very very weird. But I will admit amusing. I think it's not meant to be but Burke singing into his shampoo bottle is quite funny. Next time : Hymn loses interest in Danica because he MUST recruit Burke for his choir.

Clone singers would be a strange answer but.. One I could accept.

Hymn is checking to make sure that his guests don't pee in the shower.

Is this happening with the aliens, too?

It's a silly little maze, so you can't immediately see which shower leads to which syringe. Which, since the maze is puny, and takes all of five seconds, means it's only purpose is to be mildly annoying.

    Clones doesn't really solve anything.
It can still be an awkward moment when a visitor sees himself on TV as part of the choir.
The only advantage of clones (assuming that's what it is), is adding another layer of silly complexity.
A bit too late, but still better than taking it seriously.

On a regular planet that's correct. But the terraformed asteroid is maybe 1 km in diameter. So the maze could be necessary for the shifts in gravity.

    Two random questions:

    1) Which is more creepy, cameras in the shower, or collecting water from the shower?

    2) What happens if the visitor comes from a commercial flight, probably covered in DNA of ~70 people?

I don't know what kind of flights you've been on, but I tend not to get off the plane covered in the bodily fluids of 70 people.

Also, I doubt there are any commercial flights to Hymn's private estate.

The choir members all wear masks so they won't be recognized. And they all look identical. Same gender, same height, same general facial feature, same ethnicity. Even the two scientists in the last update look identical, with same hair colour and cut. And that sticks out since the cast has been very diverse diverse. In the last update alone we have dark-skinned Mrs Brightman, Latino Danica, and Caucasian Burke. Garth as artist does pay attention to detail.
Come to think about it, the choir all does look a bit like Hymn. Same hair colour, skin colour and chin. Even the blond woman looks a bit like him. And the masks have his moustache.

    Naturally.
If they want dna material from their guests, they can get those a lot more easily.

Still, they are collecting the water?? It must be some fringe science like
    1. distilling the musical water spirits of the guests
    2. then exposing the spirits to mindcontrol choir music
    3. then mixing the same spirits into their respective drinks later...
    4. ???

I dunno, have you really checked how clean those seats are?

I tried to read this to keep up with the thread, but can someone tell me:

    1) Why are they collecting shower water, and does soap ruin DNA samples?

    2) Why is there a serial killer again?

    3) Why is everyone humanoid?

    4) Who does science with no goggles and a full face mask?

    5) Why is the shoulder alien naked?

    1) Don't know yet and probably yes, depends on the soap.
    2) Because there is no story without conflict.
    3) The humanoid body shape is very basic and is fundamental to developing civilization. You can't build cities and machines without bipedalism.
    4) These guys, apparently?

    1) quite sure DNA does not like to be washed... Or cells in general.
    2) well.. Better than story with no conflict? Maybe?
    3) now you listen to me, you quadrophile, there is nothing wrong with having more than two legs (or arms, or possibly tentacles etc) there are many shapes of aliens and they are all beautiful and viable

    4) well I'd say people who don't want to contaminate their samples by breathing on them but that would give them too much credit.

The thing about extra limbs is that they require extra energy to maintain. Thus, the added utility must be enough to, at least, counterbalance the higher calorie requirement. That tends not to be the case in larger lifeforms. We lost our tails not because they were no longer useful but because they weren't useful enough for their cost. Natural selection determined that taillessness was more efficient. A tail isn't even that much, but it still got eliminated. Extra arms or legs would be far worse. Realistically, if we ever run across intelligent aliens, they would probably look a lot like us. Evolution tends to follow the same patterns.

Not really. It's because we're Vertebrate. If you have a functioning model it's hard to change the basic elements that compose it. Octopuses and giant squids are just one example of a large animal that came from a different evolutionary path and therefore have more limbs and, quite exceptionally no skeleton.

The real reason this comic is quadrophile is to help the readers empathise and witheven und erstand the characters.

Octopuses have eight limbs not because they're invertebrate but because those limbs are useful and improve their survivability in their niche.

Yes, and yet fish are much more similar to monkeys than to octopuses.
