Dagar blinks again as the realization crosses her mind. "By Mystra this. Is. AWESOME!"

She pulls out a big book and some tools. "I've always wanted to be in a spell puzzle!"

A long and annoyed dwarven grumble comes from Volfer as he slowly shuts the door and angrily starts to explore around the tavern looking for obvious clues with his shield being used aggressively as cover (consider this a dodge action) as he tries to look for stuff out of place.

As Volfer shuts the door, and Dagar calls out, the room suddenly shifts. The other occupants are gone, and a soft grey light emanates from the cracks around the door. The door itself opens, seemingly of its own volition, and rather than the darkness of total nothingness, the doorway is filled with a dully shimmering portal.

All that's missing is a bit of victory music, and a voiceover saying "Proceed to Level Two"

Just so we're clear, figuring out that the Inn was a pocket dimension WAS the puzzle for the first bit.
But there are a few more levels to go before y'all get to actually leave the Test Market.

Dagar blinks and closes the big book. "WELP"

She looks to the others. "So who is ready for crazy adventures?" She enthusiastically holds her hand up. She doesn't even wait before going through the portal.

Skyra shifts her weight from side to side, clearly uncomfortable with the sudden changes in her surroundings. She looks at the teifling's excited face "You are much too amused by this"

[Eura]

This is some rats in a mindflayer maze **** to Volfer; After realizing he's the only one with real armor Volfer will volunteer to go first assuming some form of ambush on the other side of this portal. Shield and weapon out he'll bark "Stay close and go through the portal after me quickly, if there's an ambush I have the best chance of survival." If it matters I'm dodging while walking through the portal.

The Lizard goes back behind the bar, grabs the most expensive looking bottle, then goes through the portal after the rest of the party.

Once you pass through the portal, with the same pressure change as you do, you enter... the Inn you just left. However, this time the tables are empty, and the barman is nowhere to be seen. There's also a new feature that wasn't present in the last iteration of the Sign of Thunder: a set of stairs near the back wall.

The lizardfolk checks their hand for the pilfered bottle, and then checks that back of the counter to see if it moved or was duplicated, or simply ceased to be.

The girl looks up the stairs and then utters an incantation
A shimmer surrounds her before vanishing. She looks back at the others. ”soooo who wants to go upstairs with me?”

Mage Armor, AC is now 15, Also she now has a buffer that has 9hp before she takes damage.

With a sigh "I suppose I will. Here, let me help you with looking for things" Volfer will then cast something on Dagar that will give her a strong sense of stability and identity. Volfer will then go upstairs with his now blessed tiefling (hah).

I casted guidance which gives an extra 1d4 to the next ability check within the next minute. this can be added before or after the roll (which might be weird for play by post)

The expensive bottle has vanished, but a new one has taken its place behind the bar.

Meanwhile, upstairs, there's a hallway lined with doors. While the lower floor was obviously a sort of common room/dining area, the upstairs seems to be where the rooms people actually sleep in are. There are 8 doors on each side of the hall, and a window looking out into blackness at the very end.

Skyra climbs the stairs and peers around Volfer, keeping her voice low "I've feel like I've heard this horror story from someone before....only missing the bit about a knife between my ribs" She glances around "So...who wishes to open the one of the foreboding doors first?"

[Obscurejones]

The lizard repilfers the bottle frowning at it in disapproval of its translocation. Following the group up stairs he glares at the doors. Then at the question and it’s asker. Raises a single clawed hand in mute answer.

[Eura]

With a furrowed brow "This is going to take all day isn't it?" Volfer picks a door and try to look through the keyhole and if he'll say if it's anything weird and if it's normal/non-threatening he'll immediately open it.

When Volfer puts his eye to the keyhole, he finds that he can't pull away. The door has secreted some sort of sticky substance that has his face stuck just below the knob. And then the door itself peels from the wall, where there's nothing behind it, wrapping around the Duergar like an evil fruit roll-up.

Let's get some Initiative, s'il vous plait!

Sadly, Volfer, this thing auto-grapples basically anything that touches it, and gets Advantage on attack rolls against things it has grappled. Luckily, it's not time for it to actually attack yet.

The lizard quirks one of the feathered ridges above its eyes and lifts its hands towards the door.

Dagars hands go into motion. A finger goes from her hip to the sky as an orb appears in front of her. You can almost hear the disco happening as it scintilates among different colors before settling on a pulsing blue. With a flourish and a spin she brings her hands around and the orb makes its way to the mimic monster.

The lizard points the first finger of each hand at the mimic and cocks his thumbs back.
"Bang."
A pair of spiraling gouts of flame erupt from his fingertips, soaking the creature and its victim in fire.

This one gets a spoiler because it's a little longer
A line of roaring flame 30 feet long and 5 feet wide emanates from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 3d8 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Popping two spells because I'm cool like that, spending two sorcery points.

Suddenly on fire and severely injured by his "teammates" Volfer's original plan now out the window I guess we're torching the malevolent Door.
Super-heating his warhammer to a smoldering red, Volfer will take a swing and hopefully kill this thing before he dies.

Hit by both a premium Orb and double finger guns, the door screams in agony, and melts into a vaguely amorphous clearish blob. It pulls itself away from Volfer to go after the creature who hurt it most, and its globby body erupts into numerous clusters of eyes and mouths as it lashes out at the lizard.

The Mimic misses its attack on the lizard, and gets an arrow right in one of its numerous eyes. Reeling in pain, it shrinks back in on itself, eyeing you all warily as its wounded eye oozes viscous black fluid.

The lizard, however, feels something odd happening. Odd, but intimately familiar. The forces of chaotic magic have slipped loose, and something random and wacky is about to happen...

Dagar puts her things down and starts trying to help the cleric. Shame she didn't train in this.... Maybe the ranger could help but she would take a crack at it.

Maybe wacky wasn't the right word. More like... catastrophic.

The roof of the inn explodes off, exposing you all to the empty void above. The Mimic is dead. Volfer and the lizard lie unconscious and burned. The hallway is blackened, and smoke chokes the air.

This leaves Dagar and Skyra to clean up the mess.

Skyra coughs, soot flying into the air. Her face and body burned and singed and not smelling unlike burnt popcorn. "I'd....really like to pretend today didn't happen"

She gently gets up off the ground, groaning softly, and looks at the damage. She sighs before making her way to Dagar, conjuring up 5 Goodberries.

She hands 3 of them to the teifling, "Have fun with em Nurse, just don't shove em down his throat all willy-nilly"

[Kell_tamer]

Dagar takes a berry... puts it in the dwarf's mouth. She opens and closes it so it can chew then rubs his throat so he can swallow it.

Skyra goes over to the Lizard and replicates Dagars action, making sure they don't choke.

The lizard stirs slightly and then opens their eyes.
