With a gulp for air Volfer wakes up with a start, realizes the shapeshifter is dead, and says "Gather round me, I have something for just such an occasion" while glaring at the two spellcasters. This requires an awkward 10 minutes of chanting.

This is prayer of healing which heals up to 6 people within 30feet 2d8+ spell modifier. the big catch is it takes 10 minutes to cast
so everyone heals (2d8+2)[14]

Once everyone is healed, it becomes blindingly obvious that none of the debris from the explosion ever came back down. The hunks of wood, mortar, brick, and shingles that used to be the roof and walls are suspended in midair, hovering in exactly the same way that they usually don't. The pieces seem to form the vague outline of some sort of structure, and high at the top of the framework, a portal winks into existence.

The tiefling brushes herself off. "Well all things considered that went better than us all dying."

She makes toward the portal and examines this one.

"Well no sense waiting around unless you all wanna rest a bit. but we could keep going."

[NachtSavant]

Skyra looks at the teifling "Are we sure it's wise to be heading off so quickly? We all almost died...from a DOOR." She glances at the Lizard "..and other magical shenanigans"

[Eura]

"I don't think the shapeshifting door actually hurt us at all. I'm not entirely sure how you arcane casters work, but if exploding is a common occurrence maybe you should go waaaayyyy first. If we're feeling good I can go a bit farther." Volfer will then get up and let Dagar go first. This time Volfer is being a little gun shy for now.

[Kell_tamer]

Dagar frowns. "Well not like that, unless our lizard is able to throw fireballs but only at their feet."

She shrugs. "I don't mind going first. not a big deal for me." And with that she heads into the portal. A bit of a skip in her step.

[Obscurejones]

The lizard gently shrugs their shoulders and then scampers after their fellow arcane caster.

As you all start to climb the framework of debris, the shatters pieces of the inn start to move. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to how they move, they just start flying about, some swirling in circles, others dropping and rising in long arcs, etc.

Y'all have to make either Athletics or Acrobatics checks, whichever is higher, to climb this swirling vortex of broken building. Though I suppose Skyra doesn't, because she can y'know... fly.

Skyra watches the Lizards graceful jumping "I was going to ask if you wanted me to carry you, but it seems like you got it covered"

She takes a moment to spread her wings, stretching them out before taking off into the void-sky, following the others.

With a hop, skip, and a guidance Volfer shall try to get to the portal.

As Dagar and the Lizard are hopping around from chunk to chunk, and Skyra is flying up towards the portal, Volfer gets about six feet off the ground, then goes *plop*. Dwarves aren't really made for climbing, it would seem. As soon as Volfer hits the floor, the smoke that was lingering in the hallway is stirred up by the spinning debris. The cloud resolves itself into a half dozen small, winged humanoid figures. They cackle malevolently, and fly up towards the others.

Ducking low to get the angle right the Lizard barks out a single word in old draconic and claps their hands together. A faintly visible ripple of force careens out, sweeping up one of the mephit clusters.

Dagar's hands pull from a small pouch on her hip and a pinch of sand is tossed in the air. With a quick flourish and a word the sand spreads over the mephits, sprinkling and sparkling. Drowziness overtakes them.

No save, 5d8 hp of enemies fall asleep. (5d8)[28] Level 1 spellcasting slot.

The unseen ripple of force blasts three of the Mephits aside, sending them careening through the air as they shout curses in Ignan. They barely have a moment to reorient themselves before Dagar's sleep spell hits them, taking them out of the fight. What began as 6 on 4 is now 4 on 3, and the remaining Mephits don't look nearly so cocky anymore. The little bastards.

Skyra tilts her wings, turning on a dime to face the enemies. Taking out her bow she notches an arrow, aiming at the closest Mephit to her companions that's still awake

Unsure on the elemental's resistances Volfer chooses to go for ol' reliable Magic weapon and strike one of the bastard in the face with a now surprisingly dense warhammer.

Magic weapon makes a normal weapon into +1. The cool thing about it is it can last for an hour provided I don't fail any concentration checks.

Skyra's arrow sinks home into one of the Mephits, and the injured creature drifts towards Volfer in its agony. His hammer strike finishes it off, leaving only two remaining. However, when it dies, it explodes in a puff of smoke, which envelopes Volfer and leaves him blinded.

The two remaining Mephits fly at Dagar and the Lizard, each taking a swipe with their claws.

Dagar gives a quick snap of her finger as a ball of ice fills into it. With a quick flick of the wrist it becomes a beam of cold making its way toward one of the mephits.

The 5th Mephit explodes into a cloud of smoke, just as the other one clears, allowing Volfer to see again. The last one, having seen all its friends die gruesome deaths, just ****in' books it. It flies away, leaving you all free to go through the portal.

Just to move things along after how long this fight took, I'ma just assume everybody goes through.

Once you're through the portal, you emerge into a dark cave. There's barely any light, but there's enough to see the rough-hewn walls. It doesn't look like there's anything ahead of you, at least as far as those of you with Darkvision can see. But from far ahead, you hear the sound of grinding stone.

The Lizard checks if their bottle of expensive booze made the trip this time and then grumbles softly in common.
"Can anyone see? Or light needed?"

[Eura]

Having superior darkvision Volfer will go first and if his teammates need light that is their problem, not like he could help with that anyway.
Volfer will be dodging if that matters because traps are common among caverns.

The Tiefling shrugs since she can see just fine. She looks to their avian companion.

Skyra slides her feet as she moves forward slowly, eyes wide, trying to will herself some darkvision. After a moment, she sighs "Anyone got a torch?"

Pointing a finger straight up, the Lizard mutters under their breath in Draconic. The muttering continues as a beam of fiery light zips out of their fingertip, first once, then over and over again.

Firebolt. Over and over again. Because the Light cantrip would have been a waste of a slot when you can just make lots of fire.

The now lit passage leads up, a steep climb towards the surface. The sound of grinding stone gets louder as you go along the tunnel, which suddenly veers hard to the left. The lizard's flames splash against the cavern wall, until you round the corner, and see the source of the noise.

The cavern wall is blasted open, the right side leading into a black void, with rubble along the floor. Leaning against the left hand wall is a massive form made of stone. If it wasn't moving, it would have passed for the statue of some ancient god. A Stone Giant, taller than any Volfer has ever seen before, is slowly sliding towards the floor. He appears to be injured, and is groaning loudly in pain.

The Lizard raises both their hands towards the giant but waits to see if the party is going to try to talk before the shooting.
